Oh the absolute irony of the words of the character played by Dominic West in this trailer!! Wasn't he start shagging Lily James when he was filming this TV series???

This will be on BBC from 9th May - looks good.

OP posts:

i enjoyed episode 2 a lot more

TracyHorrobin · 17/05/2021 06:59

I sat and watched all 3 episodes. I absolutely loved it.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 17/05/2021 08:19

I have 'I'm in with the in-crowd' playing on loop in my brain now!

LadyEloise · 17/05/2021 09:54

Oh Lordy ! How could Lily James play with that mouse ?Confused

Stripyhoglets1 · 17/05/2021 10:10

I watched it all last night after putting on the first episode and really enjoyed it. I think it's interesting to have different ways of presenting a period drama rather than them all being completely historically accurate. The modern music and Lily James will engage a younger audience too.

BettyCarver · 17/05/2021 10:32

Loved it. I thought it was very creatively produced and the music worked really well.

It reminded me that the only good thing about Bridgerton was the modern sound track!

Puttingouthefirewithgasoline · 17/05/2021 19:04

I loved it.

Fabulous fashions, set decor, short and sweet.

Lily was quite OK in it, I don't get why she's in every thing either, I am no fan but I liked her in this.

The music was OK, I prefer the music of the time though. I thought it was light hearted fun.

I think Fabrice is described as being very dark, stocky and not conventionally good looking. But Linda says she enjoyed the best sex of her life with him and she loved him until the end. I thought the TV Fabrice was too young and pretty. Awful blinding white Hollywood teeth too.

TatianaBis · 17/05/2021 22:12

In real life Gaston Palewski was not attractive, had severe halitosis and was a serial philanderer/lech.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 17/05/2021 22:15

Just watched the second episode. Much better than the first. I can forgive almost everything because of the perfection of the Kroesigs’ garden.

Horehound · 18/05/2021 21:19

Watched them all. Abrupt ending!

Can't think how Lilly and the guy had an affair they barely had two scenes together!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 19/05/2021 07:17

On the subject of Lily and DW having that fling, even worse is that his eldest DD was apparently in the drama too (playing one of the other children).

Horehound · 19/05/2021 08:18

Ugh!

AbsolutelyPatsy · 19/05/2021 08:33

I do like Lily James and she was perfect for the role

CaptainMyCaptain · 19/05/2021 09:45

@AbsolutelyPatsy

I do like Lily James and she was perfect for the role
Apart from being almost twice the age of the person she is playing.
SirVixofVixHall · 19/05/2021 09:49

@reprehensibleme

I've just checked and it was 1979 ffs and Jeremy Brett was Max, and Anna Massey was Mrs Danvers. Jeez I'm old......... Grin
Oh yes ! I had forgotten that.
GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 19/05/2021 10:06

Having read and really enjoyed the book more than once, I enjoyed this too. Ditto DH who’d never read it. IMO it was pretty faithful to the novel. People who haven’t read it may think it overdone or exaggerated, but there was a lot in the book that was outrageous by today’s standards.

I wish they’d included Uncle Matthew’s ‘classic’ ‘Abroad is unutterably bloody and foreigners are fiends!’
Ditto his practice of writing the name of anyone he disliked on a piece of paper and putting it in a drawer - in the hope that they’d die - and looking pleased but guilty if they did. 😱 but 😂 too.

Why not? Our family rats loved a cuddle.

She played Jassy who went to Hollywood(land).
ElderMillennial · 23/05/2021 12:44

This wasn't really on my radar but I just finished watching series three of Motherland (for the second time) and this started playing.

I'm not going to watch it right now but the opening sequence drew me in slightly.

andrewscottmaybe · 23/05/2021 19:03

I've name changed.
I'm 99.9% sure I saw Andrew Scott out for a walk with his Mum today in Dublin.
" I'll be watching you tonight on the telly." I wanted to say to him Smile
I didn't of course.

Heyduggee123 · 23/05/2021 21:34

I’ve loved this series

TheMoth · 23/05/2021 22:20

I'm glad I didn't read it first. So many things I watch are ruined cos I've always bloody read them. I sank into this like a warm bath. And really didn't see the ending coming. Glad we didn't have the lights on; dh would have taken the piss.

Clawdy · 23/05/2021 22:56

Didn't expect that sad ending.

Lizzie523 · 23/05/2021 23:00

I know @Clawdy it was fairly abrupt!
