New 3 parter on mon tue wed this week

Dc sarah Collins (Gemma whelan) and dc Steve Bradshaw investigate. Deaths of a long serving police officer and teenager girl when they fall to their deaths from a London tower block

Left alone on the roof are a 5yr boy and a rookie officer Lizzie, who then disappears

Yes, think the book would be interesting. Someone upthread said Lizzie is white in the book. That changes the whole racial element as if it was a white officer backing up another white officer then you wouldn't have Lizzie asking the other non white officer for forgiveness and you wouldn't have Bradshaw helping Lizzie to stay in the police as the force needs young black officers on the inside to tackle old school racism.

Not sure how they would do a second series but there are a lot of loose ends.

I did enjoy Sarah telling Robert from Emmerdale that she had learnt to be a good officer from him in what was an obvious insult! 😂

Rhannion · 11/11/2021 00:00

The author has written two further books.

Rhannion · 11/11/2021 00:11

I remember Robert from Emmerdale as lovely Lyle in Kingdom with Stephen Fry

Rhannion · 11/11/2021 01:01

I don’t think those marks came from Mathews grabbing Farrah as they fell, he must have grabbed her roughly and that’s why they both fell.
Gemma Whelan would be excellent in Unforgotten. She has the same unstated style of acting as Nicola Walker.

Etinoxaurus · 11/11/2021 08:30

Massive lose ends with the boy not being interviewed- what did he see on the tower and the wife and the phone? Hmm!

ilovebrie8 · 11/11/2021 09:18

Hmmm...so she tried to save Fara made a grab for her and she fell of the ledge, her partner he fell trying to save/grab her? Odd ending, plus it is extreme to take a small boy to the edge of a high rise and threaten to push him just to get her phone back...?! That is weird. Wife still has the phone?? She didn’t destroy I’m guessing as she knows he had a fling ...

PrincessScarlett · 11/11/2021 09:20

The wife obviously has loads of dirt on Shaw as she automatically got his coded message about the milk and coffee so she's used to covering for him. I'm guessing she's keeping the phone as her insurance as she wasn't best pleased about his affair but at the same time gave the impression it wasn't the first time.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/11/2021 09:25

Anyone read the book ? Is the end I find different :explained more ?

UglyModernWindows · 11/11/2021 13:48

What was the coded message about the take-away coffee?

2020isnotbehaving · 11/11/2021 14:00

Something about there’s no milk so you will have to add some, maybe she didn’t have milk but knew that’s as odd so to take the lid off.

JaneJeffer · 11/11/2021 14:03

I still don't understand why he didn't just chuck the phone into a bin.

UglyModernWindows · 11/11/2021 14:09

Thanks @2020isnotbehaving At first I thought he had hidden the phone in that ginormous cup. It just doesn’t make sense.

2020isnotbehaving · 11/11/2021 14:11

I don’t get why he didn’t throw it either. The wife had it in her handbag at the funeral so maybe hoping second series where it may come to light? It was still left as police word against family over of he had called her those names or not.

CoronaPeroni · 11/11/2021 14:32

Good that it was only three episodes and all together! Wish there were more like that! Not sure I liked the message reinforcing that the police look after their own. And they all knew Hadley was racist yet it seemed it was 'ok'. How the non-white officers accepted that, or didn't feel they could challenge it, left a bad taste. And the bloke in charge was so wet. Also I noticed him acknowledging Steve and rubbishing Sarah. Subtle discrimination and such a gaslighter.
Look forward to another series with different themes.
Agree with others, Gemma Whelan for Unforgotten!

edisonbulb · 11/11/2021 20:24

I enjoyed it so much better than Angela Black.

RandomDent · 11/11/2021 21:48

I enjoyed the fact it didn’t tie up neatly. People do get away with stuff and people do lie to cover for others. It’s not a happy ending but it’s pretty realistic unfortunately.

Rhannion · 11/11/2021 21:56

It’s like Lone Of Duty in that the ending wasn’t as neat as we expect, just like life.

Rhannion · 11/11/2021 21:58

His wife had the phone as leverage for him to frankly keep his dick in his pants.

Rhannion · 11/11/2021 21:58

He clearly wasn’t as smart as he thought he was.

Rhannion · 11/11/2021 22:03

There is no way the wounds on Farah’s arms came from him grabbing her as they fell, no way. He obviously made a grab for her in a rough way to leave her skin under his finger nails. Frankly when a heavy person and a light person fall the heavier one will hit the ground faster, It’s gravity.

2020isnotbehaving · 11/11/2021 22:05

I thought that you don’t get bruises seconds before you die that’s how they can tell the blow that killed you. Presume he would washed his hands between getting the phone and fallen off tower though

JaneJeffer · 11/11/2021 22:07

He grabbed her and they both fell so the weight of him dragging her down would have torn into her wrist I think.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/11/2021 22:34

That makes sense

I still don't get the coded message about the drink - why did he need her to take the lid off?

misscockerspaniel · 12/11/2021 10:24

He said that the coffee was filled to the top and that she would need to take some out and put milk in.

He told her this because he had hidden the phone in the coffee cup.

She knew something was up, so poured away some of the coffee, saw the phone, added milk and replaced the lid - hiding the phone from the police who were searching the house, car and husband.
