Oh the absolute irony of the words of the character played by Dominic West in this trailer!! Wasn't he start shagging Lily James when he was filming this TV series???

This will be on BBC from 9th May - looks good.

Turned it off. Absolute bobbins.

This is Brian, freeze frame brian being hopelessly aristocratic. This is margery, freeze frame, this is constance, freeze frame. What ho killed some gerrys. The blitz oh what fun.

Fuck. Off.

Oh dear. I thought it was going to be bad and thought I’d give it a miss...but then thought ‘Try fifteen minutes’. Fifteen minutes of quality life lost...I adore all Nancy Mitford’s books and this is a terrible adaptation. Lily James as Linda is all wrong (too old and knowing), Dominic West is terrible as Uncle Matthew, and many of the others seem badly cast. Loved the Deborah Moggach version with Rosamund Pike, Alan Bates etc. Have switched off.

There must have been a law passed 3 years ago that says Lily James needs to be cast in every period drama.

Andrew Scott shirtless piqued my interest enough for me not to turn it off must get my gaydar fixed

I don’t like Lily James’ face. She doesn’t look like a pleasant person, despite her beauty.

It doesn’t feel like what we all need at the moment. Who gives a shite about posh people all played by Emily Mortimer’s friends and family.

@mimirouge

I loved that original tv adaptation too (have it on video!). You are not wrong, it encompassed both pursuit of love and love in a cold climate but took the second as title. Judi Dench was Aunt Sadie.
This version is not doing it for me and Uncle Matthew looks a bit like Hitler, which is ironic.

I can't watch Andrew Scott without being reminded of Declan Donnelly !!

This is awful ! I love Nancy Mitford and cant believe how bad this adaptation is . I want a period drama to be atmospheric and authentic this one is just all over the place . I agree with other posters Lily James isn’t right for this at all . It’s just soooo bad

I quite like it, it's a bit silly like Brigerton and Catherine but amusing ish.

Haven't started watching yet but love the books and have a 20 year fascination with the Mitford family. Sounds like I will be very disappointed 😢

I've joined DH who is watching Spectre. I can see Andrew Scott there!

The use of more modern music in costume dramas has become a bit clichéd now.

I've switched off. Will maybe watch the rest of Andrew Scott's scenes later.

I get they're trying to convey the kind of free-range and slightly ramshackle nature of the Mitford upbringing but it just feels a bit too pantomime-y?

I'm still watching. Is anyone else? What happened to Fanny's hair? Did I miss something? Confused
