It’s back!!! Now with extra added Alan Carr!!!

Starts tonight. I didn’t find the first series until well after it finished and binge watched it, enjoyed following the thread on here as I did so but I was way behind the time to contribute anything.

Looking forward to enjoying this series hopefully with some viper chatter as we go along. Come on in, all opinions welcome!

Monstrous - 😂😂
Sums it up though.
I think they just had their eyes on the final. And forgot they had to get through the semi-final first. Doh!

ppeatfruit · 18/03/2021 10:26

IMO Alan was the best ! (if we're on competing TV personalities ) ! I loved his comment about Siabhon's wigs, she laughed though, she's a good sport!

Quiff boy is terribly sensitive, I did prefer Michaela's design to his, there definitely could 've been sparks between them, I wonder if they edited them out or not!

I've concluded that they all seem to be be influenced by 'maximalism' which can be done well or NOT Grin

Annasgirl · 18/03/2021 10:50

Well the final should be good. That was a good episode although we didn't need the family element - I want to see design, I don't care who they are. I though Michelle didn't give enough advice to the two leaving - follow your dream, you have great potential - maybe study practical interior design and learn how to measure a room - that would be useful.

Like someone said upthread, perhaps they all just want to be influencers - is there that much scope in the "Influencer" business - I mean, how many people can be Interior Design influencers and make money from it ? That's a serious question - I have no clue how people make money from Instagram.

JaninaDuszejko · 18/03/2021 10:58

I live in a white house that aspires to minimalism and even I can concede that if we had 10 contestants painting everything white for 8 weeks it would be a bit boring.

Cocolapew · 18/03/2021 12:56

Does the winner get paid to redesign the hotel? Bit of a crap prize if you have to work for free.

NutellaEllaElla · 18/03/2021 12:59

That's a point, what is the prize? I only remember it being the amazing 'opportunity' to design the hotel. Didn't mention being paid for it!

jay55 · 18/03/2021 13:19

Annasgirl I imagine they could get paid to post by anyone who makes/supplies paint, wallpaper, furnishings etc. Not sure many of them will get a big enough following from this, to get that sort of attention though.

Cocolapew · 18/03/2021 14:31

Siobhan is doing an ad post for Karen Millen on her Instagram feed today.

dillite · 18/03/2021 20:30

I just looked at Siobhan's insta (and followed her!) and I am in awe of her confidence. I am also unbelievably jealous of her spectacular house! All those gorgeous murals! Her gorgeous cat! I want to move in now.

LemonViolet · 19/03/2021 07:53

It is very well done her place, but not cheap! I clicked a few of her tagged items on insta and found things like £250 lampshades, £110 cushions, £600 wallpaper murals etc....not completely inaccessible but definitely can’t just do my whole house like that in one go!!!

Janina I liked Michelle's description of maximalism. I can't remember it exactly but it wasn't the opposite of ALL WHITE!

Though I like neutral backgrounds because, I can add lots of colour and interest with the curtains, cushions rugs, paintings etc. all much easier to ring the changes with too. If there's too much going on on the walls, it gets boring. Paul's wallpaper was toooo much even for a restaurant.

Bee0808 · 19/03/2021 08:54

I really disliked both Paul and Charlotte.
I don't usually have such visceral reactions so to people but I thought Paul was - far from what he was trying to portray - VERY confident he'd get to the final.
And Charlotte - whingey and lazy. And just not talented like the others. Amazed she lasted as long.
I was quite cross with the guy who did the migraine inducing Hotel bridal suite...he had some great design ideas but just seemed to go insane...awful.
Micheala also not sure why she lasted as long as she did.
Felt for Barbara. She just didn't have the artistic vision.
Am looking forward to next week...
I think siobahn knows that people want aspirational design that works.
Hope she wins.

ppeatfruit · 19/03/2021 09:08

I liked Michaela, she seemed a nice personality, her designs were people friendly and comfortable, (I got the feeling that she would listen to her clients and not go into everything like a bull in a china shop).

Paul was the opposite, yes, Bee There was something very 'entitled' about him.

Bee0808 · 19/03/2021 09:18

She seems a lovely girl but her designs left me a bit meh
I can't put my finger on it with Paul...I think the way he kept doing pieces to camera about "not believing in himself" and "I need to believe I can do this" then the dramatic look to the side and wave of hand and choked sob...
I thought "yeah, you think you've got this in the bag!"
And "wallpaper king"???
Some of his choices were hideous!
The cafe wallpaper took me back to 70s/80s cafes in seaside towns...just ugh.
And Micheala!? What was she thinking! Pp have it spot on...1980s bedroom! I would have loved that circa 1987 :)
They just couldn't/wouldn't work together and thats what cost them a place in the final.
Also...anyone else REALLY not like Paul and Lindseys hair salon?
If I had to spend 2 hours in there I'd have some sort of episode 😬

LadyEloise · 19/03/2021 14:07

I think Lynsey just gets on with it.
I like that.
No drama, no "look at me" like Siobhán and Paul.
It's about the work.
LLB has cornered the "flamboyant interior designer character" market.

Cocolapew · 19/03/2021 17:14

I'd hate to have to dust Siobhan's house, that's a lot of stuff Shock

Paquerette · 19/03/2021 17:47

I hope that Lynsey wins next week. I really didn't like the fabric she used for the banquette seating, but when the whole upstairs area was finished it all looked really amazing.

Paul and Michaela both did a really awful job. The worst part was that they both made it obvious they hated the owner's signature blue colour so tried to minimise it as much as possible. Painting the shop front green with the blue awning there was horrible.

I wonder if the show have to redecorate the spaces used if they're completely messed up by the contestants?

JamMakingWannaBe · 20/03/2021 05:20

I really wanted to see the owner's reactions this week. We got it with the hair salons so why not this week?

Agree about Paul's tiled wallpaper - awful and I was quite shocked at mild mannered Michaela's suggestion the owner ought to rebrand away from the duck egg blue.

Squiz81 · 20/03/2021 09:52

@covetingthepreciousthings

I'm surprised they haven't mentioned flood proof furniture.. Hebden Bridge seems to flood every single year, a lot of businesses really suffer I think.
On Siobhan’s Instagram story she mentions that the bottom of the bar is uncladded because of flooding, so maybe they did take it all into account but it didn’t get included.
MrsSlocombesPussy · 20/03/2021 10:31

I've forgotten the names of the restaurants now, but I googled them while watching.
Couldn't find any interior photos on the Facebook page of Paul & Micaela's restaurant.
It looks like the other restaurant has kept most of the elements of Siobhan & Lynsey's design.

TheStreamThatStoodStill · 20/03/2021 14:57

Wow. What kind of money is Siobhan earning that she can afford and furnush/decorate a house like that?!

LadyEloise · 20/03/2021 15:25

Square One may have been one of them ???

LemonViolet · 20/03/2021 16:06

I guess she must get a lot of discounts/freebies for featuring the stuff on insta. Or even paid for some of it. That’s not sneering or complaining. As long as it’s done honestly it’s a legit business model.

Well this is post 999 so will see you all on the next thread for THE FINAL!!!

I don't know if Charlotte is being misrepresented, but they can't show what doesn't exist. She doesn't do herself any favours, she knows she's being filmed. I agree with pp about Siobhan, she had a few digs about Barbara in the office episode.
I didn't really like any of the shops, especially the bizarre wallpaper, but I'm obviously way off trend.

The way she spoke to Siobhan regarding the tents in the rain was appalling. She comes across as very agitated and uncomfortable in front of people.
