He'd gone rogue, hadn't he? So not considered to be in the line of duty.

I'll be disappointed if Jo is another "good cop doing bad things because they're being coerced"...

For Ryan to get in the police his background info must have been altered by the OCG's inside people as surely there would have been a record of him being questioned when he was 12/13?
Or do things like that get discounted?

It's filmed in Belfast but set in the Midlands. Steph lives in Liverpool.

I'm not sure what to make of that episode at all.
Far to many clues, possibly red herrings, links to old seasons for my brain.....

I think Hastings knows and is running her because he is protesting too much. All that 'she better watch out' was a bit overdone.

Does Jo's 'that's what happens to rats' imply both that she knows Ryan is OCG and that Farida was OCG but ratted. maybe some others in that unit are too. Maybe Buckles? He does seem very stupid but perhaps that's a cover.

The voice on the tape I thought might be Nige. He was known to talk to journalists for money.

I think Steve is still suspicious of Hastings being corrupt. That's why he feels uncomfortable working there now and that's why he followed up and went to see Steph. He can tell Hastings is keeping something from him (which actually is that he is running Kate).

I don't think Hastings actually is corrupt but I think Steve thinks he is.

The back pain story line is bloody ridiculous.

a) if you have back pain that bad after a serious injury, over the counter ibuprofen and codeine would be doing fuck all especially after a few years of taking it regularly. Might as well be eating smarties. And likely he’d still be on prescription opiates given that he does seem to still be in a lot of pain.

B) if he’s having terrible back spasms, he’d need to be on muscle relaxants, codeine wouldn’t do shit and he definitely wouldn’t be able to drive.

He’ll still be shagging her shortly... he can go on the bottom and do no work! 🤣🤣🤣

Also. I have a serious back injury, and am heavily medicated. I can (am medically safe to) drive on all but one of my medications.

Gates' daughter wasn't old, so 8 years on it would be a bit much for her to not only have been married, but also got divorced as well. While it's technically feasible, surely it's unlikely, and it's more likely she'd use her mum's maiden name? We need somebody to look her up so we see her NoK on the system.

Why would Jools Gates have changed her daughters’ names though? Tony died in the line of duty (to coin a phrase), not disgraced. If they’d been little then she might have changed them to match a stepfather’s surname, but I’d have thought they’d be a bit old for that.

I don't have a clue what is going on, but the actress who plays Steph cant do a Scouse accent and it's really distracting ...!

Well if Chloe mentions a sister called Nat &/or plays the piano then it could be Tony Gates daughter or just a big coincidence.
