TV ads that really grind your gears...

Lighthearted and a chance to vent!

Right now for me it's the Dairy Milk icecream one (Magnum ripoff), where the kid is grating chocolate onto vanilla ice cream, and then pouring melted chocolate on it...an older guy (meant to be a brother or parent?) then gets two Dairy Milk ice creams out of the freezer and tells the kid he can have one after he's cleared the mess up. Tagline is "You already know blah blah blah"

Grinds my gears because it's just so stupid! Surely the kid would already know those ice creams are already in the freezer? When I was kid we knew exactly what was in the fridge and freezer at all times!

And the only thing I already know about Dairy Milk chocolate is that it's now vile...

Oh I hate the phil Spencer "housebarrassment" ad (is it wickes?)
Housebarrassment isnt a word and it's not funny or clever.

The current GoCompare ads really annoy me.
The Apple Music (surround sound) ad annoyed me until I started to absolutely love everything about. Was binge watching something or other streaming and have seen it a lot !

The Domino's yodelling one - just awful and so angry making.

The cringey Nationwide ones.

Phillip Schofield car ads. Or PS in anything really.

Aww my son (who is three) and me quite enjoy yodelling along to the dominos one when it comes on on the radio when I’m driving I haven’t seen it on the tv yet.

Roses I find it just as irritating on the radio.

I find the Peloton ones very irritating - the smug voices giving "motivational" comments make me weirdly ragey, and I'm a really placid person in general! "OK, peloton..." 😡

Also there is or was a Funky Pigeon ad where a woman with a really gormless voice sings the tagline - same thing, instant mute button.

The Specsavers ads with the elderly couple.

One where they drive on to an aircraft carrier instead of a ferry and the other where they sit down on a roller coaster to eat lunch instead of a bench.

They’re so bloody stupid that they make me rant every time they come on

Also Specsavers - “Karen, we’ve a cat with no pulse” - DD has Tourette’s and picked that up as a tic and drove me completely up the wall with it for about 6 weeks - I’m scared every time it’s on that it will trigger it again

Ugh, yes. I have a general aversion to the other phrases ‘you’re smashing it’ and -worse - ‘you got this!’ which explains it in my case.

OTT nonsense. It’s an exercise class, not scoring goals in the World Cup or rescuing someone from a raging river.

Currently it is the chap who is sucking his fingers at the start of the advert. I don’t give a flying one if it is finger licking good.

Urgh yes to peleton with annoying smug non sweaty people allegedly doing their workout (with irritating motivational trainer barking instructions) while their toddler admires plays quite happily and safely on their own without trying to join in or injure themselves on the treadmill.

On the subject of radio ads, the Deliveroo ad 'England til we dine' gives me the absolute rage when it comes on.

And the Fixadent one where it states that the woman dancing on the gigantic tongue is just an illustration or something

The Jane Plan thing where she says "Let me tell you about Jane Plan" Then doesn't. Other people do. Food was shite.
And the Philip Scofield Ones - The one where he waves his bare legs about. In fact any advert with him in. Never liked him.

Has anyone mentioned the Total Jobs advert with the lady who says "that's kitty, she works with dummies". Who are these people in the pictures and who's she explaining this to? We're given no context, they could be her children or grandchildren or random people she has photos of. It REALLY INFURIATES ME!!

And the omaze million pound house draw one, the way she says it gets on my wick. Grr.

Total jobs is the worst ad I've seen in years. Totally cringe.

Anything with a poem or starts with 'I know things have been difficult' make me want to kick the TV over but the one fairly long running ad I just hate is the Mr Kipling one with the young lad who seems to be hated by all his family! It makes me really sad.
Also the Bloom and Wild one which crams in so much made up tragedy to try and tug on everyone's heartstrings, it actually makes me cross!

The Facebook portal where two guys are talking after presumably one of their partners has had a miscarriage. I mean the actors are very good - so it’s just a bit too serious and uncomfortable to watch, especially when you’re in the middle of watching something very lighthearted.

I was about to say this. I think it’s really insensitive. I have just gone through this and then this ad came out of nowhere with no warning earlier this week and I had a little cry. I was only with DH but still.

The cheese strings advert, with the girl floating about saying "strings and things" makes me feel sick
