I don't get the dying declaration thing either. There was nobody close to record it as a video, was there?

Unless that's some kind of weird double-bluff as well.

They said it was a body cam, which would make sense. But only if there was someone nearby!

Can I just say how much I love this thread? I'm obsessed with LoD and meeting other obsessives is really great 👍

I don't think Steve will turn, he's always been so straight. I think Kate is more of an opportunist and more ambitious. She lied about her affair with Richard Akers and she nearly slept with Dot....she rarely sees her son, too consumed with work. I think she will turn, if she hasnt already....Steve is more principled.

I wish he'd get back with Jolly.

I just saw someone on YouTube talking about the flat no. - 4F - and the writing on Steve's coffee cup in ep. 1 - Fast, fresh, fabulous food - 4 F's, and whether this in fact means "H" is in fact "F" 🤔

If you could have any character back from a previous series who would you choose? I'd like to see what is happening with Jodie, Roz Huntley's very loyal and earnest side-kick. I suspect she is now directing traffic or left the force altogether having got it so wrong about her mentor.
And is PC Bannerjee who took an interest in Ryan early on a good cop or a bad cop?

That's the slogan of the real cafe in Belfast where I believe that scene was filmed so that can most likely be discounted! They were just using the cafe's own cups www.snaxncity.com/delivers.html

Rewatched the end of S3 last night, Kate was recording Dot's dying statement... and there was no one near them to be recording the "H/four dots" on their body cam. Doh!

The video comes later when the paramedics arrive - you see them moving in as the camera pulls back. Then in the video you see the paramedics working around the edge of the frame.

I'd like Nige and Dot back. they brought some dark humour I felt. Nige is at least a possibility!

All the series are on BBC Iplayer right now. I have just started watching Series 1 again!

I did consider that cheekyweeshite, but iirc in s5 she started the recording when the paramedics were already arriving in the background, whereas she started when no one was around in s3.

The recording of the 'dying declaration' flat out doesn't work - it's all just been retconned for the storyline. I would advise not spending time on it! A wizard did it and ran away.

Although we were firmly told last series that H was four, and not H, given that H has reappeared in the series itself again, I wonder if H is Hillside - the whole station is rotten?

There's the one we saw in s3 which is the recorded version, then there's another version in which Kate repeated the first version but with whoever made the recording present. It also includes the "four dots" which we didn't see in the first version. That video could have been altered to replicate Dot's twitching fingers.

Ok I know it's a crap hypothesis but it supports the theory that Kate is bent. As far as we know, she could have invented H herself. .

I’ve literally just rewatched it in the last few days.

She is already recording before the paramedics move in, and he’s talking. Around the time the paramedics move in, he says something about Fairbank but you can’t hear what he’s saying. The camera pulls away.

On the video of the declaration, she’s continuing trying to get him to talk. Then he starts struggling to talk, then he can’t talk and we get to the blinking part.

I used to think the same but it does work.

To be fair I think Jed wrote S1 as a stand-alone series like The Bodyguard, then got commissioned for me. I don’t think any of this was planned when season 1 was written, and who knows when the longer term plan was established.
