Agree there's something going on with Steve, Kate and Jo.

The look between Jo and Steve in the interview, Steve walking up to Jo and Kate just before they are arrested and it's almost as if he's protecting them as he tells them to walk behind him and he's the one wearing as bullet proof vest. And then when Carmichael asks Steve if there is anything else he wants to share he just mentions Kate said about the print shop, not that Kate said Ryan confessed to murdering Maneet and Corbett. Very odd.

viques · 25/04/2021 23:30

@DIshedUp

Also Ryan was carefully placed through all the series for what? To briefly threaten Jo and then be killed? Seems a waste of a potentially really good story
To be fair he did two of the murders, and had a chance for two more, I think he earned his place in the cast list.
Mintyflesh · 25/04/2021 23:31

Maybe it's just all about eyebrows after all. Fake Spanish eyebrows/Steve's eyebrows/Teds eyebrows and one other? Who else has eyebrows with a personality of their own? They have formed their own very elite, powerful criminal syndicate. The (H)eyebrow club.

Yes, I definately thought a Steve was “protecting” them. Plus, there must have been communication with them given he’d left keys/phone etc in locker for Kate to pick up. Hopefully will be explained more next week.

@Mintyflesh can Neil Morrissey come back for the final brow off? Nice expressive forehead

Furries · 25/04/2021 23:38

I’ve set up Thread 8, given we’re nearly at the end of this one.

I don’t know how to attach a link though! If anyone more technically capable can do so, that would be appreciated 🤣

weewitch · 25/04/2021 23:39

Gutted that Ryan was killed off - such a waste given he's been in it since the start!

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 25/04/2021 23:41

@Interviewedundercaution

Those eyebrows are lower and less groomed than Nesbitt's. If Jo's mum was terrified of Hunter getting his hands on Jo, she would neither have killed herself nor fled to Spain.
Yeah, that didn’t make sense did it?

Did anyone notice the number of shots of the back of the interviewers in the glass box. Every time Carmichael had the AC-12 crest right in the middle of her back like a target. Also, I think the claims of plots lines being 'too obvious' are a bit unfair- there has been forensic investigation of every which way who said what and when on these threads alone, surely there are a finite (finate?) number of ways the story can run?

Mintyflesh · 25/04/2021 23:46

Yes, he definitely has eyebrow potential AND a Spanish connection.
I can't wait until The Final Brow Off next week.

Furries · 25/04/2021 23:47

@JaneJeffer - thank you!

GreenSlide · 25/04/2021 23:56

@AgathaTwisty

Next week better explain all the odd behaviour tonight. Episodes 4 and 5 were amazing, but tonight seemed to have massive plot holes.

Kate is always a by the book copper, but then she shoots someone and does a runner with someone who just tried to get her killed. Didn’t make any sense.

Carmichael might be a bitch, but she was always super straight. Why was she shutting down Ted and Jo in the interview when they were so close to finding the fourth man.

Why can’t Steve just talk to occ health. He’s only been taking otc painkillers. His test isn’t going to come back with class A drugs.

Not sure why there’s so much sympathy for Jo compared to previous lead bent cops.
She’s the worst of the lot. She’s framed innocent people and got them imprisoned and set Kate up to get murdered.

Finally. I can’t believe they killed Ryan and didn’t give him a grilling by Ted in the glass room. What a loss. It would have been amazing listening to that story.

Steve and the occ health and Ted and his forced retirement is all to give us the sensation of time running out. As if we didn't already know, there's only one episode left for everything to be revealed!
LadyEloise · 25/04/2021 23:56

@SophieB100 Jed didn't write Bloodlands but was involved in the series.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/04/2021 00:02

I’ve seen. Yah for iPlayer

Looks at zonked bubba

I have to say , agree with some of you , that was a bit boring (sorry)

Can’t beleive they killed run. Why didn’t they injure him

Not sure why kate and jo ran off rather then wait for Steve

Hope jo is safe in prison - glad the gruesome twosome saw the camera

Tho shame they did abs didn’t try something , then would be on tape

Carmichael is jobsworth not top dog

Tho weird how jo would say no comment a lot. Then reveal stuff

Hope nexts weeks is better. And yes working so will
IPlayer at midnight

Can also tell this wasn’t so good as new thread wasn’t needed yet ......

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/04/2021 00:03

I feel the same

He could have gone far

Nith · 26/04/2021 00:14

Ok it jumped the shark tonight. T’wad Kate running from the scene with Jo, after legitimately killing Ryan in self defence.

They both knew that, no matter how legitimate the killing was, it wouldn't necessarily be accepted automatically that it was self defence as there were no other witnesses.

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 26/04/2021 00:16

Torn between Patricia Bloody Carmichael being proper bent, or just a jobsworth, or (implausible but my preferred solution) a blinkered by the books copper who will come good at the end and help our heroes bring down the bad guys in the manner of Guy Pearce in LA Confidential.

Talking of movies, while watching Kelly Macdonald I really wanted them to do the Keyser Sose ending wherein she proves to be the kingpin all along and the world’s best actress. Implausible I know given how many private scenes we’ve seen of her looking tortured while nobody else is looking. But I’ve seen so many detective series where the suspect looks the detective in the eye and says “I know it looks bad but I swear I’m innocent. YOU’VE GOT TO BELIEVE ME!!” And they’re always sodding innocent. I want her to be benter than a nine bob note.

TedisnotH · 26/04/2021 00:18

Oh, just thought of a really great idea, but forgot it. Too much wine from playing LoD bingo, tonight

Love the fact that you’re admitting you’ve thought of a great idea and now forgotten it 😂

Hopefully it will come back to you in the morning 🤞🏻

jugglingeverything · 26/04/2021 06:41

So many people seem to think Jo's mum not dead. My initial reaction was that she's dead but murdered and made to look like suicude. Like so many other characters. Perhaps she threatened to take Jo away or was going to tell her the truth about Tommy. If he is capable of raping his sister then he is capable of murdering her too. Not sure how they would ever find this out mind, but if they put it to Jo as a theory perhaps that would be what finally makes her give everyone up. I also think she beleived Thirwell to be her father. That interview must have been so hard for her.

Bluntness100 · 26/04/2021 06:52

I think jo and Kate were running because they were trying to solve it and they know Carmichael is in on it and jos life would be in danger and potentially kates if they thought she knew. And Steve knows too. That’s why he helped them and then tried to protect them.

They were trying to get evidence, there must be someone above Carmichael calling the shots. I don’t believe ted is bent, I believe he’s been set up in case they ever need something on him.

Ulysses · 26/04/2021 06:58

I'm not convinced everything is going to be able to be wrapped up next week.

I do think Marcus Thurwell is dead and on someone's orders, which would make it Osbourne. He's the only corrupt police officer that's been consistent through all of the series and it would make the very first episode come around full circle. Carmichael's in his pocket but only from a point of her own ambition rather than any involvement she might have from the OCG. I think AMM is overplaying the character terribly. All those smirks and ultra low voice.

Not sure who the Bent Copper father figure would be. Could be Thurwell. As a character he does seem shoehorned in. I think the night footage of his death was to setup the fact that Jimmy Nesbitt wasn't available for filming.

The contents of the garage floor is setup for a significant reveal.

The chase scene with Kate and Jo was a bit strange, all very high octane. I suppose it shows the depth of the relationship between Steve and Kate and Jo proving that she's not bent. Jo seems to have a strange code of honour that's she's willing to claim to have killed Ryan (albeit to protect Kate) but won't reveal what she knows about the OCG.

PomLikeTheBattle · 26/04/2021 07:12

I really like that this series isn’t as violent.

Also feel Steve, Kate & Jo are playing something out.
Was a bit strange that Steve and Ted didn’t have a debrief about Carmichael’s behaviour in the interview room, I was ready for a ‘she’s bent alright convo’ but perhaps it wasn’t needed between them as they both knew.

ImAncient · 26/04/2021 07:19

I can’t remember if anyone mentioned upthread but did anyone notice Ted’s face when mentioning Banks in prison? A mere flicker but it was there. Will have to rewatch later.

Ted cannot be bent, I’ll cry & it won’t be pretty.
