Is back 18th April. I'm so glad we are getting a series this year, I find it such great escapism.

Is anyone else a fan?

What’s wrong with me? I’ve loved this series for years but it just seemed different somehow. The magic had gone that poor woman too, Christmas Island.

Holothane · 18/04/2021 21:20

Elderflower 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐

WinterHoliday · 18/04/2021 21:21

I watched a documentary about a year ago on iPlayer all about the nuclear testing on Christmas Island. Not sure if it is still on there. It was fascinating but horrifying. I guess Heidi Thomas must have seen it too as one of the details I remember was a man saying he could see all the bones in his hand when the bomb exploded. As soon as the mother mentioned her husband being in the south seas I remembered it and I thought that's where the storyline might be going.

Elderflower14 · 18/04/2021 21:24

That scene when her friend tried to cross the road.....I had that happen to me.
When Ivan Cameron died the late and much missed Rev Ruth Scott asked me and another Mner to help her put together a piece on childloss for Radio 2...

BRB2021 · 18/04/2021 21:27

Wished they change Monica Joan's script. Been the same boring dragging her arse around miserably for the last 3 series.

jay55 · 18/04/2021 21:30

Sorry to all those who have had losses.

I went to the Atomic testing museum in Las Vegas and it showed videos of people who used to watch the tests as a tourist attraction, special sunglasses were sold.

Almost all the workers and their families died of cancer. It was a very depressing place.

How I wish it was someone, anyone, other than doctor Turner who was dealing with it.

Though the smarmy posh doctor is just as bad.

EastWestWhosBest · 18/04/2021 21:32

I loved it.
CTM was my lockdown watch. I started rewatching at the beginning of lockdown.

That must have been so hard to watch Elderflower.

MirandaMarple · 18/04/2021 21:55

It's back and I feel all warm, fuzzy and contented.

Need to paint my front door that glorious blue colour outside Fred's shop!

BrettAndersonscheekbones · 18/04/2021 21:57

Trixie and the smarmy posh doctor to have a fling?
It looks different because it's socially distanced which is a bit distracting.

BlessedDD · 18/04/2021 22:04

Sorry if it’s answered somewhere but I find all the teal so overpowering and off putting now ... I’ve seen it done in other films too - why?!

Maggiesfarm · 18/04/2021 22:07

I thoroughly enjoyed tonight's episode and have just watched Call the Midwife: Casebook on BBC4 which is fascinating!

Lucille and Cyril will almost certainly tie the knot or at least be closer to it in this series.

I, too, wondered about Trixie and the doctor at the clinic; he is a lot older than her but very nice indeed, good looking too. I didn't think he was going to be a sympathetic character at first but when he handed the reins over to Trixie, I liked him. Hopefully he has no wife! However next week's episode seems to concern something negative involving Trixie and the woman she delivered in the clinic so we shall see.

I missed the end when Sister Monica told Fred what was up with her. Can anyone enlighten me please?

Maireas · 18/04/2021 22:10

She's lost her faith

Clawdy · 18/04/2021 22:33

Cyril is so gorgeous. That smile!

CliffsofMohair · 18/04/2021 22:41

Elderflower 💐 and baby DS 🧸

DieSchottin93 · 18/04/2021 22:42

Cyril and Lucille need to get married asap!

They story with the radiation poisoning was so sad,as soon as the couple said they'd been trying a few years for a baby I knew things wouldn't end well for them Sad

Does anyone else find the fake bumps really distracting? Half the women look like they have a pillow shoved up their dresses. Considering the whole plot revolves around pregnancy/midwifery you'd think they'd be able to make them more realistic Hmm

PleaseStopExplaining · 18/04/2021 22:50

That was good. Nice way to end a Sunday.

But as much as I love CTM I’m not convinced it can sustain three more series after this one.

parsnipsnotsprouts · 18/04/2021 22:56

I can’t say a dead baby cheered up
My Sunday evening

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 18/04/2021 22:56

I'm so happy ctm is back!

Dr Turner was as annoying as ever, when he was rude to Sister Julienne I could have slapped him - how dare he speak to her like that!!

Really hope Lucille and Cyril get married ASAP, they are cute together.

Elderflower I'm so sorry for your loss 💐

I thought the storyline was handled sensitively and I'm glad the couple had time with the baby, my Grandmother had a son who died at birth and he was whisked away. She never recovered from not being able to see him 😢

I found the constant soppy music humming in the background off putting, do they normally have that going? It's the first time I've noticed it!

Maireas · 18/04/2021 22:57

No, and sadly I don't think there's much hope for that couple.

Foolintherain · 18/04/2021 22:59

I found the SD made it seem a bit awkward.

Maireas · 18/04/2021 22:59

That was in agreement with @parsnipsnotsprouts

ferryblue · 19/04/2021 02:51

I’ve never been able to stomach CTM tbh. Everybody in it is so nice and perfect and goody goody and nobody in real life is that flawless, nobody.

Sister Monica Joan is just irritating and I think she needs to go now.

ferryblue · 19/04/2021 02:53

I enjoy the stories about the babies and parents, and watch for those. But I fast forward all of the recurring characters personal stories and can’t bare SMJ’s rambling.

Toddlerteaplease · 19/04/2021 05:40

Missed it as I am
On nights. But my friend thought it was crap.
