It’s back!!! Now with extra added Alan Carr!!!

Starts tonight. I didn’t find the first series until well after it finished and binge watched it, enjoyed following the thread on here as I did so but I was way behind the time to contribute anything.

Looking forward to enjoying this series hopefully with some viper chatter as we go along. Come on in, all opinions welcome!

We watched thinking Charlotte was being a bit of a dick and that Barbara was handling it all very well. But right at the end it seemed more like intentional editing and that she’d been cast as the bitch by the shows directors.

We’ll see!

Anyway, I’m off to staple beading to the wall.

MyHouse2011 · 02/02/2021 23:45

That’s interesting @covetingthepreciousthings I’ll look out for current contestants blogs.

HaveringWavering · 03/02/2021 01:00

I LOVE Michelle, she is like Supernanny
“You were lazy Charlotte and and that is not acceptable” ha ha ha.

I was really hoping they would ask Mona if she had no blinds or curtains on her own bedroom windows at home. She sealed her fate when her only explanation for not having curtains was “I went with my gut”. WTF??

PuppyMonkey · 03/02/2021 10:44

Love this show and how Charlotte I’d already being cast as The Villain. Imagine having a judge call you a bit lazy on TV - mortifying.Shock

Remember the one who won it last time, she was useless imho but somehow she WON! I recall the outrage on here. She did a weird Victoriana curtain themed thing that was just terrible. Have I dreamed this?

the80sweregreat · 03/02/2021 11:50

Lawrence once designed a sitting room on a programme for a lady who was very petite and he made the furniture huge! The sofa was enormous. She hated it all! Can't rem which programme it was ( not changing rooms) but her face was a picture. These judges don't always get it right either! Lol

Cocolapew · 03/02/2021 12:00

Charlotte might be being edited as the villan but there's no denying the faces she was pulling, she was doing from the beginning when her partner was talking to her.
I liked Michelle's trousers.

covetingthepreciousthings · 03/02/2021 12:10

I thought the carpenter DIY man seemed a bit awkward with her too, surely she could have done some of the jobs she wanted him to do herself, like pulling the plastic off the bed? And was it cutting some wood in half?
She didn't seem to get stuck into as much as some of the other contestants.

Cocolapew · 03/02/2021 12:15

She shouted up the stairs to her partner to ask him to come and do the bed when he was in the same room as her, why not just shout up at him?

LemonViolet · 03/02/2021 14:14

Treating him as staff, I guess, it wasn’t up to him what he did, it was up to the pair of designers to agree and direct him together.

showmethegin · 03/02/2021 14:35

@PuppyMonkey Yes! I hated absolutely everything she did on that programme and it was her that did a lace themed room in the chocolate hotel. It looked like old scruffy bits of rag. And how would you wash it? Especially in a hotel.

I'm still outraged she won!

showmethegin · 03/02/2021 14:37

Found it! 🤮

Ooh that’s even worse than I remember.

PuppyMonkey · 03/02/2021 14:59

God @showmethegin that is indeed as bad as I remember.

longtompot · 03/02/2021 15:42

Loved some of the rooms, didn't like Charlotte at all. The handyman didn't seem impressed by her either. The final nail for me was her barking about him removing the plastic from her bed or the carpet, can't remember which. I watched most of the others managing that by themselves. She's bound to be in it for several weeks now :(

Halsall · 03/02/2021 15:44

Dear Lord yes, that lace dust-trap room! Shocking.

TheSpottedZebra · 03/02/2021 15:49

@LemonViolet

Ooh that’s even worse than I remember.
It really is Shock
SparkysMagicPiano · 03/02/2021 15:58

Charlotte was bloody hilarious - all that eye-rolling and scowling.
Did she forget that she was actually being filmed?

WingingItSince1973 · 03/02/2021 20:30

I don't understand Charlottes room. When Michelle walked in to judge the first shot was the window and the curtains were all uneven (a bugbear in my house 🤣) I would have thought with this sort of competition she would have made sure they draped properly. Though in the next shot seconds later they had been pulled evenly. Plus the chest of drawers just plonked there with no though to how it looked on entering the room. Maybe a tall plant next to it to 'hide' it and some artwork on that wall opposite the bed to draw it all together. I'm no professional at all but I do dabble myself and read alot so was surprised that the room ended up looking like not much thought had gone onto it xxx

LemonViolet · 03/02/2021 20:37

Did seem a bit schoolgirl error, but a few of them made booboos the other way around by placing furniture where it looked nice but wasn’t much practical use.

I've just been reading their Instagram accounts and take back what I said. You hardly see the hard work they put into each room. We only get a snap shot of what they created. Charlotte's room had much more to it than we saw. The budget was low. Saying that, they all seem to run successful design businesses one way or another. Xx

covetingthepreciousthings · 03/02/2021 21:28

Just checked out Charlottes Instagram, I'm glad she's doing a blog about the process.

I feel a bit bad for her actually, as she seems to say herself she thought the edit was awful towards her.

LemonViolet · 03/02/2021 21:55

Do you have a link to any instagrams or blogs?
