Thank you! I looked up this thread to see if anyone could tell me where I'd seen her before. I remember her with long straight hair being a few years younger, but couldn't place her!

I feel like their regular supply of premature babies must have been cut off this year. They’re still a lot younger than in any American program but not up to the usual newborn standards

Mum was a pregnant teen in 1970/1, not long after this really.
Glad she didn't have my sister adopted out.

I had pku mentioned several lectures at uni. Tonight's episode has made me want to look back at my notes. Dp looked rather impressed when I managed to whittle off some of basics from the recesses of my brain

It was a choice. But single mothers could not rent anywhere on their own, or get any benefits to support themselves, and often wouldn't find employment. The only option was to stay with their own parents and if they were not willing....

I actually wished that Glen and her had stuck up for themselves and said they would manage somehow....but she had dreams of uni and he was working locally, so one of them would have had to change plans.

Just watched the first ever three episodes. Jenny Lee was sooo irritating! Loved all the other characters though.

Trixie did look young too. I was surprised how well I remembered them. Think I'll work through them all again.

I loved that first series the most. The old soldier Joe, baby Gillian being kidnapped, the old brother and sister who lived together after coming out of the workhouse, Ted and Winnie Hughes having a baby. Those were dark times in the east end but all of those earlier series were based on real stories. Proper quality drama!

I don't think we have seen the conclusion of tonight's adoption story
