Well it's probably a coincidence but one of my friends thinks based on looks that Ryan Pilkington & Chris Lomax are related (see photos)
As I said earlier we don't know that much about DS Lomax.

I loved the way DCC Andrea Wise assertively shooed Ted out of her office whilst giving him a sort of "god not this bent coppers speech yet again, it's getting so bloody tiring" look.

New to the thread but delurking to say that I've just rewatched the end of S5. Carmichael dismisses Brandyce so there is a vacancy for a DI in AC3, and she looks impressed with Kate's work. Plus she seems to remain convinced that Hastings is a wrong 'un....

Aw, DCC Wise (probably the biggest baddy of all) but Shrine of Duty has just reminded me of ‘I’m veering towards muffins’.

I can't believe after Ryan's years with the ocg he still got in the police. Even without actual previous convictions you'd think he'd have had plenty of cautions for petty crime before he moved on to throat slitting.

That was my thought when he appeared at the end of the last series, he can't have got any decent references! Once Steve clocks him hi might be on his way out.

Unlikely if the grand masters of the OCG are behind all of this. Steve could be in for a rough time with no pals for support.

This could be something. I’ve been thinking it’s odd that Jo makes a point to name Chris every time she sees him - “Chris this” or “Do x, Chris”. She doesn’t do that for all characters. We’re clearly supposed to be getting to know him/his name even though he hasn’t done anything yet.

I've also noticed a lot of reference to Chris from Jo. And bloody hell, yes Chris and Ryan do look similar!

One thing that's still bugging me is when Jo was arrested at the end of her interview she decided to throw her colleagues under a bus. She pointed out who else within the team would have known the same information as she did, namely the CHIS handler, Farida, Lomax and Buckles and says their houses should be searched if hers was going to be.

So why didn't she include Kate in that list? Kate would have known.

Is the last person on the ‘list’ related to the woman Supt in this photo?

Buckells has a big picture of a golfer playing into the sunset on his office wall. Clue?

Kate wasn't there at the very beginning of E1. Farida took the first phone call. Chris has that info next and called Jo in "sorry to spoil your night boss" and Jo took it to Buckells for sign off which he didn't give, after a conflab with someone else.

When Kate first appeared, in the briefing, there was some banter about her not having been there the night before. It appears the first she knew was the same time as a lot of other officers in that briefing.

That seems like a good spot!

I think the theory that Kate is undercover for AC-3 makes a lot of sense - Kate’s behaviour is very much like when she has been undercover before, and makes sense of why she’s being off with Steve /thwarting AC-12s plans.

Though...what would be the bigger picture that AC-3 were onto (why would Kate not just fess up to Steve and get them to back of, rather than risk AC-12 scuppering AC-3’s work?)

I was wondering if Kate and Steve are working together , so when she said sorry to him she meant sorry but she needed to do it for their mission. It also looks like they are both targeting people for relationships- didn't Steve do this with Lindsey before ?

Ryan is terrifying ! I was also wondering if he was blackmailing Jo?

Kate being late could tie into her being undercover got AC-3. She could also be carrying favour with Jo to get to know her.

Only issue is that Hillside isn't covered by Ac-3 si it seems unlikely. Unless it's to do with mystery woman in Jo's photos.

What does ‘ED’ stand for in relation to Steve?

Maybe AC-3 are happy for AC-12 to get involved as it puts pressure on Jo and team, which could expose cracks.

Maybe the reason AC-3 are involved isn't directly due to the handling of the Gail Vella case... Or it is, but they hope Jo/ Buckles will slip up once they think the case is with AC-12.
