It’s back!!! Now with extra added Alan Carr!!!

Starts tonight. I didn’t find the first series until well after it finished and binge watched it, enjoyed following the thread on here as I did so but I was way behind the time to contribute anything.

Looking forward to enjoying this series hopefully with some viper chatter as we go along. Come on in, all opinions welcome!

I laughed at 'gibbet'.

LemonViolet · 02/02/2021 20:52

This is why I love MN. I would never have found the Rightmove listing!

Shock at the price of these houses though. Fark.

Michelle: “don’t get defensive”

Charlotte:

We see your agenda, editor!

Poor Fearne getting the chop. Why I wonder?
I have never seen this before but it is pretty good. I'm hopeless with colour so it's nice to see other people's creative eyes! I wish I was more creative.

Halsall · 02/02/2021 20:57

I know, Lemon. DH is from Oxford and he's making me look them up online for him so he can be gobsmacked.

The master bedrooms are 30 foot by 10 foot....so long and narrow.

LemonViolet · 02/02/2021 20:58

Stripey pink lady don’t cry! You’re staying!

TheSpottedZebra · 02/02/2021 20:58

Charlotte is going to watch herself back and wonder why she has no control over her face.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 02/02/2021 21:00

That headboard in Mona's room was bloody awful. She should step away from the staple gun.

ArosGartref · 02/02/2021 21:01

So, let's reflect on what we've learnt, really hear the criticism and build on it...bedrooms need curtains!

LemonViolet · 02/02/2021 21:01

It was a bit 80s conservatory cane furniture wasn’t it

How fucking much are those houses Shock

I think the right one got sent home, what was she thinking putting plants into paper bags and not having a curtain in a show home bedroom!

LemonViolet · 02/02/2021 21:03

You know that thing that crying drag chap did with the colour block on the wall behind the bed, taking the colour onto the ceiling as a “postmodern four poster effect” (according to LLB).... do you reckon that would work with coving as well?

I don't like Chatlotte, imagine rolling your eyes when your partner is talking on the telly!
I didn't really like any of the rooms tbh.
Happy to see Good Looking Carpenter™ from The Great British Design Challenge is in it.

Ooh I know he's lovely isn't he.

LemonViolet · 02/02/2021 21:11

I predict Charlotte will scrape by for weeks doing slightly half-arsed things and being rude to everyone, and never accepting criticism, but because Michelle will “see something in her” she’ll keep her. Really that navy wall and bed dressing was very standard but both the judges seemed to think it was brilliant.

I think the issue would be that the coving shape would create the optical illusion that you couldn't paint in a straight lineGrin

funtimefrank · 02/02/2021 21:13

Dds have christened her Evil Charlotte. Dd1 was especially horrified at what a grade a bitch she was. She got a shocking edit.

I liked camp mans pink and green. I also liked paint effect lady although not the gibet. She was incredibly glossy. EC clearly hated her though.

The bedrooms all looked cramped to me. Appreciate there was extra space but I found them quite small. Didn't see the point of dr guys pictures or all that panelling everyone did.

DietrichandDiMaggio · 02/02/2021 21:14

I'm not shocked by the price, because I live in Oxford, but they're not even in a desirable area with amenities - it's a new estate next to the ring road.

covetingthepreciousthings · 02/02/2021 22:47

Does anyone know if any of the contestants have a blog for it this year ? I loved reading the blog on it with all the behind the scenes info last series, gave me a different view of it knowing how little budget / time they got for some of them.

Also love finding the properties after and seeing if they've changed it Grin like the chocolate hotel last year I think changed most of them!?

covetingthepreciousthings · 02/02/2021 22:48

I loved the pink and green room!

And yes to Charlotte, it's either bad editing or she was lazy and rude.. I said to DH at the beginning she'll be the bitch of the series. Something off about her, didn't seem to have anything good to say about her fellow contestants or team mate - but again, it could be in the edit.

covetingthepreciousthings · 02/02/2021 22:52

Just looking at Instagram and see that Charlotte & Micaela have launched a business together.. of heirloom upholstery..

MyHouse2011 · 02/02/2021 22:54

Did they mention the budget at all?

covetingthepreciousthings · 02/02/2021 22:59

@MyHouse2011 they didn't on the show, which I always found frustrating so found it really interesting to read the blog posts by Nicki Balmford-Bowes last season as she gave quite a detailed breakdown of the actual brief and the budgets and how much time they had to source materials too.

After reading her blog I felt the frustration with some of the tasks for them as they were really stuck with such a small time frame / budget constraints.

hohohopeless · 02/02/2021 23:05

I haven't seen previous series of this so is all new to me.

I think Mona was the right choice to go. How can you have a bedroom, especially a show home bedroom, without any window dressing? Also disliked her bedhead.

covetingthepreciousthings · 02/02/2021 23:09

https://mosaicsoxford.co.uk/gallery/

Judging by the show home gallery, it doesn't look like they went or kept any of the designs. I always find this the most interesting part Grin

I think last year a few places did keep the designs - the lakeside lodges I think and a couple of the shops?
