'I also think Carmichael is trying to stop ted solving it, because she’s involved and that’s why she’s been put in that position'

I think she's just a jobsworth and wants to be Queen of AC.

It all seems a bit meh this series imo. Not gripping like earlier series, all the stares and pauses just seem overly done and why tf did Kate go to the lorry lark in the first place never mind run away driving like a lunatic. Think Jed needs to move on to a new series..

Stormer · 25/04/2021 22:28

Ok it jumped the shark tonight. T’wad Kate running from the scene with Jo, after legitimately killing Ryan in self defence. I thought they’d driven off because they were both undercover and had to hide but no, there didn’t seem to be some specific plan.

And then after fleeing the scene but being hunted down, she thinks it’s unfair that she’s been looked for and refuses at first to hand over her gun? HmmConfusedGrin

mrsmacmc · 25/04/2021 22:28

@EsmaCannonball I could get behind this theory - love it 😂 ❤️

RomPom · 25/04/2021 22:29

@Zampa Chris looks a lot like one of the mugshots in the Lawrence Christopher murder.

CheekyWeeShite · 25/04/2021 22:29

Running late here so will go back and read but I have questions...

  1. why did Kate say “we’re being framed” - framed for what?!

  2. Who do we think was the bent copper that Jo thought was her dad until that interview - Osborne, Thurwell or someone else?

  3. No way that body was Thurwell, right?

Surely they are going to reveal that Carmichael used to head up AC-9. Surely. She’s more bent than any of them.

TheMoth · 25/04/2021 22:30

I think bent carmichael is too obvious. Agree with pp- jobsworth and incurious. She may think she's been promoted cos she's great, but maybe it's because she won't go off piste.

Also agree that we didn't see Thurwell's face. Don't think Jo is quite dead yet.

Tenementfunster · 25/04/2021 22:31

Might have been said... jo mum was issued an interim death certificate/ coroner thingy. Why interim ? That was bugging me.
Was her mum shacked up in Spain with Jimmy on the costas? I think jimmy was her father figure growing up.

I think we’ve not seen the last of jimmy and his beautiful head of hair

PhillipPhillop · 25/04/2021 22:31

Apart from the wee donkey was God and his holy mother a new one?

I think Jed has overly complicated the last two series a bit. So many sub plots and characters as you say stares and pauses to try and lead the viewer down a rabbit hole.

The first few series seemed more focused.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 25/04/2021 22:32

I thought she might shoot herself too! My theory is that Sindhwani is H and has resigned to make it look as though it's Osborne. But what do I know ....

SophieB100 · 25/04/2021 22:32

I think it was Thurwell who was dead. James Nesbitt was desperate for a part in LOD - so I think this was Jed's way of granting him that by shoehorning his photo into it (they worked together on Bloodlands, which Jed wrote). So, he's in LOD, without having to actually act in it, if you get my drift.

SquirtleSquad · 25/04/2021 22:33

I wonder if Carmichael is the daughter/widow/sister of H but feel like it's too obvious now. Maybe she's just an absolute jobsworth.
DH thinks Kates co-worker (the tall one who was at the work shop) is related to Dot Cotton.

YouKnobhead · 25/04/2021 22:33

The Spanish door is still very much open for Nige to be the head honcho.

Agree with pp that Thurwell could be the officer Jo thinks is her Dad, plus not impossible that her mum is still alive.

unique1986 · 25/04/2021 22:34

I prefer this series to series 5.
But I do enjoy the more personal relationship which had not happened as much as i originally thought.
And yes the interview scenes do get repetitive

NotAnotherPushyMum · 25/04/2021 22:35

I think Jo, Steve and Kate came up with some sort of plan whilst they were driving around. Not sure what the plan is but Steve seemed pleased with the way Jo had played it in the interview.

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 25/04/2021 22:35

I wondered if Kate wanted to chat to jo and find out what was happening and that's why they ran.
A crap theory I know but all I have 🤣

BlessedDD · 25/04/2021 22:35

I’m sorry guys I flipping fell asleep this week!

Clawdy · 25/04/2021 22:36

I needed subtitles all the way through the interview scene - so many different names!

PennyRoyal · 25/04/2021 22:36

@Welshwabbit

I thought it made a weird kind of sense for Kate to run off with Jo. She knew AMM had turned up at AC12. She wanted to get answers out of Jo to understand wtf was going on. She knew she couldn't count on AC12 to do that if AMM was running the show. So she went rogue to try togetthe answers. Plus I think she genuinely liked Jo.

Agreed WW. Kate thought she'd use that time to get as much out of Jo as she could.

Also agree with PPs, Carmichael is a puppet of Osborne (or the police commissioner?) I think she's unlikely to be bent but easily malleable!

Newgirls · 25/04/2021 22:38

@PrincessScarlett

I think the whole point of Jo and Kate running off was because neither of them trust certain police officers so they could talk more freely. Once arrested they wouldn't be allowed to talk to one another. Granted, not much was given away talk wise but Jo was deliberately taking Kate to various locations so I think there was a message there somewhere.
Yes I think you’re right
LemonTT · 25/04/2021 22:39

@colouringindoors

Osbourne is H with Carmichael an ambitious brown-nose.
The only issue with Osbourne is that it’s too obvious. Same with Carmichael. I agree she is a brown nose with a strong dislike of Ted. She also the epitome of someone who puts career before service.

Osbourne was either instrumental in the Lawrence cover up, misleading the investigation. Or he was like Buckles just willing to go along with it. The former means he is a player. The later means he is a patsy and therefore there is someone else still pulling the strings. I’m putting my money on Wise being the woman behind the man, Osbournes Ryan.

Yeah, series 5 was weak by Line of Duty standards. This one is better, but not on a par with previous series. Too confusing, too many characters and plot lines in play and no really compelling central hero/villain like Tony Gates or Lindsay Denton. Hopefully the finale next week will make it all make sense.
Midlifeponderer · 25/04/2021 22:39

I think the female prison officer characters have become ridiculous now. If they had moustaches, they’d be twirling them and laughing in a pantomime villain fashion.

Graffittiunderpass · 25/04/2021 22:40

I really hope Carmichael ends up in the glass box getting grilled next week

mrsmacmc · 25/04/2021 22:41

@Tenementfunster bugging me too as it usually means there isn't a body? My brain hurts tonight
