Darn it Dogatetheleftovers! Don’t tantalise me: now I want to see the spoiler. Any spoiler. I’d happily watch the last two episodes NOW, while DC iron their own school shirts and get down to the barber.

Thebirdstbeseathebirds · 19/04/2021 08:17

'Mother of god I'm floating up the Langham the wrong way but can I just check, the 3 'H' so far are Hunter, Hilton and Biggeloe? I'm watching tonight's episode again and am confused with my back pain medication..

LAGAN! It's the river Lagan that flows through Belfast. Keep her lit.

Thebirdstbeseathebirds · 19/04/2021 08:19

'Because they are both black and she's upset by police racism and the murder of a black man'

good for Jed for acknowledging that a black police officer would feel this a lot more, I thought she was way too calm at first then they let her actually show some emotion.

ConnectedToSandsview · 19/04/2021 08:21

Everything about this series feels like they’re leading up to it being the last series.

I know series 7 is being talked about, but tying up the bent coppers from all previous seasons, Steve in trouble with occ health, Ted being retired off, it seems like they’re trying to tie everything up.

What day is the shrine of duty podcast released?

ceeveebeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep · 19/04/2021 08:25

Shrine of duty is released on Wednesday mornings
Obsessed with line of duty was released last night but I’ve not listened yet (Vicky McLure is on it this week)

PawFives · 19/04/2021 08:25

Great episode, another cliffhanger and another week of sleuthing here! Not sure about the specific DNA match with Jo and Hunter but there’s got to be more because she’s protecting someone which has allowed her to become blackmailed and coerced.
I wonder if the James Nesbitt character ties back to N Ireland? He’s definitely (also not H) not an actor who does accents remember
the ridiculous explanation in Cold Feet about why he was simultaneously from Manchester and NI!

Buggerthebotox · 19/04/2021 08:25

I think Shrine is broadcast around mid week. Something to look forward to. Smile

AvonCallingBarksdale · 19/04/2021 08:25

Great episode apart from AMM who I find really irritating. I think she’s great in Motherland but it’s too much in LOD.
Thought it was great when Chloe explained why she was upset to Steve and then said “wouldn’t anyone be?” or words to that effect.

PawFives · 19/04/2021 08:27

PS agree with others, Chloe isn’t related to anyone plot wise, she’s just a good copper who found the Christopher murder and cover up appalling.

ceeveebeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep · 19/04/2021 08:29

Agree with previous posters who think AMM is playing the character like a parody of Nicola Walker - lots of strangely timed pauses!

Buggerthebotox · 19/04/2021 08:32

I like the way Chloe's character has developed. I thought she was dodgy at first, especially last episode when she was looking decidedly uncomfortable but now the racism has been revealed, I think it's genuine distress she's displaying. I actually felt quite sorry for her when the Fairbank interview didn't go her way.

LadyEloise · 19/04/2021 08:33

Now I want to know what dogatetheleftovers wrote that had to be deleted because some thought it was a spoiler.
How could it be a spoiler if we can only watch week by week ?
Has dog got inside information or did we miss something?

Buggerthebotox · 19/04/2021 08:33

So glad others are also find AMM too much.

Violetroselily · 19/04/2021 08:35

There is a screenshot of Jimmy Nesbitts service record (not sure if it's been posted on here, think I saw on Twitter) and it doesnt look like there's any reference to Ireland or the RUC. So perhaps unlikely that him and Ted have the historic connection.

Piggywaspushed · 19/04/2021 08:35

Ermmm... I am Scottish. We had this discussion last series!

There is a tendency in Glasgow and in N Ireland to pronounce definitely either definettly or defin8tly.

This leads to misspellings. It's a Jed clue.

I can tell you, as an English teacher, it is definately one of the most misspelt words in all home countries. But he definately points to an accent.

In terms of spoilers, I know we have a definition that includes things , imo, very much in the public domain which both the BBC and LOD Twitter expect us to have seen or see. If we really are determined not to see or discuss these things, avoid Shrine of Duty.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 19/04/2021 08:36

I also think the vague talk of series 7 has been a red herring as it all feels like it’s heading to a conclusion in two weeks.

Jed M has said that Hastings told Lee Banks about Corbett because he stupidly thought it would make Corbett run back to the police for safety. Ie well intentioned (but nowhere near as plausible as JM reckons it was).

The ‘definately’ has never worked, as JM’s (and Hasting’s) explanation that Hastings had practised the misspelling didn’t make sense seeing as the police only had the metadata of the conversations, not the text (and quite how the metadata meant they knew roughly what sort of conversations were going on is outside my sphere of knowledge). That has irritated me since series 5 was first aired. BUT if there is some theory that definately is a common misspelling in Scotland and Northern Ireland (and I’ve only read that on these threads I think!) then a character played by James Nesbitt would probably also fit the bill - we also spotted the Spanish connection and shouted it at the TV.

At the shootout presumably the fact that Kate is a trained and experienced AFO and Ryan is a thug using a workshopped gun evened things out a bit? Although hiding somewhere to jump out and throat slit would have been the guaranteed and tested way for him to bump her off, which is why I don’t think she’s dead. But I do think it’s the end of Ryan - we’ll miss his ever increasing evil stares.

And Carl Banks killed Gail Vella, not Ryan. We’ve known that for ages. It’s not that relevant - the issue is who ordered it and why.

Nith · 19/04/2021 08:36

If Steve had taken and failed a drugs test, I don't think it would be OH that were trying to reach him, or that it would be just by email

We saw him being called for the drugs test, didn't we? Or is it going to turn out that he found an excuse not to take it? Either way, those painkillers must be pretty good given that they allow him to run around and move freely most of the time, and don't have any effect in terms of his mental functioning.

MazekeenSmith · 19/04/2021 08:37

@LadyEloise

It was from the episode description for next week from the BBC Sure you can find it if you look it up
vannyy · 19/04/2021 08:37

Did Jo recognise the dead bearded man on the floor of the workshop? was he the one who gave her a burner in the car when she cried.

Also what was the significance of the guy in jail saying ask your boss re John? Did Hastings cause his death? hence the money to the wife.

scarecrow22 · 19/04/2021 08:37

Okay, flipped the thread and now more confused than before.

One thing that’s been bothering me for most of this series is SURELY the police would have done background checks on Ryan and Jo (as with all recruits?) and - at the v least in Ryan’s case - found out all this, er, background that the detectives are uncovering....

(And PettyPlotPoint (PPP) warning Jo lists somebody as her next-of-kin and that person is dead...is that so suspicious? Maybe her mum/aunt/sister/partner died and she didn’t immediately think “right, I must fill in form THAC-3 to change next-of-kin ASAP”. And then the moment passed, so to speak.)

PPP. Hmm, have you noticed it’s another sign of three? Hmm Hope this doesn’t fall foul of MNHQ guidelines

Nith · 19/04/2021 08:38

H can't have autocorrect on his computer, otherwise "definately" would keep coming out as "defiantly".

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 19/04/2021 08:38

There are very few characters that make me want to punch them but Carmichael is one of them. (Phil Mitchell being the other when he's trying to be the hard man)

awaynboilyurheid · 19/04/2021 08:39

AMM is a great love to hate character, however it this series, unlike the fab trio, Jo’s (Kelly) acting is still wooden and her over enunciating every word grates a bit.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 19/04/2021 08:39

Sorry @Piggywaspushed. Cross-posted with you re definately.

Also forgot to add that I also think Chloe is nothing to do with any other character. Who indeed wouldn’t be upset by hearing about police behaving like that? She has inherited the Maneet/Tatleen role of exposition though.

Piggywaspushed · 19/04/2021 08:39

OP what was said about the DNA was that there was a run of homozygotic something or other. This points to incest.
