Is back 18th April. I'm so glad we are getting a series this year, I find it such great escapism.

Is anyone else a fan?

Loved the cheese-plant (were they even a thing back in the 60s?)
They were.

@NewModelArmyMayhem18

The contrast between Timothy just about to go off to study medicine and his former fellow 'Scout' about to become a father (and then having his baby taken away from him). So sad.

Loved the cheese-plant (were they even a thing back in the 60s?) being a friendship not love token to Trixie. Anyone like to guess how many more episodes it will be before she and the widower give in to their feelings (just like something out of a Mills & Boon novel!)?

How many episodes left in this series…? 🤔 Lucille & Cyril need to get married first as they’re already engaged, although maybe we could see the saintly Lucille lose her cool over being upstaged, as of course she and smiley Cyril have to wait for their respective families to sail over. Would many of the young midwives who’ve been and gone show up for Trixie finally bagging her man? Would love a bit of a reunion, but then of course SMJ would probably proclaim her final piece of wisdom at the small party (held at Nonnatus House of course, and with a peculiar lack of guests from the groom’s side) then either Shelagh or Dr T would notice that she wasn’t just asleep.
NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 17/05/2021 07:36

I've just seen it''s only seven episodes (+1 = Christmas special), so maybe there won't be a wedding at all this season? We've only got two more episodes to watch haven't we?

The day SMJ shuffles off this mortal coil is the day CTM ends IMO!

Sunbird24 · 17/05/2021 07:59

Apparently Miriam Margoyles is coming back for the next series…

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 17/05/2021 08:07

I have just read something that potentially constitutes a spoiler based on a 'throw-away comment' made in last night's episode.

HerMammy · 17/05/2021 08:16

SMJ is beyond overdone now, she needs to shuffle off. Listening to her monologues has me reaching for mute.

I thought of this thread when I watched. I don't post here but read sometimes and my god, the bloody doctor! It's so predictable and tiresome how he gets everything right. Timothy is an even worse character, he can't do a thing wrong.

I need to know what this is!

I think Shelagh needs to go off and train to be a doctor!
She will be training doctors next episode Grin
Sunbird24 · 17/05/2021 08:47

Twenty years from now Timmys inherited Turner god complex is going to get out of control and he’s going to end up like Harold Shipman. Why wait? Could start with an elderly nun…🤭

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 17/05/2021 08:51

I need to know what this is! Are spoilers allowed on this thread though?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 17/05/2021 09:00

CTM is one big spoiler.

Drama birth/mother poorly/baby poorly/destitute nuns.

Shelagh and Dr T save the day again.

The end. Grin

Oh and weddings. Shelagh will run up a wedding dress in between consultations. And grow the flowers. And cobble the shoes. And still find time to tick of Nance.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 17/05/2021 09:01

I think I’ve twigged the spoiler.

Am shutting my marf....

DobbyTheHouseElk · 17/05/2021 09:06

I thought I saw a spoiler. As soon as it happened I thought . How predictable.

Notcomfortablynumbatall · 17/05/2021 09:08

If it had been properly focused on the midwives and not the increasingly appalling Turner family last night’s lead storylines should have been

(1) Sister Julienne and the lady giving birth to a baby she feared was going to have a life-limiting condition. There was a tiny flash of this during the birth as Sister Julienne tried to boost her confidence. Women supporting women. What we actually got was Sister Julienne supporting Dr Turner by doing the PKU tests. She shouldn’t be his handmaiden!

(2) the teen mum being forced to give up her baby and the interplay between her, Shelagh who has benefitted from 2 such adoptions, and Outspoken Irish Nun. It would have been good to see Shelagh reflect a bit more on the pain that the mothers of her children went through and maybe even change her views a little or become more self-aware. (Hollow laugh).

Timmy’s A-levels should have been a tiny side story and only as a contrast to Teen Mum and Teen Dad. It certainly shouldn’t have been the start and end of the episode.

Good, I hope she catches young “Dr” Timothy reading and commenting on confidential medical records and gives him a clip round his ear, watch out Sister, he’s still wet behind them , but don’t let that stop you.
GreenClock · 17/05/2021 09:37

I quite enjoyed the sight of Saint Shelagh having a crafty fag. Grin

LilQueenie · 17/05/2021 10:24

I too need to know this spoiler.

SoupDragon · 17/05/2021 10:30

I don't want to know any spoilers

Maerchentante · 17/05/2021 10:36

So do I :)

Late checking in, but did anyone else notice that Timothy did not look very happy about his university admission? Almost like he's doing it because it is expected of him.
Likewise Lucille when talking about the presents she got, she seem to show some regret.

WRT the spoiler, I wonder if it has anything to do with the adoption story line and Saint Timmy's comment how about the Church adoption home.

Palavah · 17/05/2021 10:40

Surely if you tell us the throwaway comment that prompted your thought but tell us nothing else that's not a spoiler?

SoupDragon · 17/05/2021 10:41

I think Lucille and the presents were because she hated the ugly placemats (plus opening them without Cyril like she said) I don't think she regrets the engagement.

The fact that her family aren't there must be tough.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 17/05/2021 10:43

Bet the cast are hoping for a very sunny christmas wedding episode 😎

I would be!!! Grin

DareIask · 17/05/2021 10:54

Maybe Tim is going to be a monk instead of a doctor.

Possibly making Dr & Mrs combust with pride

eggandonion · 17/05/2021 11:05

I'm worried about tim, I think he should become a biochemist or something. I think hed be lacking in bedside manner.
