It's heartbreaking when you see the dates and know what's coming.

Yes every episode they seem to have visited people in January 20 and it's so sad knowing what's just around the corner.
CaptainMyCaptain · 03/02/2021 21:47

Yes. Something nobody could have planned for.

SoupDragon · 03/02/2021 21:48

They skipped the whole year on this one.

CaptainMyCaptain · 03/02/2021 21:50

Lockdown in that tiny caravan in the shed!

SoupDragon · 03/02/2021 21:50

Dear god - they did lockdown in the caravan!!

SoupDragon · 03/02/2021 21:51

😂

SoupDragon · 03/02/2021 21:52

I hate the front door and I'm not keen on the interior.

CaptainMyCaptain · 03/02/2021 21:55

It does look a bit sterile but quite liveable.

SoupDragon · 03/02/2021 21:56

I understand that the old timbers weren't salvageable but... but... 🙁

CaptainMyCaptain · 03/02/2021 21:57

The door looks a bit like the entrance to a museum or public building but I suppose they didn't want it to look fake old.

LarsErickssong · 03/02/2021 22:00

I loved the dining room table but it's such a shame they couldn't have kept that beautiful stone floor, I'm definitely with Kevin in that it's a shame they didn't keep more original features.

SoupDragon · 03/02/2021 22:04

At the start, I thought they might re-lay the floor.

Fourcolourpens · 03/02/2021 22:05

I thought the internals looked really bland, the windows are tiny so must be very dark, hence all the spotlights. Outside just looked like a non-descript old building. I would have loved to see the water wheels restored and much more of the original internals kept.

The stair case was lovely but look up massive amounts of floor space, it was hard to tell where furniture would be placed. Very little usable space for such a big building.

CaptainMyCaptain · 03/02/2021 22:07

I would have liked to keep the millstones in the floor and just level them up. I don't think they really work as a table, you'd lose things down the hole in the middle.

SoupDragon · 03/02/2021 22:07

The programme that has followed it is on an entirely different scale!!

I'm hating it already.
Macronisanarse · 03/02/2021 22:13

I felt for them but they were well out of their depth. Never seen Kevin as unhappy

Yes.

He was happy up in the roof :)

CaptainMyCaptain · 03/02/2021 22:22

I meant I'm hating the billionaire's house in the following programme.

The mill house in Grand Designs was quite nice but not as good as it could have been. Probably with even more money thrown at it.

Frodont · 03/02/2021 22:23

Was that the last episode?

CrumpetandSausage · 03/02/2021 22:49

Were the cracker/rotting supporting beams in the water ever repaired?

TonytheDog · 03/02/2021 23:04

They were very out of their depth and all that old wood ripped out? And the staircase! I think they bought the wrong building. £500k would have been needed to do it justice and restore it properly.
The millstones look stupid as table, why didn't they dig the floor down and put the millstones back? I've never seen Kevin so scathing. But I do agree with him.
Also - where's the garden?

TonytheDog · 03/02/2021 23:04

CrumpetandSausage no, they left it.
