Yes I don't think the timings fit for Chloe to be Gates' daughter. It would also be implausible for her to have got embroiled with the OCG too really, in my opinion.

Also, surely Martin Compston auditioned for the part of Steve, who was written as being from SE/London, as he could do the accent. No need to re-write him as Scottish.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 29/03/2021 07:28

Also don’t think Chloe is anything to do with Gates.

ImAncient · 29/03/2021 07:29

@Piggywaspushed

I'll be amazed if Chloe is Tony's daughter. Surely they just went for a common name for a woman in her 20s?
I don’t think anything in LoD is a coincidence so could well be Gates’s dd but age wise not sure either.

@Tedisateddybear

I think Steve visited Steph because he saw she had visited Ted at work and they were having a hush-hush conversation. Steve doesn't know that Ted bunged her the £50k but I think his questioning of Steph about the TV and the sports package was more about him thinking that Steph has got a new bloke and he thinks it might be Ted.

I can't remember exactly, but didn't Steve say his painkillers were in the side pocket in his car, so why did Steph open the glove box? No doubt his addiction to painkillers is going to be used against him at some point. At the moment it seems that Steph and Steve have a good relationship in as much as she is grateful for what Steve did for Corbett at the time. I wonder if something will cause their relationship to sour and Steph will use this info against him.

Yes to all of this. My thinking exactly Grin

What is Buckles deal? He gets on my nerves . Is he being deliberately twattish? How has he moved up the ranks? Surely not without help

AliceBlueGown · 29/03/2021 07:44

Does Steph's big TV and sports channels conversation matter? - does she have someone living with her in the house that we need to know about? Otherwise why bring her back?

Violetroselily · 29/03/2021 07:50

Definitely was Jimmy Lakewell on the tape

Feels a bit obvious for Kate to be deep UC...I hope that isn't where its going. She or Steve will recognise Ryan soon I'm sure.

Northernexile · 29/03/2021 07:50

I assume Steve has general suspicions about her meeting Ted, and apparent sudden lack of money worries, and is trying to piece it together.

The thing I'm struggling with after last night is why they let Davidson go? I mean, Farida looks dodgy at the moment with all those phones, but it was Davidson who 'spotted' the set up robbery and got the convoy halted. Farida had nothing to do with that. Surely that shows Davidson is in it up to her eyeballs?!

JaneJeffer · 29/03/2021 07:58

Did Ted see Steve watching him when he met Steph? I thought he looked up. What's to stop Steph from telling Ted that Steve visited her?

CherryValanc · 29/03/2021 08:00

@TedisnotH

Chloe Bishop the bright PS who was in the interview with Ted and Steve
Ah, thanks. Definitely know the character evidently hadn't managed to listen to her name.

@Netaporter who's Nige?

With Ryan, either Steve or Kate have got to figure it out some. Steve needs to see him first though obviously. I am wondering the significance of Steph's looks regarding Steve taking drugs and his having a lot in his car. I was thinking someone OCG connected or a bent copper (Ryan) will use it against Steve - blackmail him into not revealing information.

I seem to be in the minority with thinking the acting is just fine. I do think everyone is off because the trust in AC-12 is gone. Ted's dodgy dealings really caused an issue; no one trusts anyone now. Which is Kate's and Steven's relationship down the swany. More so now that Kate revealed to Dicknson about the Ac12 investigation.

Also Buckles- fully incompetent at his role. Rather than (totally) bent. But why did he get to that level? What's the connection that allowed him there?

Might not be anything- where I work the Peter Principal is fully in action with no connections. (Though was Buckles ever any good?)

CherryValanc · 29/03/2021 08:04

^ I mean Davidson not Dickison don't I? Names are not my string suit!!

Davidson was let go because there's no hard evidence to hold her. With the hard evidence of the burners in Farida's house she, on paper, is the more likely suspect.

SophieB100 · 29/03/2021 08:05

For those who haven't watched all the series, this link gives lots of background and pics of Ryan - if you can't place him.

wildthingsinthenight · 29/03/2021 08:06

CherryValanc I said the same re Buckells. Sonething very odd there.

LOVE the theory Steve faked the pain so he could get Steph out of the house briefly.

I think (as PP said) that Steph will tell Ted about the pills and if Steve tries to discredit Ted later he will play that card.

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/03/2021 08:07

@Whatwouldscullydo

He was suffering from ED in the last series

What a random thing to remember 🤣

It was quite significant to the character and his state of mind, I thought.
wildthingsinthenight · 29/03/2021 08:08

Burner phones in a house where two people live (lived) and not sure who is guilty. Surely you would keep both in custody initially? Jo accusing Farida doesn't make it true

Whatwouldscullydo · 29/03/2021 08:09

Feels a bit obvious for Kate to be deep UC...I hope that isn't where its going. She or Steve will recognise Ryan soon I'm sure

I think kate already did. She "set up " the possibility of knowing. Made a show of asking if they had worked together etc .

BentBastard · 29/03/2021 08:12

Steve couldn't be Scottish because the plot line about him being fitted up as the Caddy wouldn't have worked as a key component was the Caddy accent being London or SE (assuming that storyline was already planned at casting stage)

Buggerthebotox · 29/03/2021 08:13

Who made the decision to release Jo? Was it Ted himself or someone else higher up?

Whatwouldscullydo · 29/03/2021 08:15

It was quite significant to the character and his state of mind, I thought

I dunno. It's been done alot in alot of shows and never really meant much. Usually just a a kind of predictable lame attempt to insinuate some kinda epiphany re sleeping around/behaviour.

The whole back scene made no sense I mean he was driving just moments before. I wasn't convinced it was genuine. I think he was trying to remove himself as a threat. No ones gonna he worried about a washed out cop hooked on pain killers who can't even sit down kinda thing...

Before he used sex now maybe he's using pain to his advantage...

SchadenfreudePersonified · 29/03/2021 08:16

@dancemom

To those commenting on Steve's waistcoats, I read in an interview with him that they feature heavily this series to cover up the lockdown weight he put on 😱
Does that work?
Piggywaspushed · 29/03/2021 08:16

But the Caddy wasn't from the SE??

NoWordForFluffy · 29/03/2021 08:18

Yeah, Kate knows she knows him, but whether she's actually placed him as to how / where, I'm not sure yet. It's one of those things that will come to her in the middle of the night!

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/03/2021 08:20

@minou123

As much as I want Steve and Kate to remember Ryan, thinking about it, it's quite plausible they won't.

As far as I remember, the last time they saw Ryan, he was 12/13 years old. It's been 10 years since they've seen him.
Would you really recognise an adult, when you saw them last as a child?

I used to teach Early Years and frequently get grown men come up to me while I'm out and say 'Do you remember me?' I hardly ever do. The drunken bearded man who came up to me in a pub and gave me a hug (not recently obviously) surprised everyone I was with, but when he told me his name I did remember him.
NoWordForFluffy · 29/03/2021 08:20

@Piggywaspushed

But the Caddy wasn't from the SE??
The whole 'Caddy is from the SE' was a created story to frame Steve.

Buggerthebotox · 29/03/2021 08:23

The real Caddy, Dot, put on an accent (for example when speaking to Baines on the burner phone).
