I remember Sophie and Mel's death on Hollyoaks in 2006 the earliest.

OP posts:

The gremlins. Id have been around 4 or 5 and my babysitter let me watch it with her. I had a horrible nightmare that night that I can still recall. That also happens to be the first dream I can remember

CheviotEwe · 09/01/2021 17:45

I think possibly Hector's House, around 1969/70, when I was 3. In black and white, obvs Grin If not that, then it could have been Bill & Ben or Andy Pandy. Also in black and white!

zukiecat · 09/01/2021 18:39

Noggin The Nog

I think it was repeats I watched though, this would be late 60's/early 70's.

I loved that programme and still do.

AlsoKnownAsMillicent · 09/01/2021 18:54

Episodes of the Mr Men, weekday lunchtimes, circa 1977?

augustusglupe · 09/01/2021 19:47

Watch with Mother. I loved Poggles wood and Hectors house.

JimmyJabs · 09/01/2021 20:09

Ooh, good idea for a thread! Mine was Blue Peter, I think, presented at the time by Sarah Greene, Simon Groom, and Peter Duncan. This would have been the early 80s. The pets at the time were Goldie the dog and Jack and Jill the cats 😆

speakout · 09/01/2021 20:11

The Woodentops - 1965.

Button moon!

apricotdreams · 09/01/2021 20:47

Crystal tips and Alastair. Loved that

Squeejit · 09/01/2021 20:50

Seesaw programs. They were on after Pebble Mill which seemed to drag on and on.
Things like Rainbow, Mr Ben, Bagpuss, Jamie and the Magic Torch, Button Moon.

WanderingMilly · 09/01/2021 20:51

The Clangers...black and white, original series in the 1960s (1969?)

worried890 · 09/01/2021 20:57

The Riddlers, Alphabet Castle and Take the High Road/Brookside ... about 1994ish .

ginislife · 09/01/2021 21:44

The test card. 1961. I was about 18 months old and apparently had measles so my cot was in the living room so mum could keep an eye on me. I remember looking through the bars at the test card on the tv. Next thing I remember was Winston Churchill's funeral 1965 ?

LongHotSummerJustPassedMeBy · 09/01/2021 21:47

Princess Anne's wedding in 1973.

Graphista · 09/01/2021 21:51

How old are you that your first memory is 2006?! Making me feel very old!

First vague memory for me was "rainbow" and then 1st more firm memory was "the famous five" both on black and white tv, didn't get a colour tv until I was 14 which was mid 80's, a lot of people we knew also still had b&w tv then too

Grin Extremely young. A teenager.
PuppyMonkey · 09/01/2021 22:08

Andy Pandy. Teddy was hiding and he was crouching down in a corner and thought just because he couldn’t see Andy Pandy, nobody could see him.

This is a very vivid memory.

Graphista · 09/01/2021 22:16

@Ginfordinner are you op? 2006 is only 14 years ago, I remember tv from when I was 3-4 so assuming same true for op (which begs the question why they were being allowed to watch hollyoaks) they'd only be 17/18 now?

Or else they never saw any tv until their teens? Possible (I have very religious relatives who don't own tv or radio etc) but rare at least in Uk

Just interested in the scenario

Babdoc · 09/01/2021 22:27

Gosh, this makes me feel old! I remember the old black and white Watch With Mother programnes - Picture Book, Andy Pandy, Rag Tag and Bobtail, Bill and Ben, and the Woodentops. Not to mention Tales of the Riverbank, Animal Magic, Fireball XL5, and Stingray.
Later, I remember seeing the first ever episode of Dr Who, with William Hartnell as the Doctor. The Tardis was inside a creepy scrapyard and the programme scared the hell out of me! I also recall being bored by the first episode of a new show called Coronation Street, which my mother was watching. I thought it would never catch on...Grin

No. I was adding my comment. The OP must be a teenager.

We didn't get a TV until I was 11, but I remember my mum taking us over to a relative's house to watch Winston Churchill's funeral in 1965. I would have been 6 at the time.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 09/01/2021 22:37

I vaguely remember Will O the Wisp. Evil Edna used to scare me. Me too!

Campervan69 · 09/01/2021 22:40
  1. My 3rd birthday. My mum was still in hospital having given birth to my brother. I was with our next door neighbour watching Rainbow. It was Bungle's 3rd birthday as well! What's the odds? I watched every year on my birthday and it was a complete con. He never had another birthday.....
