Anyone watching?

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 12/10/2021 09:02

It's not the best programme ever and it's certainly got some holes but I quite like it

HuckleberryJam · 12/10/2021 09:05

Rachael Stirling was fine in the detectorists which I loved. She has a distinctive low voice but it doesn't bother me

It was her voice that made me recognise her, she looks so different that I couldn't be sure it was her for ages! She looks so different from the Detectorists- think she's had a lot of work done
Clawdy · 12/10/2021 14:17

Strangely I seem to remember Rachel's first ever tv role was as a music hall entertainer who dressed as a man - but I may have got that wrong.

GreyhoundG1rl · 12/10/2021 14:30

I used to think she was classically beautiful but I can't unsee the man thing now it's been pointed out 😬

Tipping the Velvet with Keeley Hawes.

Not sure it was her first tv role but perhaps the first that she's well remembered for?

I think it was the unflattering Willie Wonka haircut!

She was (imo) stunning with the short hair in Tipping the Velvet.

Mooserp · 12/10/2021 18:42

I think she looks like her mum. Not like a man!

newhomehelp · 13/10/2021 21:27

Such a bizarre programme. I'm intrigued by it, even though I'm finding it pretty irritating!

JustDanceAddict · 13/10/2021 21:45

Love the ‘we’re having beef…’
Yes, you are!!

winterescape · 13/10/2021 21:49

What happened there with the outburst from the daughter.

SentDeliveredRead · 13/10/2021 21:52

I have no idea either @winterescape, it's bizarre

winterescape · 13/10/2021 21:56

@SentDeliveredRead

I have no idea either *@winterescape*, it's bizarre
It looks like in the space of 3 seconds, the son told the daughter what has been going on and she’s had her outburst in the kitchen.
PrincessScarlett · 13/10/2021 22:02

So Helen's husband has tried to kill himself. Sign of guilt maybe? And that whole model of the neighborhood in his garage was pretty creepy I thought, especially when the camera focussed in on certain windows.

AnnieRich · 13/10/2021 22:12

Anna Maxwell Martin is out- pausing Nicola Walker.

Rummikub · 13/10/2021 22:29

Yes I thought that too.

Why’s he ‘grooming the man who broke the pot?

Xmasbaby11 · 13/10/2021 23:16

I noticed AMM's delivery was full of pauses and like pp said, reminded me of Nicola Walker! The acting is awful, all of it, very stagey, and the house is horrible and dark. It's so easy to watch though and just what I need!

I reckon Eva's dad, who's made that model of the drive, is behind it, though it was probably an accident.

Wingedharpy · 14/10/2021 00:59

Is Helen's husband gay, do we think?

Agree @Mooserp. Spitting image of her Mum and sounds like her Mum too.

HaileyBailey · 14/10/2021 04:08

Another one who was reminded of Nicola Walker.

I’m enjoying it although I’m not quite sure why.

HarebrightCedarmoon · 14/10/2021 04:27

I always spend ten minutes in any programme either of them are in working out whether it's AMM or Nicola Walker. Rachael Stirling is not "mannish", FFS. The only couple that had a tiny bit of chemistry were she and Jonas Armstrong. I think those two did it though, albeit accidentally, to hide their affair.

PrincessScarlett · 14/10/2021 07:25

Oh good call @HarebrightCedarmoon! I did think last night that Helen seemed to be unravelling a bit and I think she's always used Theresa as a crutch rather than the other way round like it had been previously implied of their relationship. Helen is just so morbid and by insisting Ben and Theresa are more guilty than Helen and Eva it's like Helen is trying to get Theresa to share the guilt so it isn't too much for her to bear.

PheasantsNest · 14/10/2021 07:41

This programme is awful. I keep watching thinking it might improve. AMM is nothing like Nicola Walker. Nicola is in a different league to this dreadful acting.

Fenelladepompom · 14/10/2021 07:44

Who is Rachael Stirling's mother then?

PheasantsNest · 14/10/2021 07:47

@Fenelladepompom Diana Rigg.

Hdhdjejdj · 14/10/2021 08:19

The thing with the bereaved parents being northern and saying that they don’t live in a big house but love their son is fucking awful and insulting.
