I saw a trailer for this the other evening but DC were running around and being loud so I missed most of it. Does anyone know when it’s starting please? I don’t want to miss it as it’s brilliant!

I liked the slow burn up to that point. Looking forward to seeing how it all unravels over the next few weeks.

lazymum99 · 01/03/2021 22:02

I didn’t understand the witness thing. Who was running after who and where?

BentBastard · 01/03/2021 22:05

The Asian DCI with the sexual harassment claim against him was chasing the murder victim.

lazymum99 · 01/03/2021 22:07

Thanks. He is not a very likeable character by any means!

BentBastard · 01/03/2021 22:12

Do we think fogherty kept the body for blackmail purposes?

CherryValanc · 01/03/2021 22:15

Going to come back in a bit as I'm only just watching but remind me (cause it's bugging me) where is Dodgy Business (Dean) man living?

BentBastard · 01/03/2021 22:16

Somewhere in Kent wasn't it?

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/03/2021 22:19

recap e2

This about sums tonight’s up

bendmeoverbackwards · 01/03/2021 22:26

Really enjoying this!

Who’s this Lucy?

BentBastard · 01/03/2021 22:29

I believe Lucy is the woman making the sexual harassment claim against the Asian DCI

BentBastard · 01/03/2021 22:30

@BentBastard

T Ooh, Rochester I think!
Strikemepink · 01/03/2021 22:46

I’m enjoying it, not sure what to make of the suspects yet! The itv hub app kept giving me grief though with the sound dropping out.

CherryValanc · 01/03/2021 22:53

Rocester, thanks!!! One of those insignificant things that was bugging me.

Really enjoyed that episode. So two are still in the police. Interesting that DCI Sidhu's brother said something along the lines of 'this time' in regards to the woman making a complaint about him.

Also why is Susan Lynch's mum so horrible!! (Will need to recall character's actual name- Liz isnt it - as I'm.sureSusan Lynch's actual mum is lovely)

Woodlandbelle · 01/03/2021 23:14

Liz's mother is horrid. But it's excellent. I was so sad for Cass and her father. Their relationship used to be lovely.

AndwhenyougetthereFoffsomemore · 01/03/2021 23:18

Just logging in having caught up on ep 2: coming together nicely. I'm really hoping lesbian police woman (Liz?) isn't too much of a baddie: Sheila Hancock is playing a blinder as her mum, utterly poisonous! Agree that the focus on parents and adult children's relationships and expectations of their parents seems to be key this time. Poor Cassie and her dad :-(

CattyCactus · 01/03/2021 23:24

Yes, it’s setting it up nicely for it all to fall into place. Though I have absolutely no idea how or who!
(I would quite like to binge the entire series now, having binged series 1-3 in a week) but hey ho, I’ll have to learn patience.....!

bendmeoverbackwards · 02/03/2021 09:26

Found it jarring when Liz said in her job interview that she had a Classics degree from Ballliol - my dd was rejected a few weeks ago, same college, very similar course!

viques · 02/03/2021 09:28

The Asian DCI with the sexual harassment claim against him was chasing the murder victim.
But he is being set up as a baddy so by all the known unspoken laws of TV drama he will turn out to be a goody in the end. Or will die a noble death thus redeeming his badness.

Sighs. When is Line of Duty back, it has ruined me for all other cop dramas.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 02/03/2021 09:53

Perhaps Liz's mum is horrid because of Liz's previous behaviour (hinted at with the exchange with the carer over the 'garage bought' flowers?).

LOD back on 21 or 22 March. So a few weeks to wait.

Mind you wasn't Finch set up as the baddy in the least season and he most definitely was one!

We have all become so used to 'box set' immediate availability that it's trying patience to have to watch one episode per week!

Love Sheila Hancock. Recently watched a very poignant British film with her in it called 'Edie'. Well worth a watch if you have a spare couple of hours. It's on IPlayer.

I agree, I was just answering the PPs question about the witness statement.

Only three more weeks until Lionel Duty Smile!

SingToTheSky · 04/03/2021 09:55

I was wondering if none of them actually did it and were covering for someone else. Liz’s mum, obv :o

I’m excited for LoD but I really didn’t enjoy the last series so much. I watched them in a funny order but I think 2/3 were my favourites

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 04/03/2021 14:14

@SingToTheSky well that would be a different take on the usual police procedural trajectory. The drama seems to send viewers a 'curve ball' regarding the plot arc and 'perps' so you could be right.

Or the one in the Peak District's father. He died the year after the accident.

Liz's mum would want to be nicer to the person covering up fid her!!

I think it might be something about racis, possibly in football.

Optimist1 · 04/03/2021 19:23

The parent + adult child relationship seems to feature in most characters' stories, as far as we've seen. I wonder if that's relevant?

CherryValanc · 04/03/2021 22:50

Yes it does

DCI Sexual Harassment = mother adores him, his dad not so much. Possibly disinterested in own children.

Ma'm Susan Lynch = horrible mother

Dodgy Business man = secret mother Mary Quinn seemingly decent relationship with his own sons

Peak District woman - parents dead and I'm pretty sure she said to husband she had a poor relationship but was tending the grave. Seems ok with her step children
