The Handmaid's Tale Series 4 - finale coming up, no spoilers please.

New thread, looking forward to finale, but wishing it really was the last episode, with all storylines and characters ending satisfactorily.

@BIWI I listened to the first 10 mins and forgot about it. I'll finish it tomorrow as she sounded really interesting especially with her background in documentary making.

On the podcasts they often mention about how week they cast get on and enjoy filming. I’d love to see some back stage , light hearted fun between them. I can’t imagine them laughing

I saw a photo of June, Fred and Nick on set all in costume but being themselves. It was really weird to see them out of character.

Saw a fan theory on one of many FB THT Twitter pages that I am on.... that says Hannah is Nicks wife 😱 Hence why he has so much info, hid his ring etc I mean it could be wrong but couldn't it make sense also? Hannah would now be around the age Eden was when she became a wife?

Dunno about that, last time we saw Hannah she was very much a little girl, seemed about 8 or 9 maybe? You know the scene where she was behind a screen with her doll, June was made to understand they would hurt her, that's why she had to betray the other handmaids and Esther.

Don't think much time has passed since then. (Although why is Nicole still a baby?).

Whereas Eden must have been about 14 or 15 when married off to Nick.

It’s a possibility when she does reach the age as he would keep her safe until he could get her to June but too young just yet

I enjoyed it, yes you have to accept the improbability of some things, but how much more satisfying than letting the vile Fred fly off to Geneva. I get the impression that the increased? contact between Canada and Gilead came about because of negotiations re Nicole. Also thought that Fred's fate was purely down to Nick and Lawrence, with Gilead not knowing anything about it. Did not see Moira in the woods, but she has been there longer and is in a different frame of mind to June. Loved all the symbolism of the colours, clothes, shapes etc, seeing what appear to be handmaids' 'wings' at times. Even for those who didn't like it, how amazing to have a show that can generate such discussions and theories.

Hannah can't be Nick's wife - unless he was lying when he told June that she was living in Colorado Springs?! She's also too young. (Even for Gilead!)

Also surely if he had control of her he would find a way to get her out of Gilead.

I think the issue of Hannah looking older was addressed in the podcast? I can't remember properly now, but I have a vague memory of a mention that because Covid put filming back Hannah looks older than the character actually is.

I have to say that I would prefer that the series follows the Testaments so it can tie in. I also wanted both the series and the Testaments to be in line with the epilogue of the book.

I think I'm too invested. 😊 I have to remind myself that although each thing has happened somewhere the story of June and Gilead et al is (thankfully) not a real world.

Eden was 15 when they married her off to Nick. Hannah is 12 now so still not quite marriage age but won't be far off in Gilead terms. I imagine that will make June & Luke more desperate to get her out as they know she's somewhat protected as a child but as soon as she's a wife she will be expected to pro-create.

@Pemba Hannah was 5 when she was taken from June. June said this series she'd been in Gilead 7 years.
