I’m here 10-4.

Buggerthebotox · 25/03/2021 13:41

So no discussing characters/ incidents from previous series then? That may be quite difficult!

Fair enough I suppose, for those in the enviable position of not having watched all 5 series.

YouKnobhead · 25/03/2021 13:49

I took the no spoilers to mean not looking up the series six cast list on or IMDb, for example, to see who will pop up again in the future of series six, but any discussion over past characters based on what's been shown before is fair play as part of the guessing game?

I quite like being reminded of characters past and wondering if they'll have a role again. Makes the discussion broader.

Happy to go with the majority though.

We can discuss characters, plots etc that have happened in this or previous series as it is assumed that everyone has seen the past 5 series (if they haven’t then that’s their choice to be involved with the thread!)
The issue is with talking about future characters, if they haven’t already been seen on this new series Smile

storminabuttercup · 25/03/2021 14:00

To be fair the returning character was in all the pre show articles I just hadn't seen it. Apologies anyway

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/03/2021 14:00

Agree fine to discuss stuff in previous 5. I watched al last year after never seeing before. Loved them

Meant lisa said wasn’t Ryan. Wish could edit at time

Couldn’t think of M name

But agree no spoilers of who might come back if seen their name etx on credits

I don’t want to know what will happen

But love talking about theories

@SuperintendenHastingsAsYouWere

Did anyone else notice when Jo and Kate were discussing that it may not have been Terry in the flat and it could have been someone else, Kate said something like from neighbour statements the bloke was described as ‘dark haired and stocky’ but surely if someone was asked to describe Terry you would point out that he has Downs Syndrome, it’s a big descriptive point of Terry surely and not as simple as it could be anyone else who is dark haired and stocky. Does that make sense? I just found it rather unbelievable
I noticed this too and found it very unlikely that, if they asked multiple neighbours as implied, nobody would have mentioned he had Downs Syndrome or at least alluded to it.
ChocBeforeCock · 25/03/2021 14:15

I wonder if Jo is bent but being blackmailed into pulling some dirty tricks. The locks suggest she doesn’t feel safe from someone.

It would explain why perhaps she was told/forced to pull over the team to stop at the armed robbery so Terry could be put in place, but was upset about the robbery suspect being shot.

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/03/2021 14:25

Beeeeeeeeeep!

This is along the lines of what I think. She's not the main bad guy, but isn't 100% clean either. So perhaps she was meant to delay the raid, but then the shooting delayed it even further.

But if it was to switch the 'real' Ross Turner over for Terry Boyle, then surely at that point they were still under surveillance?

I'm trying to remember every series but it was the case with both Tony Gates and Lyndsey Denton that they were bent but being blackmailed so not directly involved with OCG, Corbett was having his strings pulled my Gill Bigalow. It usually ends up that the one being investigated is bent but have 'reasons' to be. Trying to remember who was in the other two series being investigated

Poshjock · 25/03/2021 14:51

@storminabuttercup You have a point there. S3 was Danny Waldron who was manipulated into seeing his abuser from the past - knowing that with a gun in his hand he would likely see him off. S4 was Roz Huntley who was manipulated into fitting up Michael Farmer using her ambition against her. S5 was John Corbett, again manipulated into going rogue whilst undercover in an attempt to catch out "bent Hastings".

PursuingProxemicExactitude · 25/03/2021 15:14

I'm struggling to remember the link to the OCG with Roz Huntley apart from Hilton making her frame the wrong bloke? Was it that the murderer was part of the OCG ?

LaganinaBubble · 25/03/2021 15:47

I've forgotten so much of the past series it's great to read these threads and it sparks a memory.
Re the spoilers; can I assume that once it's been broadcast we're good to talk about it? And also it's OK to hypothesise based on past series? I've never joined a TV-as-its-happening thread before - don't want to break any rulesSmile

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 25/03/2021 16:27

@storminabuttercup

We’ve just rewatched it all but im also struggling to remember.

I think it was just that Roz was being pushed into convicting the wrong person by Hilton, just to get the case over with. So she wasn’t connected directly to the OCG but just another person affected by it.

UCOinaUCG · 25/03/2021 16:47

Just inveigling my way into the new thread undercover and all that...

YouKnobhead · 25/03/2021 16:47

I've forgotten so much that the only Ros which springs to my mind is Ros from Spooks 🤦‍♀️. And I only watched them all just before series five.

Sorry i'm late boss...

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/03/2021 17:48

@LaganinaBubble once shown on tv it’s fair game to talk about it :)

mizu · 25/03/2021 18:02

Marking place. As you were.

Poshjock · 25/03/2021 18:08

@storminabuttercup The OCG was trafficking women in the sex industry - this theme continued into S5 - Roz's team were investigating two murders of women and I guess the OCG needed this investigation to stop.

ChocOrange1 · 25/03/2021 18:18

I can't remember much from previous seasons, even though I watched them all last year or maybe the year before (watched series 5 only just after it was released).

Do we think Jo actually did see an armed robbery - it seems unlikely given the speed of the convoy and the angle. I was surprised there wasn't more made of the fact a kid was shot!

cathybates · 25/03/2021 18:35

Placemarking. LOD is the only reason anyone wishes for Sunday night to arrive!

SingToTheSky · 25/03/2021 18:40

@GillBungalow

I wonder if the floofy jumper was for continuity purposes (disguising the 'Covid Stone')
😂 that is an excellent point
