Do we know beardy man who dropped the burner phone for Jo?

Loving Ryan's return - hope he calls Jo a bent bastard at some point. Grin

Dailyhandtowelwash · 28/03/2021 22:13

Excellent episode. Interviews, chippy Ted, twisty turny things, and we now have to wait to see how long till Steve clocks Ryan.

We know that Terry has been nobbled by Ryan and mates but he’s never had any police contact before so they have no idea.
I guess we don’t know what Terry thinks is going on either - how much does he know?

I would NOT have released Jo on the back of Farida’s arrest. Surely the fact that she entirely neglected to mention her relationship to them, and her residence at the address, raises HUGE GIANT RED
FLAGS?

The exchange between Jo and Ryan was clearly meant to imply that they each know each other is bent (‘rat’ was a term the OCG used a lot last series) but is that true? Feel a bit obvious for episode two. That would be more a penultimate episode reveal I think.

Bearded and chubby Steve keeps reminding me of an aggrieved guinea pig.

CovidCorvid · 28/03/2021 22:14

Why was Steve insinuating to Corbett’s widow about her being able to afford a nice tv and the sports package? Does he think she has more money than she should?

Frazzled2207 · 28/03/2021 22:14

I am totally not understanding why Steve and Hastings released Jo and put Farida behind bars

Haudyourwheesht · 28/03/2021 22:15

Is Steve maybe also keeping an eye on Ted's finances? Was he not doing petty financial stuff at the beginning of ep 1?

CheekyWeeShite · 28/03/2021 22:15

@CovidCorvid

Well Hastings gave her £50k so Steve has probably realised something is up after seeing them together at AC12
CovidCorvid · 28/03/2021 22:16

To be honest I don’t think you need to be Scottish to know that Kelly McDonald is shit in this. Totally shit and spoiling it for me in every scene she’s in. She’s so stilted.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 28/03/2021 22:16

He saw her and Hastings meeting at AC12 which is presumably why he popped up to visit. Did he hear the reference to HMRC? What are the acoustics like up on that balcony? I see they mixed it up a bit later in the episode by standing on the staircase, like the Von Trapp Children.
mrsmacmc · 28/03/2021 22:17

Booking my space - much better episode tonight long may it continue for remainder of the series 😆

CovidCorvid · 28/03/2021 22:17

@Frazzled2207

Because of the burner phones being in her flat.....they didn’t believe her when she said Jo would have planted them there.
Ellmau · 28/03/2021 22:17

I liked the way Gail Vella had a different hairdo in each news clip.

I don't see how Kate can be undercover, unless it's for another branch of AC. Hastings is so cross with her.

Is there any chance Corbett is still alive? Just based on Steph's giant TV and sports package?

I'm not 100% sure whether the burner phones at Farida's house were Farida trying to frame Jo, or Jo trying to frame Farida. Although obviously she is involved somehow; but why did she cry at the end? Is she involved because she's being blackmailed?

OhWhyNot · 28/03/2021 22:17

I think the believe Farida but the evidence points to her

Waiting for Jo to trip herself up

CheekyWeeShite · 28/03/2021 22:17

@Dailyhandtowelwash

For me the biggest mystery is how Buckells has maintained his top position for so long when he is clearly crap.

Sadly no mystery to me after my own career. Not police at all but plenty of mediocre tossers get to the top.

Buckells is dodgy AF. He’s been hiding in plain sight.
OnTheHillNotOverIt · 28/03/2021 22:17

I watched series 1-5 on iplayer during lockdown so this weekly episode thing is doing me in.
Also we can’t pause the programme to try to work out who’s doing what and why Grin

Ooo, that's a new one
"Bookmark that in the DIR"
I shall use this one on Teams calls this week

viques
But what does it mean? ( or are you so scarey at work no one will question you? )

I am super scarey at work Grin

Not really, but it'll be a good one to use if someone is annoying me.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/03/2021 22:17

Daily, I said to DH that 'rat' is OCG code as soon as she said it.

Steve doesn't know about the £50k, does he? Or 'life insurance' as she referred to it as. I'm wondering if Ted is still subbing her in some way? And I wonder what Steve did for Steph after John's death?

viques · 28/03/2021 22:18

@Shimmyshimmycocobop

I always find Kate a bit cringe when she's trying to ingratiate herself with her boss, she always seems like such a brown noser.
I still think Kate is undercover AC12, but so deep that Steve doesn’t know, I think Hastings does and authorised her shopping the Hill street team about the AC raid, though I haven’t the faintest idea why. It explains why she is getting over friendly with Jo too. Though again I don’t know why this is necessary.

It’s all instinct, no evidence at all, I would be a useless copper.

Templetrees · 28/03/2021 22:18

@Graffittiunderpass

I think Jo's mother is the reason she's embroiled in the OCG. I just can't figure out why.
Yep I agree Shes being kept in line by threats to her mother. I cant make up my mind about Farida -her crying is just overegging it .
Dailyhandtowelwash · 28/03/2021 22:18

And yet they already suspect Jo and her failure to mention her relationship with Farida and therefore her access to the house is massively suspicious. Arrest Farida, sure, but don’t release Jo!

Benjispruce2 · 28/03/2021 22:18

Ted quote of the day.

CheekyWeeShite · 28/03/2021 22:18

Is there any chance Corbett is still alive? Just based on Steph's giant TV and sports package?

Hastings gave her the missing £50k which is why she went from worrying about losing the house to having a big TV etc

GetOffYourHighHorse · 28/03/2021 22:19

'To be honest I don’t think you need to be Scottish to know that Kelly McDonald is shit in this. Totally shit and spoiling it for me in every scene she’s in. She’s so stilted.'

Yes she's no Lindsay Denton or Roz Huntley sadly.

'I see they mixed it up a bit later in the episode by standing on the staircase, like the Von Trapp Children'

Grin
Pomegranatespompom · 28/03/2021 22:20

@SophieB100 It was very amusing.

Kate really can't act. Kate undercover or the actress.

unique1986 · 28/03/2021 22:21

I prefer Kate to Steve. His accent annoys me and is the weaker actor.

Mollypolly2610 · 28/03/2021 22:21

I’m Scottish and Jo sounds like Lorraine Kelly it makes me cringe I keep thinking she’s going to ask someone “so what’s it’s like to be a criminal”
