Absolutely loved it!

My list of big house jobs includes 'declutter' in every room so I was hoping to put off doing it be inspired. Loved Stacey Solomon though would have liked more from Ivan on the cleaning.

In 2 weeks? Its not on next week? Grrr

Rummikub · 22/02/2023 22:01

Football?

LadyAddle · 22/02/2023 22:50

Making those beds fitted into alcoves would be a nightmare - you'd have to crawl over them and force the sheets down the sides. Otherwise, what a lovely family and a great outcome.

Juniper68 · 23/02/2023 07:48

Dh asked to watch this 😳
I agree re making the beds. They all seemed so happy though.

I wonder why they didn't show a revisit?

Nannewnannew · 23/02/2023 07:57

@Juniper68 They did go back a month later and the Mum said that the coffee machine still hadn’t been used!

HufflepuffRavenclaw · 23/02/2023 08:44

Really lovely family last night. I thought the way they incorporated special items of jewellery into artwork for the walls was a great way of remembering the Mum.

Oh yes 🙈 Did they go around the rooms?

PermanentTemporary · 23/02/2023 13:00

Cried twice last night! Lovely episode.

@LadyAddle - oh my god, that is exactly what I thought.!! And making the superking bed in their bedroom. How would you even vacuum the floor down the side of the bed? you couldn't even get in to tuck in the sheets? I thought that was really claustrophic.

I often think that kind of thing though - about how difficult it would be to clean. I thought it was just me.

I could have called for the smelling salts thinking about the dust that would accumulated on all those flowers she stapled to the wall in the little girls room a couple of weeks ago. It may look nice for 5 mins but it will get really dusty and be impossible to clean effectively without a lot of effort.

louise5754 · 23/02/2023 14:30

6 people in a 3 bed house - That's pretty standard with people who have 4 kids.

Why move into the house? What did you expect them to do? The sister said her house was bigger but didn't say if they had more bedrooms. She probably didn't want the kids to lose their mum / friends / home all at once.

Nannewnannew · 23/02/2023 15:01

@Juniper68 They briefly showed the boys playing in their bedroom and then the whole family sat around the dining table but that was all really. As pp’s have said the beds were really crammed in, and I wonder if they’ve struggled with that?

But what an amazing family, they were so grateful and so happy, just lovely people ❤️

ElephantOfRisk · 23/02/2023 16:09

I grew up with 9 in a 3 bed house - it was a council house though so the bedrooms were reasonably decent. Mum and dad in the smallest room, 4 boys in the biggest and 3 girls in the medium.

We moved into that from a 2 bed flat. 2 bedrooms housing 6 kids and M&D and the baby/toddler sleeping in the living room. Though Dad was nightshift quite a lot so no idea how he managed that.

Juniper68 · 23/02/2023 16:22

It was heartbreaking

MoltenLasagne · 23/02/2023 19:53

That was such an emotional episode, what an absolutely lovely family.

I think the Aunt said that they moved into her sister's smaller house because they didn't want to change the kids lives any more than had already happened, and they didn't want to take them away from where they'd lived with their Mum.

I can't imagine how they'd lived in that chaotic house for 2 years, but I can totally understand how they ended up in that situation with the combination of the grief and the urgency to move in.

WGACA · 23/02/2023 21:06

They we’re such a lovely family. The house was really cramped but they did as good a job as they could.

Meredusoleil · 23/02/2023 21:16

Still not sure I fully understand why they didn't move the 3 kids in with them, if they lived close by and had the bigger house? Surely that would have made more sense and the kids could have still gone to the same schools?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 23/02/2023 21:26

She did say they stayed there for the schools so obviously it was near but not near enough

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 23/02/2023 21:27

Also I wondered if they had a bigger mortgage in their old house

Someo · 23/02/2023 21:28

@Meredusoleil I imagine that house obviously holds tons of memories of their Mum so presumably they didn't want the children to face that much upheaval at a time when they were also grieving for their Mum.

Beetr00t · 24/02/2023 19:56

What a lovely family. I really liked how the team consulted with bereavement charities first to ensure they handled it sensitively.

The boys room though- awful- it was like a nursery?! Not aimed at the older boy at all. What a shame.

Meredusoleil · 24/02/2023 20:06

I actually think the girls should have had the bigger boys' room. Or the parents. It wasn't logical to give the youngest/smallest 2 family members the biggest bedroom imho.

Also, they showed the older sister's wardrobe, but where was the younger one's?

Rummikub · 24/02/2023 20:11

I thought the boys did have the smallest room?

yes agree that it was good the team consulted bereavement charity.

louise5754 · 25/02/2023 07:24

I can't imagine in 2 years time when a 15 year old has to share with a 4 year old. But obviously they are all in this situation through no fault of their own and they are doing the best they can.

louise5754 · 25/02/2023 07:26

What do people think to Joe being on the show? People slag him off but he seems nice enough.

Plus she's called her dad a couple of times too. I wonder why they stay local a lot of the time?

ExcessiveIyDisorganised · 25/02/2023 07:55

I like Joe popping in, the team seem like a family so he's a natural extension to that. It looks as though the series was filmed last summer, maybe the whole family are staying nearby while Stacey films, or maybe he drives over if he's not working. As he's a TV presenter too he must know the ropes.
