New thread for tonight. Will they have to replicate a Tunnock's product? Creme caramel? Can't think what else they might have to do.

@SoMuchToBits

I'm pleased Giuseppe won. He was my next favourite after Juergen, and thought he was an all round good baker. Smile
Yaaaaaaay!
EsmaCannonball · 23/11/2021 21:53

I still don't understand Crystelle and the focaccia. Even before Paul lifted it up I thought it looked too flat and pale. How did that pass her by?

MissDollyMix · 23/11/2021 22:05

Pleased for Giuseppe, the most consistent baker throughout the series (though tonight was not his best night) I liked Chiggs and Crystalle too (but missed Juergen, DD8 cried more when he left than when her grandfather died)
Although the bakers this year have been a likeable bunch overall the series felt flat and rushed and seems to have lost a lot of its charm. Matt and Noel are awful! They must go! Paul has had his day, I don’t feel there’s much more he can offer to the show. I’d love to see it revamped for next year. Would be sad to see it just left to decline into a shadow of its former glory Sad

The best contestant won, great result.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 23/11/2021 22:22

@Exhausteddog

I didn't mind who who won and from what we saw it was really difficult to choose. I couldn't understand how Crystelle didn't notice the focaccia not rising/cooking ....although I doubt she had time to make another one....but we didn't see any drama when she realised ....(she must have realised?) I felt really bad for Giuseppe when the oven was off and for Crystelle when they said the foccaccia was raw which I'm sure she knew she looked like she was about to cry. I also thought the mushrooms looked phallic! Grin

Love love love the update and the fact they all met up afterwards Smile

I'm guessing she knew. Why was there so much oil in it?
StormyCornishSeas · 23/11/2021 22:23

Sooooo happy Giuseppe won. I thought it was tough and go whether he would for a moment. And I'll defo buy a copy of the book he writes with his Dad

Leftbutcameback · 23/11/2021 22:28

I really liked the look of the bread with chocolate and hazelnut that Giuseppe baked - the criticism seemed to be that it tasted too Italian which is mad!

toomuchlaundry · 23/11/2021 22:35

I thought Matt and Noel were particularly annoying tonight. Don't think I would have coped with their inane chat whilst trying to cope with disaster of oven not heating up

I thought the mushrooms looked phallic too. I was surprised nobody made any innuendo.

A couple of weeks ago I sent some feedback to channel 4 saying how I didn't think Noel and Matt were funny together. Might be with sending your thoughts too.

Kookookachuu · 23/11/2021 22:54

I normally like Noel Fielding but if he came with sarcastic comments about me forgetting to put the oven on I think I would’ve beat him with a baking tray Grin

LadyAddle · 23/11/2021 23:10

@girafferafferaffe
How did you send your feedback to C4? I was so enraged one week by Noel and Matt that I wanted to tell C4 but couldn't work out how to contact them. I would love to weigh in on this, and on Paul Hollywood.

Ellmau · 23/11/2021 23:23

None of the carrot cakes was up to much, and that Belgian bun, wtf with the 'recipe'? But the mad hatter tea party was a great idea for a showstopper.

I totally thought Chigs had won until they said Giuseppe's name, his showstopper looked brilliant and Giuseppe's was a tiny bit disjointed.

Crystelle's looked super, but the focaccia killed her chance.

Ah well, it was lovely in the end.

Noel and Matt can leave any time though. They really feel pointless. Let Paul and Prue announce the winners/losers.

PickAChew · 23/11/2021 23:33

I thought carrot cake was odd for a final. It's idiot proof but only because it improves with standing for a day.

I often cringe at the reliance on the freezer, anyhow. Sometimes things just need to cool slowly.

Matt and Noel HAVE TO GO. Especially Matt. I've liked Noel fine in other stuff, even thought he and Sandi bounced off each other well once they settled down but Matt is such an arsehole and all the humour is now painfully forced and unfunny. I've been hoping desperately for them to bump him and get Tom Allen instead, who was so infinitely better covering for Noel on the celeb ones.

Happy for Giuseppe; right up to the wire our household thought it would be Chigs, but it could have been any of the final four. I think it would have been Crystelle if that focaccia had come off.

I don't know why they can't give the bakers longer to complete the tasks. It's all edited down anyway. The skill is in making the cake, not making the cake in 3 hours.
I'd rather they had more time so they could do things properly.

Needdoughnuts · 23/11/2021 23:49

The right winner but not on tonight's performance. The tasks were boring and no one really stood out.
How does everyone keep quiet for months about who the winner is? I can't believe that there isn't an accidental slip up in all that time, so many people must know!

MrsFionaCharming · 23/11/2021 23:52

Did anyone else watch on All4?

It helpfully decided the show was over just as the showstopper finished, narrowed it down to a third of the screen, and filled the rest with an advert for Married at First Sight. We couldn’t figure out how to get rid of the ad, so had to watch the results in a tiny little box.

Winniewonka · 24/11/2021 00:05

Yes to the last section on All4! Just so weird, small section of the TV screen at the most crucial moment😬

I wrote Crystalle's name and put it in an envelope about a month ago, predicting her as the winner. I am glad Giuseppe won although the editing suggested it would be Chigs.

Ieatmarmite · 24/11/2021 00:06

I'm pleased Giuseppe won. I thought he let his nerves get to him a bit tonight.

Exhausteddog · 24/11/2021 00:19

I remember Steph a couple of series ago was great and (i think) she got to the final and everything went wrong for her. It was really sad.

Needdoughnuts · 24/11/2021 00:22

Yes I noticed that in All4. I tapped the main screen a few times in the end and the other stuff disappeared.

Platax · 24/11/2021 07:04

They were banging on so much about how disastrous things were for Giuseppe that I said to DH he must have won. They're so transparent.

JustDanceAddict · 24/11/2021 07:19

The right baker won in the end - he may not have had his best show but he was the best of the three overall. I think Crystelle might have won if her focaccia hadn’t been raw! Even in progress it looked completely wrong and I’ve never made it (although do make bread occasionally).
Bin Paul and Matt (I think Noel would be better with someone else, he was good with Sandy). Matt isn’t the right presenter for GBBO and Paul is well past his sell by date!
