Anyone planning on watching?

Sunday at 9pm......gonna be my new Angela Black.🙈

I must be a glutton for punishment....it's even got the same actor in it (Ed the 'private investigator')

We've just finished it! Really enjoyed it 👍🏻

AnneLovesGilbert · 07/12/2021 00:09

I’ve moved on to Gold Digger. Having an iplayer session!

thecatneuterer · 07/12/2021 00:24

Yeah..like what is the subject....it's a degree, not an American High School....anybody can't just rock up and write an essay for you! He didn't even ask what subject confused🤣

I used to write university essays for a friend in a subject I'd never studied (business) in exchange for DIY jobs. He just gave me a couple of books to look at and I'd bash one out in an afternoon. I got decent grades too. Obviously if it had been physics or maths or Greek I wouldn't have stood as chance, but lots of subjects don't really require much prior knowledge for undergrad essays, particularly if it's a crappy university (and this one certainly was).

And I'm loving this series so far. Will probably binge the rest soon.

SpindlesWinterWhorl · 07/12/2021 09:38

I remember writing a Politics essay on dictatorships in about an hour for my then boyfriend at university when he couldn't be arsed to do it and he was on track to be chucked out. (God, I was really stupid, looking back ... although I got a 2:2 on the essay!) He's a headteacher now. True story.

I'm going to watch the final part of this today. I've been impressed so far.

That's one that I wish I could have had the 6 hours of my life back Grin so be careful starting it!
covetingthepreciousthings · 07/12/2021 09:40

I watched last nights and it's brilliant, like others have said one of the best dramas in recent years, and yes the lead actor is mesmerising. I think I'll probably binge the rest tonight.

Has anyone read the book?

Susiesoap7 · 07/12/2021 10:15

Enjoying it, so far

AngelonTopoftheTree · 07/12/2021 10:55

I've watched first two episodes and am really enjoying it! Started it by chance on Sunday as couldn't find the remote to change the channel when it came on.
Surprisingly, my 14 Yr old is watching it with me, and really getting into it & even deigned to leave his xbox on Monday at 9pm to watch it.

AngelonTopoftheTree · 07/12/2021 10:57

Not sure where author/ script writer is from, but here in Ireland college would mean 3rd level. So the whole 2:1 in college made sense to me.

TitsInAbsentia · 07/12/2021 14:31

Oh my gosh, just watched ep 1 and going straight in to ep 2....I thought I was going to throw up with him when he saw her under the bridge Sad

Forestdweller11 · 07/12/2021 14:45

Binge watched it last night. Excellent.

Loveinacoldishclimate · 07/12/2021 15:03

Oh my goodness- I’ve just finished. That was AMAZING! I hope it gets lots of BAFTAs. Feels like it was intended as a play but it still works as telly. It feels fresh and its well acted and the leads are engaging.

I had been hoping for a bit of enjoyable nonsense whilst feeling sorry for myself stuck home today but is brill Smile

lightisnotwhite · 07/12/2021 15:30

I think College and Uni are pretty interchangeable these days ( thanks to American influences).
Definitely Intentional not an error.

TitsInAbsentia · 07/12/2021 17:39

What a bobby dazzler! total binge as was hooked in the first 20 minutes. the story telling was just incredible, I know he already has a fair bit of stuff under his belt but Samuel is going to be a big ticket now that's for sure!

LadyGAgain · 07/12/2021 22:56

Loved it and binge watched. What amazing acting and insight into very real complexities that surround people in our society. Cause and effect too. Mesmerising. The BBC at its best. Again.

NumaNumaYay · 07/12/2021 23:27

Good idea for a storyline.
Bit underwhelmed by the end - maybe I was just a bit too tired and ran out of steam trying to watch them all over 2 nights.
But great acting, a fun ride. Really don't think a lot of that would've been allowed in court though!

NumaNumaYay · 07/12/2021 23:28

I also felt it suffered slightly from being broadcast not long after another show which included a specific similar theme. So the last part I was kind of primed to think that might have happened, due to watching this other show a few weeks ago.

GreenLunchBox · 07/12/2021 23:34

Im very happy for everyone's comments, and they're making me excited to keep watching but I'm worried someone will head into spoiler territory!
We're still on episode one here!

I'm on episode 2 and have given up,I just don't care about any of them. I've had 4 texts today saying I must watch it as it's so good - what's wrong with me ?! Dh and Ds gave up half way through the first episodeConfused

TitsInAbsentia · 07/12/2021 23:56

oh no Pelly! Well I think we have to view it from the point of not everything is for everyone 😒

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/12/2021 00:05

I might try again tomorrow. I loved Show Trial. I just kept thinking no way would all that be allowed to be said in court.

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/12/2021 01:03

@AnneLovesGilbert

Finished it tonight. It’s brilliant. Won’t say another word.
Me too! I agree with you. Really enjoyed it.
absolutelynotfabulous · 08/12/2021 05:43

I wouldn't say I'm loving it so far. Acting is good though. Hoping that it's not going to be one of those programmes everyone else loves and I just don't "get". Like I May Destroy You and Fleabag.

Haven't watched Showtrial yet.

Helpimfalling · 08/12/2021 19:51

I bloody loved it so much I came to search for this thread to read the general consensus.

Actor was brilliant!

Disliked Angela black (although I liked Ed)

I think this part
Was made for him though.
No one could have played it better.
Of
That I'm sure.

Helpimfalling · 08/12/2021 19:52

@GreenLunchBox

Me too *@SeamusFinnigan and @lazymum99*, though I can't promise I won't watch ahead depending on how boring my week is. I obviously won't post any spoilers
I did it all in one sitting.

Whilst the kids were at school.
