I saw a trailer for this the other evening but DC were running around and being loud so I missed most of it. Does anyone know when it’s starting please? I don’t want to miss it as it’s brilliant!

Dean suggested Ram had done him some sort of favour. Wasn't that in relation to the recent trip to France that Dean undertook?

JemimaTab · 21/03/2021 11:40

I thought he had also alluded to something earlier.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 21/03/2021 11:41

It was about getting some information from police records I think so maybe Ram just did him little favours over the years like that? Although why?

PursuingProxemicExactitude · 21/03/2021 11:47

Ram paid off the customs (?) man on the English side of the trip. We saw Dean give the man a 'special nod'. (Presumably, though it saddens me to think this, Ram, as policeman, could call in favours or overlook wrongdoing by customs staff in exchange for offering this type of help way back when Sean was a bad'un.)

At least, this is what I'm guessing.

This thread is so much fun because we all have to wait between episodes. Loads of time to speculate instead of binge watch and avoid spoilers. I want to rewatch it as I've missed so many things people are mentioning that might be relevant. It is a very clever series.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 21/03/2021 12:34

@Cowbells I'm the same. DP talked through about 15 minutes of the last episode much to my annoyance. And I know I wasn't entirely paying attention during the first two episodes either.

Didn't their training course leader imply that they were thick as thieves but an unlikely fivesome? If so, I wonder what initially bonded/bound (?) them together?

PursuingProxemicExactitude · 21/03/2021 12:45

Not 'Sean' (stupid phone) - Dean.

jay55 · 21/03/2021 13:20

I wonder if Liz's mother came to pick them up. Or picked Liz up somewhere. As 'the truth' is Liz driving the car back and dropping them off and walking home.

footballfan1963 · 21/03/2021 14:10

Some great theories on here, you lot are really clever!

I also think Liz's mum is involved. Really looking forward to tomorrow night.

Yes although I want to binge I’m enjoying the having to wait.

Liz’s mum being a witness 👏👏👏

And yes to Liz being a wrong ‘un. And clearly Ram.

PursuingProxemicExactitude · 21/03/2021 15:22

Thinking again, and pondering again - is there any DNA, or other incontrovertible evidence linking the four with the body (ie after MW was dead)? Because if we only have one person's word for the piece of evidence Liz's mother gave ... Maybe she made it up in a misguided effort to help her daughter?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 21/03/2021 16:09

Liz'm horrible mother being the witness could also explain why the carer knows enough to blackmail Liz into a living wage.

Maybe Horrible Mum told Carer what had happened . . . Carer thinks "Doolally. Ignore" (I mean think of it - "My DD had a corpse in the freezer for umpteen years." - who would believe that?)

Then she overhears the fatal conversation and it all clicks into place!

SophieB100 · 21/03/2021 17:43

Didn't Liz's mum say something to the carer (in episode 1 I think) like "I could tell you things about Elizabeth that would make your hair curl" - or something similar? Yes, she definitely the key to this (nods wisely to herself and scowls, narrowing eyes in best Nicola W manner).

Standrewsschool · 21/03/2021 18:23

@SophieB100
yes, she did say something along those lines. Well remembered.

luckylavender · 21/03/2021 18:38

@Blondeshavemorefun - she's not a live in carer. She has a place of her own.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/03/2021 20:48
@Blondeshavemorefun - she's not a live in carer. She has a place of her own.
True. She can’t pay the bills on £9ph

Wonder why she stays there

She could earn a lot more as a carer elsewhere

PursuingProxemicExactitude · 21/03/2021 21:16

£9 per hour is what she was asking for, wasn't it? Not what she's currently being paid. And she wanted her £287 (approx) gas bill paid as well.

(IIRC the Guardian reviewer called £9 'extortionate' - but I'm hoping that was sarcasm.)

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/03/2021 21:20

Yes so on nmw

Hopefully not less

But why stay there

BentBastard · 21/03/2021 22:39

Yes this. £9 an hour was what she was asking for.

Thank goodness its Monday.

After understanding 10%of the jargon in last night's Line of Duty, it will be a relief to have people talking using words rather than acronyms!

LOL - same here. I was stopping every few seconds to work out what something might mean.
PursuingProxemicExactitude · 22/03/2021 07:46

Oh, no ...

People are going to be talking about LoD here too aren't they? And I'm likely to be a few days behind with it each week ... This is not good news.

fizbosshoes · 22/03/2021 08:32

I knew I wasnt alert enough to watch L o D yesterday!

footballfan1963 · 22/03/2021 10:12

We’ve only recently discovered LoD, have just finished season 1. It’s very hard to follow and not keen on the violence. Much prefer Unforgotten.

PursuingProxemicExactitude · 22/03/2021 11:01

Fortunately (though not really) Unforgotten will be over soon, so I won't be tripping over LoD spoilers here - though they'll be everywhere else.

I'm out of new speculation now - though Cassie and Sunny and the fantastic four are on my mind most of the time. But here's a photo of Eileen to keep us going til tonight.
