I remember Sophie and Mel's death on Hollyoaks in 2006 the earliest.

OP posts:

@kursaalflyer haha, I like how our memories bookend the whole era!

FatCatThinCat · 11/01/2021 14:26

It's a Knockout when it was different countries competing. The commentator was all 'Yugoslavia are in yellow and getting thrashed by France in blue' but it was in black and white!

Some Saturday night/Christmas entertainment show, probably with Bruce Forsyth or someone like that in. It was a black and white TV and early 80's (we were poor). I also remember seeing an Adam Ant music video on my uncles posh colour TV and Max Headroom later on and being scared of him.

Jamie and the Magic Torch
Chorlton and the Wheelies

Both most excellent feem choons

30not13 · 11/01/2021 22:48

@Lurleene

I used to love a show called Barnaby. I can vividly remember being in my back garden playing with my next door neighbour when my Mum called me in to watch it. He said he would go and watch it on his telly too. I was amazed that Barbaby could be in more than on telly at once. BLEW MY MIND Smile
I had a Barnaby!
dancingindungarees · 11/01/2021 22:51

You and Me loved Cosmo and Dibbs

calamityjam · 11/01/2021 22:55

Probably either rainbow, Jamie and the magic torch or the Sullivan's

Sunnysausage · 11/01/2021 22:56

The Wombles - probably mid-late 70s. It was the only thing I was allowed to watch and for a long time I thought that all TV was The Wombles...

calamityjam · 11/01/2021 22:56

Sullivans no apostrophe stupid autocorrect

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 11/01/2021 22:58

Probably PlaySchool

WhateverJohnnyMcNofriends · 11/01/2021 23:04

Probably Rainbow, Button Moon, Pigeon Street (I really wanted to be long distance Clara when I grew up) or Bagpuss.

The test card was on a lot too.

Knittingnanny · 11/01/2021 23:09

We got our first tv in 1966 for the World Cup, I can remember my dad falling off the pouffe in excitement when England won!

supercatlady · 11/01/2021 23:09

Coca Cola advert with “I’d like to teach the world t sing” song

I loved Long Distance Clara too! Can still remember the tune to her song 🤣
mothtoaflame · 12/01/2021 19:23

Bod and finger mouse 😊

mum2jakie · 12/01/2021 19:39

I've just remembered some others - vague memories of wind up toys with a man in a shop from a programme called Bric-a-Brac and a man driving a car made out of boxes in Choc-a-Bloc! 😂

Tangledtresses · 12/01/2021 20:20

The Wombles 🤣

ilovecardigans · 13/01/2021 01:19

The Apollo 11 moon landings, July 1969 on a tiny black & white TV screen. I was 4 years old and mesmerised.

Arobase · 13/01/2021 01:22

Popeye cartoons. I used to think they were the cream of wit.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 13/01/2021 01:29

Rupert the bear.

And although I’m hardier now with regards to my viewing, apparently RTB wasn’t watched again after this little chap came on. I fled screaming.

He’s actually ok now I’m not 4...

There was a series with a Czech? Fairy tale which was dubbed into English, was it white horses?
Captain Pugwash.
Topcat.

notangelinajolie · 13/01/2021 01:52

The Magic Roundabout. Bill and Ben. Play School.

user686833 · 13/01/2021 01:57

Roland Rat when I was 2, Greenclaws, The Riddler's, and Play Days at 3. I also have very early memories of Worzil Gummidge and The Munsters at around age 2 or 3.

user686833 · 13/01/2021 02:20

@dancingindungarees ah thank you thank you thank you. You and Me was my favourite programme age 3. I've tried youtubing it in the past but 'you and me' gets too many random hits. I'd totally forgotten the puppets names, and now I've just spent a very nostalgic time watching old clips. Now I know why I wanted to call my son Cosmo (sadly didn't) and why I love reggae music Grin.

CarryOnFestiveNamechanging · 13/01/2021 07:14

We didn’t have a tv until 1989, so I only got to see it when I visited friends. I remember going to a friends house to watch Fame in the early 80s. I must have seen something before that though.
