It’s back!!! Now with extra added Alan Carr!!!

Starts tonight. I didn’t find the first series until well after it finished and binge watched it, enjoyed following the thread on here as I did so but I was way behind the time to contribute anything.

Looking forward to enjoying this series hopefully with some viper chatter as we go along. Come on in, all opinions welcome!

So pleased this is back! Also pleased Alan Carr is on it too. What happened to Fearne?

LemonViolet · 02/02/2021 16:14

No idea, I do like Alan Carr though. Not sure what either of them have to do with interior design though!

Oh yay, thanks for the reminder. I hope AC doesn't make it all about himself as comedians on non funny shows are prone to do.
Wonder who we'll hate first 🤔

quarentini · 02/02/2021 16:38

I'm recording it so I can watch in peace.
I read that Fearne only knew she wasn't doing it after she saw a clip of the new series being advertised

LemonViolet · 02/02/2021 16:47

Gosh that’s a bit rotten isn’t it. But if they’d manage to film and edit an entire series without her noticing until it was being trailed, it doesn’t sound like she was paying massive amounts of attention/in particularly frequent communication with the production company to keep in the loop as to when it would be on again!

Eesh! That's not so great, I like Fearne Sad

covetingthepreciousthings · 02/02/2021 16:51

So pleased this is back though, didn't even know it was coming back till now so even more excited to find out I don't have long to wait with it starting tonight! Whoop!

teuer · 02/02/2021 19:39

I noticed it was back yesterday. Looking forward to it.

ArosGartref · 02/02/2021 19:43

Great, I really enjoyed the first one. Wasn't Joe lycett in it as well?

Don't think so?

Whatsnewpussyhat · 02/02/2021 20:06

Joe Lycett is in sewing bee. Took over from claudia winkleman.

LemonViolet · 02/02/2021 20:09

Right, just settling in! They’re introducing everyone a bit quick for me I’m not keeping track of who’s who.

Happy it’s show homes first - good test I think - needs to appeal to a broad audience and not just be all about the designer.

What has the stripey pink woman got on her feet btw?

OP posts:
TheSpottedZebra · 02/02/2021 20:12

Early candidate for Annoying onenis the woman doing the room divider. She will clash with her partner.

Otoh, I like Michaela the upholsterer.

Snap judgement, me?

TheSpottedZebra · 02/02/2021 20:13

Lots of them are in affiliated jobs aren't they? Which makes sense. Upholsterer, set designer, merchandisers... But the previous series weren't like that.

TheSpottedZebra · 02/02/2021 20:14

Of course, clearly the BBC's drag obsession endures...

LemonViolet · 02/02/2021 20:16

Ooh, the affable camp chap that works for a “beauty retailer” just said that the is most influenced by drag culture! So how does that translate to interiors, boudoirs full of feather boas and glitter?

I did like the botanical print armchair in his house though.

LightDrizzle · 02/02/2021 20:17

I’m fucking mortified.
They’ve lost confidence in the content and gone for a personality driven, frenetic, shite reality TV vibe.
Such a shame, I used to like it.
I hope Sky don’t follow suit with Portrait and Landscape Artist of the Year. Can you imagine?

LemonViolet · 02/02/2021 20:21

Oh I like the CG mock up of the grey room, not sure about strips of wallpaper though won’t that look odd in real life?Hope they do the plan for each design, I love when they do plans on renovation programmes etc :-)

Ooh I spy a screen with envy panel!

OP posts:
Whatsnewpussyhat · 02/02/2021 20:23

I love that they bang on about how different they are and creative and love interiors, then in shows them in their homes sitting 2ft away from an ikea billy bookcase.

Makes me feel better about having 5.

I think I'd quite like to be an upholsterer.

TheSpottedZebra · 02/02/2021 20:25

I'd like to be an upholsterer too. I mean I have no useful transferable skills, but I like upholstered things.

ArosGartref · 02/02/2021 20:27

I can't believe someone has cried in episode 1.

TheSpottedZebra · 02/02/2021 20:27

Surely showhomes are about showing off the - you know - home, and not about creating art or whatever.

Pink Siobhan is the only one who has actually mentioned the assets of the house, ie the curtains to highlight the view. Stuff like the room divider seems to say that the build is lacking or not thought-through.

TheSpottedZebra · 02/02/2021 20:28

@ArosGartref

I can't believe someone has cried in episode 1.
He is my necw candidate for Most Annoying. His partner is going to feel she has to spend all her time reassuring him. He's an oxygen thief.
LemonViolet · 02/02/2021 20:29

It’s just stapling fabric to wood isn’t it, how hard can it be? Grin

Ooh Charlotte isn’t a team player is she.

Like the metallic geometric wallpaper in drag chap’s room.

Checking in for this. I found an old series of the original Great British Interior Design Challenge on one of the far-flung Sky channels a few weeks ago, and it was great
