Anyone planning on watching?

I must be a glutton for punishment....it's even got the same actor in it (Ed the 'private investigator')

Sorry
One more thing! Clearly excited I found this thread.

It reminded me of usual suspects the film.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/12/2021 21:05

Tried again, managed 10 mins before switching off. Really glad so many people enjoyed it though 😂

Krabapple · 08/12/2021 23:34

I’ve binged it all. Won’t post any spoilers but really enjoyed it. Love the main actor - just off to google him…

KingofQueens · 09/12/2021 01:05

I've watched three episodes. It's so good. Compelling, well written, and fantastic acting. And it has the fabulous Bukky Bakray in it.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 09/12/2021 01:13

I've watched it all. All the actors were brilliant & the characters they played were multi-dimensional & also relatable.
Though Jamil did make me laugh in his duck/eiderdown coat, demanding that Hero did his college essays for him.
The only thing I didn't like was the ending & on that note I will say no more.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 09/12/2021 01:16

Well I'll say one last thing I really enjoyed 'Showtrial' but 'You Don't Know Me' absolutely blew it away!

yuletidefelcitations · 09/12/2021 21:16

Catch up everyone so we can discuss the ending!!'

foxlover47 · 09/12/2021 21:45

Just finished it , my god that was some
Outstanding acting !!

Gilmorehill · 10/12/2021 07:57

I kind expected that ending but I was hoping for another one. Sorry to be so vague- trying not to spoil it for others.

awaynboilyurheid · 10/12/2021 10:01

Loved this, the acting was superb! Head and shoulders over so many other rubbish dramas recently, felt sorry for JC character ,shows how life can take you down wrong road so easily, loved his big white coat lol and he played the part so well. Excellent drama, the main character should win a bafta for his performance.

JustDanceAddict · 10/12/2021 22:26

Finished it too. Was excellent although the ending was a bit annoying!!
Loved his mum and Bless ❤️

hivemindneeded · 10/12/2021 22:32

@JustDanceAddict

The college/2.1 thing was a bit of an error!!
Well he might be at a London uni. Several of them are colleges: Kings' College, University College, Imperial College etc.

I love the actor playing Jamil - he is so good.

HelloDulling · 10/12/2021 23:29

@SpindlesWinterWhorl

Jamil said 'college' and then something like 'on for a 2:1'. Would it not be 'university' or 'uni'? College is sixth-form and/or further ed, and doesn't have classes of results like that, does it?

'College' in that context sounds more American.

And yeah, imagine if Jamil is studying Classics and wants an essay on Homer's Iliad... our protagonist is barely able to show an interest in books Grin

Calling Higher Ed isn’t American at all. Until recently, half of our universities we’re polytechnic colleges/teacher training colleges/fashion or art colleges. My neighbour’s daughter is on a course which is technically part of the University of Arts London, but it only ever gets called college. Not to mention Oxbridge colleges. My mum and her peers all talk about their time ‘at college’, which was mid 60s.

Not that any of that explains why Jamil says it, but my point is it’s not un-British to call post 18 education college.

Popkids · 11/12/2021 00:50

Binged this yesterday and its the best BBC drama I've seen in a while. Excellent central performances. Samuel Adewunmi was mesmerising, so much emotion in his eyes. He's a real talent and definitely deserves a BAFTA nod.

LadyEloise1 · 11/12/2021 09:11

I agree he is brilliant in the role but he played a main character in Angela Black and I thought he was a little wooden in that - as did others on the AB thread on Mumsnet.

Yousexybugger · 11/12/2021 09:32

Wow, stumbled across the first episode last night and was completely sucked in by the lead actor, cried most of the way through! I am really intrigued by the mysterious Kaya. I hope Bless and mum are featured more throughout. Also yes, Jamil is looking to be quite an interesting character, it was quite endearing when his eyes lit up at getting his homework done!

Yousexybugger · 11/12/2021 09:36

But yes, I don't know much about law but it feels all quite revelatory for a 'summing up'. Also, he seems an intelligent, capable man- I can understand the system being bamboozling but I'm not convinced he (or his family) wouldn't have pushed for another barrister if he had real concerns when advised to give no evidence in a murder trial. But I don't know how it works, so.

lazymum99 · 11/12/2021 10:45

Although a bit frustrating I think that was the correct ending

Yousexybugger · 11/12/2021 13:33

Gah!!

Loveinacoldishclimate · 11/12/2021 14:36

I’m enjoying everyone being respectful of the spoilers, but to add I liked the ending!

SpindlesAdventWhirl · 11/12/2021 14:46

We can't discuss the ending until after 10pm on Monday, I assume?

Suffice to say, I would say the whole thing is definitely worth watching. I think it's partly the direction as well as the acting - it has pace. Angela Black didn't.

zafferana · 11/12/2021 16:20

I REALLY enjoyed it, after having low expectations, because almost everything recently has disappointed me. What a great set of actors though, a plot that kept me guessing until the end and thank goodness a crime drama that didn't centre on the police (SO fed up of police dramas!)

I have a couple of questions though and one is what happened to the pimp in episode two? There was just nothing more about him after the altercation in the street. I'm assuming he wasn't dead?

EvilShmeevil · 11/12/2021 20:44

grrrrrr, I now look back fondly at The Line of Duty ending.

absolutelynotfabulous · 13/12/2021 07:46

Still not feeling the lurve but looking forward to the conclusion tonight.

I'm one of the very few who liked the ending to Line of Duty. Smile.

LadyEloise1 · 14/12/2021 01:40

What did you think of the ending ?
