I don't know why people are so annoyed about the Saville reference, he was mentioned in S3 as a Sandsview regular and in a photo with Fairbanks and Cyril Smith Dale Roach.

What I found breathtakingly daring, and relevant, was the reference to the murder of Daniel Morgan which is a real life case of a PI embroiled In paid exchanges of info with Police and Journalists. He was murderered in the 1980s and police corruption is the main reason it remains unsolved.

Frazzled2207 · 28/03/2021 22:22

@OnTheHillNotOverIt

I watched series 1-5 on iplayer during lockdown so this weekly episode thing is doing me in. Also we can’t pause the programme to try to work out who’s doing what and why Grin
I twice reached for the remote to rewind a bit to try and catch what they said arrrgh I think it’s much better to wait until all the episodes are there then binge/rewind at leisure. It’s what I did with ep 1-5
CovidCorvid · 28/03/2021 22:22

Maybe they want jo to think she’s in the clear.....see what she does next?

TheCuddy · 28/03/2021 22:22

Yay! Much better. 'That's what happens to a rat' I reckon she's undercover too.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 28/03/2021 22:23

You can watch live via IPlayer, which gives you pause/rewind capability.

Oh! I missed that!

@Ellmau

I liked the way Gail Vella had a different hairdo in each news clip.

I don't see how Kate can be undercover, unless it's for another branch of AC. Hastings is so cross with her.

Is there any chance Corbett is still alive? Just based on Steph's giant TV and sports package?

I'm not 100% sure whether the burner phones at Farida's house were Farida trying to frame Jo, or Jo trying to frame Farida. Although obviously she is involved somehow; but why did she cry at the end? Is she involved because she's being blackmailed?

is there any chance Corbett is still alive Not unless he has learned to live without blood!

Surely Steph would have got a death in service payment of several times his salary, plus his pension, plus life assurance and a widowed parent payment, all which would have paid for a lot of TVs.

I still have my doubts about the character called Chris, looks like caddy, sounds like caddy. Caddy clone/ brother/ cousin ?Quack,quack, quack.

ImAncient · 28/03/2021 22:24

I still think Kate is undercover AC12, but so deep that Steve doesn’t know,

Yes to this.

But so many locks on Davidson’s door & no one comments on it?

Pomegranatespompom · 28/03/2021 22:25

Steph seemed very on edge but of she had anything to hide she shouldn't have told Steve to call in again?? Could have new bf??

Ah good point will do that next week
OysterMonkey · 28/03/2021 22:26

To be honest I don’t think you need to be Scottish to know that Kelly McDonald is shit in this. Totally shit and spoiling it for me in every scene she’s in. She’s so stilted

But is that part of the character?
With this show you just don’t know!

Good episode that.
Though I was willing Steve to clock Ryan.

ImAncient · 28/03/2021 22:27

Is Steph going to dob Steve in about all the meds in his car I wonder? Otherwise why bother showing it?

Dailyhandtowelwash · 28/03/2021 22:27

From what she said to Steve his death was not considered to be ‘in the line of duty’ so assume no payout or pension. That’s why Tony Gates got them to twist the truth in series one, to make sure his family got all that, and why Hastings made sure the investigation into Maneet was shut down after her murder.

I think that because he wasn't deemed to have died in the line of duty, she wouldn't have got those. It's why Gates was so keen for Steve to tell the powers that be that he died in the line of duty, as if you are bent, you don't get it.

Didn't we see him get his throat slit? I don't think he would've survived that. Hastings gave her 50K last series which explains the TV
Dominicains · 28/03/2021 22:29

@Mollypolly2610

I’m Scottish and Jo sounds like Lorraine Kelly it makes me cringe I keep thinking she’s going to ask someone “so what’s it’s like to be a criminal”
This had me roaring!

I reckon Kate is working UC for Anna Maxwell Martin’s AC team and neither Ted nor Steve know. Is she investigating Jo?

VioletLemon · 28/03/2021 22:29

I'm wondering if Jo was assigned a new identity as a youngster after her mum being murdered by OCG, hope Kate is deep undercover, think Jo may be too.

Netaporter · 28/03/2021 22:29

Great episode.

Q’s from me:

  1. Who was the voice on Gail Bella’s audio clip? Nige?
  2. Will Jo get caught by still having Farida’s key?
Netaporter · 28/03/2021 22:30

*Vella

Ellmau · 28/03/2021 22:30

@CheekyWeeShite

Hastings gave her the missing £50k which is why she went from worrying about losing the house to having a big TV etc

I see that makes more sense from the money pov, it was just the sports package being more of a male thing (gross generalisation obv but she didn't claim to be a sports fan). And men liking big screens ;)

I admit, I don't think him being alive is at all likely, just trying to make sense of the clues.

putcarpetdown · 28/03/2021 22:31

The Vella stuff is a bit weak - both the report that didn’t go out ad the one before seemed to be defamatory, the second blatantly so I guess that’s why it was pulled. Also she was reporting stuff in the public domain and reported by others presumably so that can’t be the reason for her death - so the never recorded/broadcast podcast must hold the key (although libel rules still apply of course).

Dominicains · 28/03/2021 22:31

  • Sounded like ACC Hilton to me but didn’t rewind to listen again as I don’t think I even remembered to breathe for the hour.

    Yes, the voice! I thought it sounded a bit like Jimmy Lakewell. But that’s clearly the mystery to be solved.

    I was also annoyed by them still referring to the fourth potential bent copper as ‘H’. It’s like the programme doesn’t even understand its own tortured logic around Dot’s declaration! It’s either ‘H’ or four people - it can’t be both!

    GetOffYourHighHorse · 28/03/2021 22:32

    I can't believe after Ryan's years with the ocg he still got in the police. Even without actual previous convictions you'd think he'd have had plenty of cautions for petty crime before he moved on to throat slitting.

    Pomegranatespompom · 28/03/2021 22:32

    @Ellmau new man in OCG?
