Is back 18th April. I'm so glad we are getting a series this year, I find it such great escapism.

Is anyone else a fan?

Very unprofessional of Saint Shelagh to give nurse Corrigan a dressing down in hearing of the patients.

Optimist1 · 17/05/2021 11:44

Personally, I'd like Tim to announce that he'd prefer to become a nurse than a doctor. Then the girls can start expressing interest in being doctors. Put that in your sanctimonious pipe and smoke it, Dr T!

As an aside, I noticed last night that whenever he's mansplaining he does that annoying head tilt. Makes me shudder!

Soubriquet · 17/05/2021 11:46

Can someone PM me this spoiler please

ThatIsMyPotato · 17/05/2021 11:48

@DobbyTheHouseElk

I thought I saw a spoiler. As soon as it happened I thought . How predictable.
I'm going to have to watch the whole thing again!
RevolvingPivot · 17/05/2021 12:00

Was anyone hoping Tim would fail 😳😆

SpindleWhorl · 17/05/2021 12:11

I think it's ok to quote a line from last night and genuinely speculate.

But not to draw in stuff you've read online or in the media or from interviews. That would be spoilers.

Guessing is not spoilers.

EastWestWhosBest · 17/05/2021 12:24

My guess is that there is something to do with Mae’s mum. It was the mention of her still being alive that made me wonder.

I thought he might.

It did show how grades have changed though - he wouldn't have got into med school with a B now I don't think.

Soubriquet · 17/05/2021 12:28

Well we knew he wouldn’t

I mean, he’s a Turner remember. They are just perfect and can never do anything wrong

SpindleWhorl · 17/05/2021 13:01

I was personally very disappointed in Timothy for that B.

SpindleWhorl · 17/05/2021 13:03

Oh yes, the mention of Mae's mum. I didn't realise it was a fostering arrangement. Doomed, then.

eggandonion · 17/05/2021 13:05

I thought it was going to be a complication from Tim's polio...it was polio that affected his legs?

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 17/05/2021 13:09

But the mother is in HK and can't afford to look after her daughter (shows the pitfalls of international adoption...)

Knowing the Turner's it's will probably be something happening allowing Mae to finally be adopted.

I went down a rabbit hole on reading about adoption in the Sixties last night. So many sad stories of girls being forced to give up their babies.

Soubriquet · 17/05/2021 13:10

Ah I remember now

Mae’s mother refused to sign the adoption agreement as she originally wanted Mae back, but wouldn’t be able to due to her job.

She signed an agreement so that the Turners have parental rights, but no official adoption agreement

Me too. I was predicting all A*
Toddlerteaplease · 17/05/2021 13:27

I didn't spot the spoiler either? Give us a clue.

MedusasBadHairDay · 17/05/2021 13:53

I'd like to see them introduce a new doctor, just to break up Dr Turner somehow knowing the answer to all diseases no matter how rare. Was it the norm to only have one doctor at a surgery at that time? If so when do you start to see multiple gp's? Maybe a female doctor would be an interesting dynamic.

CaptainMyCaptain · 17/05/2021 13:57

@eggandonion

I'm worried about tim, I think he should become a biochemist or something. I think hed be lacking in bedside manner.
I thought he showed a lot of empathy talking to Glenn.
SoupDragon · 17/05/2021 14:09

Me too. I was predicting all A*

Ah, but A* didn't exist back then. That said, I think the Turners might have invented them 🤔

SoupDragon · 17/05/2021 14:10

I think Tim showed a lot of empathy too.

Far more than that obnoxious doctor they showed seeing pregnant women a few episodes ago. The one who basically treated them as thick cattle.

SpindleWhorl · 17/05/2021 14:16

@Toddlerteaplease, it's more of a speculative punt than a spoiler, based on lines from last night.

Possibilities:

  1. Mae gets taken away from the Turners by her mum / the children's home people.
  2. Tim has a resurgence of polio that means he doesn't go to Edinburgh Burke and Hare School.
  3. Trixie pisses off Lucille by stealing her thunder with an early cheese-plant themed wedding.
SarahAndQuack · 17/05/2021 14:19

Late to it, but I enjoyed that much more than the last few. The Turners celebrating Tim's results was grim and I have to switch off for Dr T's scenes, but I thought Miss Higgins was brilliant. I'd love to see more of her. And the young couple with the baby were very good too.

I really, really hope Nurse Corrigan ends up taking St Shelagh down a peg or two. Someone needs to. How appallingly arrogant to presume, if you adopted a baby, you're the right person to talk to a young woman giving up a baby for adoption? You must be one of the last people she'd want to hear from!

My nephew is distinctly lacking in bedside manners/ empathy/ communication skills. Fortunately for his patients he is an anaesthetist so patient contact is minimal. Grin
