Fucking hell is anyone watching? Those poor women/girls.

OP posts:
fabulouslyglamorousferret · 01/11/2021 22:06

It was horrible, it was telling that the baby went into long term foster care and not returned to mum.

I think they were probably both abusive but was the one who caused the serious injury.

MondeoFan · 01/11/2021 22:06

That was a tough watch. He was so emotionless. The fact he said he was in the toilet - trying to insinuate someone else did it or he didn't know what happened.

ParkheadParadise · 02/11/2021 00:16

Aw, that was sad 💔💔
Why were they not asking how the baby was when they were being interviewed?
I would have been screaming my head off to get out of there and back to my baby.
It was weird when the police went to the house and there was no baby stuff about.
I hope the baby is now with a loving family who will take care of him.

Wingedharpy · 02/11/2021 00:36

Truly, truly tragic.

How the Police manage to remain calm and collected when they're just getting the "no comment" response continually, is beyond me.

I did wonder though, in the first case shown, where there wasn't enough evidence for prosecution, when the Mum ,mid-interview, turned to the woman who was presumably, her
lawyer, and said "I want to talk to you" and just got the response " my advice will be the same" thereby shutting down any conversation, would a different response have resulted in a different outcome?
ie. if Mum had been able to say what was on her mind to lawyer, would the end result have been the same?

I appreciate the lawyer's job in these cases is to advise the client how to respond in their best interest (ie. Client's best interest).......but, what about the poor baby?

Just as well I'm neither a Police woman or a lawyer.

GobletofFiyah · 02/11/2021 00:45

@Wingedharpy my DH used to do police stations defence work and if the police's evidence is lacking In proving who did what he said their advice will always be to say no comment because if they can't pin it to one person it'll go no further action, the cps won't charge because there is no evidence against one person. If they don't charge at the time they can go back and do more investigation and then charge at a later date.

He stopped doing it after a few years of that. Tbh it's not the solicitors fault the police don't have the evidence; the solicitors cannot lie to the police though so if she had said I have done it to the solicitor and then lied in the police interview the solicitor is obligated to end the interview because they are 'professionally embarrassed' so the police or if it happens in court are now aware of the fact the client is lying.

Tiramiwho · 02/11/2021 01:02

I have never missed this show, I am glued to it every week. This was the most tragic, upsetting episode I have ever seen. How could such evil scum walk this planet?
My heart goes out to both babies. ❤️

Wingedharpy · 02/11/2021 03:12

@GobletofFiyah: Thanks for that explanation.
It does make sense now you've explained it regarding further evidence coming to light later on.

Proving these sort of cases must be so, so difficult, not to mention being very distressing for the Professionals involved who have to listen to it all.

It never ceases to amaze me when you see all the months and months of work that goes on behind the scenes in various cases. It goes to Court and the sentence seems miniscule in comparison to the efforts involved to get it there.

ILoveYou3000 · 02/11/2021 07:24

@Crazycakelady17

How awful was tonight’s cases and the sentence was a joke for what he did to the at baby! I do think they gotten right parent I think the mum was struggling and maybe PND and he took over and was controlling he showed no emotion
The only emotion he eventually showed was for himself when he realised they knew it was him and he'd be facing the consequences. Nothing for his son at all.

Also when he said about how can he have done it when he was visiting and phoning to check up on him, so cold and calculating.

longtompot · 02/11/2021 09:24

I didn't understand how the mum of the second baby could say she was trying to be a good mum. She didn't do any of the care from what was said, he did did it all. Unless of course, she had pnd and or he was abusive to her and controlled what she could and couldn't do.
His crocodile tears when he realised he was going to be found responsible for the injuries.
That poor baby. My heart broke for him, and the other one where neither parent was found to be responsible.

NavyCream · 02/11/2021 11:35

It's shocking that there are people who are severely disabled, caused by child abuse only. The way the mother didn't react when told of the life long severe disabilities inflicted on her child was awful. And one of the dads cracking a joke in the police station.
Was the first baby with the brain bleed returned to the parents?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 02/11/2021 19:58

Just watched the last two episodes.

The dog walking woman saying ‘the murderer lives there’ and his mam all indignant saying he isn’t a murderer - he’s my son.

Yes love - YOUR SON . THE MURDERER.

And then this week. With the babies. Such callous disregard for such delicate wee souls. And little lives broken before they’ve even really started.

The sadness and pain some cause without a thought. So many lives shattered.

whatsthestory123 · 02/11/2021 20:05

the second case the mother seemed very imature i think she was 19yrs old and how can you not feed.change etc a little baby
i noticed she had time to get her hair coloured while her now severly disabled baby was in hospital

i hope to god neither parent have anymore children but wont hold my breath

i remember years ago being told if it gets to much put the baby in the cot walk away and take a break but i dont really think this apply's to parents like this, poor baby's

whatsthestory123 · 02/11/2021 20:23

i also think the programme could do with being a little longer

pollypokcet · 02/11/2021 21:15

@ParkheadParadise

His mother was something else at least the dad was truthful when questioned. My thoughts are with the victims mum sadly, I know exactly what she is going through.

I find it amazing how we all thought the same thing about her. Just comes across as a mean person, no empathy for the victim. Just off.

Husband much nicer, and was truthful in the end.

whatsthestory123 · 02/11/2021 21:49

she was a hard faced mare that probably hen pecked her poor husband all his life and ruled the family with a rod of iron imo

she reminded me of my dad's mummother in law

can you imagine her as a mother in law

Toddlerteaplease · 03/11/2021 20:24

Catching up now. I can't believe mum went no comment when out right accused of hurting her baby. When I've delt with possible NAI's at work parents, are utterly horrified that it's even being investigated as such. Emotions run very high. How did mum just stay so
Emotionless.

chipstickz · 04/11/2021 07:44

3 years seems pretty like a pretty paltry sentence Sad

He showed very little remorse and I'm pretty sure all the visiting he did while the baby was in hospital was part of his plan to cover it up rather than from any sense of guilt.

I hope he's had some help to control his anger and temper while he was in prison.

purpleme12 · 04/11/2021 14:58

I just cringed when he mentioned hitting a wall of lamppost
I mean after all that's not a healthy sign of anger is it

LilyTheMink · 04/11/2021 21:01

I always wonder how Sally Clarke behaved in police interviews.

Tootshoots · 04/11/2021 21:58

Just watched the baby episode, that was hard viewing. I have to say I watched it thinking thank God I managed to not lose it when my babies were small and crying and colicky. But I can absolutely see how it does happen. That's not to excuse it at all. That father showed no remorse. The mother seemed completely detached, maybe pnd. But that poor poor little baby boy, completely disabled for life & being fostered probably being shifted from one foster parent to the next. Its tragic. The sentence of 3 years was pathetic

purpleme12 · 04/11/2021 21:59

The baby must have been shaken very hard to have such life limiting consequences?

purpleme12 · 04/11/2021 23:15

I've never wanted to get to the end of the episode to see who did it than on this episode

chipstickz · 05/11/2021 07:26

@LilyTheMink

I always wonder how Sally Clarke behaved in police interviews.
Yes I wonder. Her story is so incredibly sad.
billysboy · 05/11/2021 08:17

its a pity that there are not tougher and real consequences of No Comment right from the start of the interviews , not to sit and NC and then offer a statement and claim to have helped the police

If the police were able to make a few examples it may make people more inclined to talk

LilyTheMink · 05/11/2021 08:33

Just looked up Sally Clark police interviews.
She was talking in the first one but then went NC.
Didn't realise she also had alcohol problems before even have children.
