Anyone watch this tonight?

Just catching up now, it's the same show as "Your Home Made Perfect" but you guessed it.. a garden makeover this time!

It will be on iplayer to catch up on!

Blimey @TitusPullo How have you turned this into a class war?!

The point of the show can be to see what else is possible (for your tv licence fee ) but hardly anyone here likes Tom Massey designs or anything non vanilla. If you do then you can adjust it to fit budget and those very helpful online plant stores.

TitusPullo · 06/03/2021 12:37

@Quarks69 - me making it a class war Grin you came on to tell us all we were grumpy and implied we couldn’t recognise good design with our inferior garden centre plants. The thread is actually quite balanced with people talking about what they liked and didn’t like. Me included. No I don’t have £60k to spend on a garden, but I can spot a crazy golf course when I see one.

icelollycraving · 06/03/2021 13:39

As I say, the young couple seemed happy with it.
Most people would surely get plants from a garden centre 🤔
I’m not a gardener so watch for inspiration. I do probably like something vanilla, who knows?
It’s a bit like the interior design show, we all have different opinions and like different designs.

Thewinterofdiscontent · 06/03/2021 18:38

I think the grumpiness on the thread is about disbelief in price more than not liking Tom Massey’s ideas. The £66k garden didn’t really look like the design Tom showed them. The gorilla pit had some “ tweaks” for the worse at the end ( not Tom’s doing).

It’s all very well having fashions in gardening but it’s very different to your house. Unlike your kitchen units or paint, plants grow and change shape. Seasons affect everything. Use of the garden changes dramatically throughout the year. Just because wild gardening is on trend doesn’t mean it will look nice or be easy to maintain or even work (did I mention cats already?) in the average estate garden.

GuyFawkesDay · 07/03/2021 12:43

Regular people order plants online. I managed to find everything I wanted at Sarah Raven and other online suppliers.

Ordered them last January and they were delivered when ready, and I planted up on lockdown.

TitusPullo · 07/03/2021 18:18

I’ve found online very hit and miss including Sarah Raven, so I just slum it at the garden centre/plant nursery Grin

Flaunch · 07/03/2021 18:31

You can’t beat a good mooch around a garden centre or plant nursery. Plant shopping online is something that I only do out of necessity.

I have a little rotary mower for my 3m x 2m patch.

I get home from work dump my bag on the garden bench and pull it out the shed. 5 mins later it’s back in the shed and I go into the house for a coffee ( and often back into the garden that shells of cut grass.Much better than having to get the vacuum out for the cupboard for a patch of astro

Hadn't seen this thread so just quickly read through it trying to fit your comments to my (faulty!) memories of what I've seen. Much prefer the ideas on Garden Rescue to be honest! However, I'm enjoying being scandalised at the costs involved, and getting ideas for investing my redundancy money...

TheSpottedZebra · 11/03/2021 20:06

I like their garden now!

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 11/03/2021 20:07

Me too SpottedZebra!

Flaunch · 11/03/2021 20:07

There garden now is completely lovely.

SwedishEdith · 11/03/2021 20:09

I can't see how or why you'd need to spend £20k.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 11/03/2021 20:11

It looks like they have lots of lovely planting already - I hope it doesn't get ripped up and binned 😬

Surely a clever pergola and judicious use of trellis/screening would solve the privacy issue. I sympathise as I have trouble visualising designs. I'm really looking forward to the options they're presented with!

SwedishEdith · 11/03/2021 20:13

She said 'puh go la' as well. What is it??

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 11/03/2021 20:15

I can see that all the interest being around the edge is a problem. Presumably they'll do away with a lot of the lawn and create a patio in a different area.
I'm curious how far £20K will go compared to the other weeks.

TheSpottedZebra · 11/03/2021 20:18

I bet that Garden Designer (brunette) loved having to listen to Angela ang-splain garden design to her there.
Geometry!

TheSpottedZebra · 11/03/2021 20:19

Plant tall stuff!
Science!

Maireas · 11/03/2021 20:19

Two seating areas? Is that one in the light and one in shade? Looks like a pub garden.

SwedishEdith · 11/03/2021 20:21

Just dig out a patio at the end. How do you get into that hammock?

bridgetjones1 · 11/03/2021 20:21

I love the first garden

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 11/03/2021 20:23

Ha!

The patios look a bit cramped with furniture. I like the concept but I think I'd prefer one joined up curvy patio to accommodate both sets of furniture.

They seem to have a bit of an obsession with firepits on this programme - perhaps it's what people ask for.

I have a mini woodland in my small-medium garden Grin
Hostas wouldn't last 5 minutes, mind.

0blio · 11/03/2021 20:26

@SwedishEdith

She said 'puh go la' as well. What is it??
I thought it was PER go la with the emphasis on the first syllable.

I love their garden as it is, wish mine was as pretty as that. Never mind, they'll ruin it and spend at least 20k in the process!

TheSpottedZebra · 11/03/2021 20:27

I like that honeysuckle rope screen
