New 4 part drama on every night starts tomorrow

A mans body is found on the beach leading detective Matthew vent to the Braun Brethan - a religious group he was in till 19

Good cast including Ben Aldridge - martin shaw - Anita Dobson - and Declan bennet (Charlie cotton from ee) as his husband

I liked the scenery and the houses - though the detective's looks like a million pound house with all that glass overlooking the sea!

I am enjoying this so far and think Ben Aldridge is very good in the role but why is everyone talking in such minimal, sharp staccato sentences, devoid of any emotion. It's like they're sending a telegram to each other

e.g. Simon - found - him - job - at - Woodside - Cafe

It must be the direction as even Neil Morrissey was doing it.

Shame as saw some preview thing making big deal about first gay detective finally and its boring want to stick around. Hate it when make big show of “new series” and it’s unwatchable. Same with few ITV lately or my brain cells are dying off.

The book was good, but like several reviewers, I got sick of Ann Cleeves' constant references to " his husband". She hardly ever used the guy's name! Yes, Ann, we know he's gay, yes, that's fine, why keep telling us! I think I may enjoy the tv version more. Although as already said on here, a lot of the characters look similar, and so many names!

I found it really boring. I had high hopes, but was disappointed. I’ll wash the second to see if it improves but I’m not hopeful.

We had fun spotting places we knew on this show, and the scenery shots were really lovely.
DH gave up on it as he said he thought it all a bit dull. So off he trotted to do the washing up leaving me in peace to enjoy it :)

So they know Rosa is kidnapped and alive. Why aren't they out scouring every lonely building then? Rather than, oh let's have a good sleep, have a coffee do some yoga and painstakingly interview more people. There were going on as if she was dead already.

Juliet Stevenson is a terrible actress. She is ruining this for me.

I like it but the pacing is stretched out. Took them most of one episode to find out who bought a chalet.

I find it very difficult to follow. The women all look the same but maybe that’s just me

I have given up on it. Not holding my attention at all. ITV dramas are officially crap.

Exactly what DH and I said - why are all the women slim with long dark hair?! Getting them all mixed up. And Matthew is such a boring character.

I KNOW that I am shallow, but Ben Aldridge was just gorgeous in Our Girl. Absolutely gorgeous. So my main emotion on watching this is: but why am I not finding you gorgeous any more…?

Does the army uniform make THAT much difference?

ITV drama seems to have really gone downhill. I can’t remember watching anything great recently. Hollington drive was officially shit and hours of my life that I’ll never get back.

I am enjoying this one. Hollington Drives ending was awful and Angela Black is awful at the moment unless there is a massive twist.

@edisonbulb, I’ve got the last two episodes of Angela Black to watch. Debating whether it’s worth watching.
