I saw a trailer for this the other evening but DC were running around and being loud so I missed most of it. Does anyone know when it’s starting please? I don’t want to miss it as it’s brilliant!

@Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername

I think I must be overtired, as I didn't understand any of what I've just watched Grin
There’s always a goos episode recap in the .Guardian online, including analysis of the infuriatingly fast flashbacks. I have to read it every week.
NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 16/03/2021 07:18

For some reason I've woken up with the notion that Liz murdered her father (don't know where that's come from).

Liz is the calculating one, I would say. You may find she was behind the murder but had nothing physically to do with it?

The Guardian recap - www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2021/mar/15/unforgotten-series-four-episode-four-recap-is-rams-luck-running-out

Playback wigged out on me (again)) and I missed the flashback bit.

I thought Fiona's proud dad was ill when she was at Hendon (he died not long after so she could give up her job)? I did wonder why he wasn't there.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/03/2021 08:44

Is weird none had anyone there to watch them

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 16/03/2021 09:35

Thanks @viques...if that was the one @CherryValanc just linked, I'm fully up to date !

I'm sure she said something about not having a grwat relationship with her parents (episode 1 - conversation in car with partner - continuing topic of mother's day cards.) Which is why I found it odd she went to the grave. She could have been lying to her partner. She is emerging as having a loose grasp on the truth and agreements.

It is. Other than Dean, and maybe Liz.

Dean - still has no relationship with family. Wife though his mother (presumed Mary Quinn*) was dead till just recently.

*if I've recalled the name correctly.

Liz - bad relationship with mother and father is dead. However we don't know why her relationship with her mother is bad - if it's down to covering up her girlfriend being drunk and killing a toddler that occurred afterwards so wouldn't be why she was absent. So is "what she did" that Eugenia knows about includes something else? Also do we know when her father died?

Fiona - claims was in police to make her father proud which doesn't tie in with no-show parents. No explanation from her why parents weren't there. Is he drinking connected?

Ram - appears to be on very good terms with his mother. His father not so much. He claims non-show due to not being a doctor. I slightly interested in the religion side of Rams story. His father and brother are Sikh and wear turbans. Ram has short hair too (which could be reason for no turban). But I wonder if his dad's annoyance is due to this, rather than Ram not being a doctor. May have no significance of course. Is his brother older?

Thank you for linking to this. It's such a good read!
Cowbells · 16/03/2021 10:17

My money is on Dean as the baddie because he's being written as so sweet. We're supposed to think it's Liz right now, which must mean it won't be.

BentBastard · 16/03/2021 10:19

Yeah I've fallen I to the trap of thinking it's Liz. My son is adamant it's Dean. Will really irritate me if he's right as he always calls it right and I'm always bloody wrong Angry

PolloDePrimavera · 16/03/2021 11:44

I'm going with Dean too. Random and slightly obscure side note, does he remind anyone of Garth Marenghi?! www.channel4.com/programmes/garth-marenghis-darkplace/on-demand/36434-005

CherryValanc · 16/03/2021 13:20

I think it might be a few of them rather than one. Possibly the three men - the women's crime is "losing" Fiona's blood and other things separately before.

Though in all honesty. I don't know.

Is it Monday yet...

EeeByeGummieBear · 16/03/2021 13:31

I was wondering if the death was an accident. However Cassie is so cross with life at the moment, especially the police for not letting her retire early, it may lead her to making mistakes. The suspects are obviously all guilty of other crimes, which will be uncovered and their lives destroyed. However, none of this explains why the body was kept in two different freezes Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/03/2021 13:50

An accident maybe

But not an accident to store the body and chop hands head off and freeze for 30yrs

BruceAndNosh · 16/03/2021 14:24

Sanjeev Bhaskar is so quietly good in this.
His discomfort during the questioning of Ram was perfectly portrayed. He is a master of the subtle expression

He's brilliant isn't he? So naturalistic.
Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 16/03/2021 14:51

He's brilliant. I'm also loving the guy that plays Ram. I'm very much going off Cassie though....her miserable face is driving me nuts

SingToTheSky · 16/03/2021 14:59

Sanjeev really is brilliant

I am wondering what they meant about just sticking to the truth - was that the two men saying that when they met in the woods? Sticking to the truth would mean it was the women who actually did wrong 🤔

PursuingProxemicExactitude · 16/03/2021 15:15

Yes, both Sunny and Ram are beyond excellent (the actors I mean). And it was a very satisfying episode all round. (Apart from the mummification, which I can't quite fathom yet.)

But this week I was too distracted by the sheer bloody horror of DC Fran Lingley's clothes ...

PursuingProxemicExactitude · 16/03/2021 15:29

Another thing ...

Matthew Walsh's brother Clive. Has there been DNA or other evidence linking the unfortunate five to the body? Is it impossible that they did indeed chase him into an allotment and see him fall - and then Clive Walsh came and finished him off? Because we have no independent evidence of what he was doing. At all.

BruceAndNosh · 16/03/2021 15:46

Yes ! what was going on with those trousers? Were they at half mast out of respect for the victim?

I also think that Cassie maybe needs to wear something to work that doesn't make her look like she's popped into the office in the middle of digging manure into her garden

I was too distracted by the perfect cupid's bow mouth of Ram

macaronirabbit · 16/03/2021 16:02

We (me and DD) thought that "the truth" was the story that they would have all put together at the time of the crime in readiness if they were ever questioned about it. (their stories matched when interviewed)

Also I was fixated on Marnies voice because I recognised it as someone from Eastenders but I couldnt think who, and didnt recognise her!

SingToTheSky · 16/03/2021 16:08

Yes that makes sense re the “truth”.

ImAncient · 16/03/2021 16:17

@margoyuwer

I thought it was going to be one of the pens in the head!
Yes I thought so too. They’ve concentrated on the pens throughout so possible Murder weapon.

So many ideas whirling around in my head.

Dean & Ram - dodgy runs
Liz - gets rid of blood sample
Fiona - dangerous driving & should be in prison

No hints of remorse that I can see being shown.

I felt so sorry for the younger son - his life has been taken over by his elder brothers needs.
