"2) she was only 18/19 at the time of the abuse. Why would she have a big house to live in all by herself? How could she afford it on a care workers wage?

  1. mick and Tina said she disappeared out of their lives. But mick knew where she lived so could have gone to her house. He was writing to her so had her address.

  2. Katy said she had gotten a job far away to explain why she left."

Lived in parents' house, moved away, parents die and she inherits so she moves back?

the80sweregreat · 09/01/2021 12:56

Katy said she left the care home and moved away after Mick went back to his own home but obviously she must have written to him with her address for them to stay in touch.
She might have gone to live with her own parents and then inherited that house? It's not really explained is it?
Mind you , the whole thing is bonkers anyway. How Shirley knew how to contact her straight away was also silly!
She was obviously able to explain away the pregnancy and Frankie must have been fobbed off about the whereabouts of her dad in the past too.
Frankie packs a punch though ! That man mocking her didn't stand a chance!
What is new head Chelsea up to then?
Stitching up her dad could prove dangerous.

"The trouble with these covid storylines is that we're told the woeful stories by Sonia (everyone is dying) yet life is completely normal elsewhere. Covid doesn't exist outside the hospital in Eastenders."

You still get people on MN who don't know anyone who's had Covid and for a while there were areas where most of the transmission seemed to be within hospitals.
I don't think I'd want to have to try to understand them all with their masks on to be honest. We just have to pretend that Albert Square was under a Swedish regime or something.

the80sweregreat · 09/01/2021 13:05

I said to my dh that having a conversation with masks on wouldn't come across that well so maybe that's why they are not doing this just now?
I don't watch any other soaps , but maybe they being a bit more realistic about it than EE are!
It seems strange seeing pubs and cafes open etc :( reminds of when we could all go out for a drink or a meal !

Thismustbelove · 09/01/2021 13:11

Mick recognised the landing and bedroom.

iknowimcoming · 09/01/2021 13:22

Will the gansta Chelsea appears to working for turn out to be Raymond's adopted granny aka mica Paris I wonder? That would be too intertwined really but in ee anything is possible! And is she doing it so she can go back to Dee and say she did it for her to get Lucas put away again?

Thismustbelove · 09/01/2021 13:23

I meant a dr and nurse can’t just both leave their shifts and head off together. They have to inform their colleagues when they are leaving the wards and when they will be back as their colleagues have to look after the patients that they were assigned to at the beginning of the shift

the80sweregreat · 09/01/2021 13:24

Hmm, he did have flashbacks in that house didn't he? Obviously not her parents home then I guess unless they had both died and she able to live there mortgage free on carers wages? Possibly.
I thought that maybe she lived in the care home with the children , but that can't have happened either!
It tis a mystery! Like most of EE lately.

I think we’re giving more thought to the backstory than the writers want us to Grin

Yes! When they went to the boarded up children's home I thought that it would come out she had abused him in the actual home :(
the80sweregreat · 09/01/2021 13:35

Ahh to the tablets and the grinder Sharon uses just hanging around on the side.
I think most people would notice this straight away, but clearly Ian is too poorly to go into the kitchen to make a sandwich or get a drink or whatever. You do have to suspend belief so many times ! Lol

YouBoughtMeAWall · 09/01/2021 13:37

He mustn’t be going in the kitchen. Ian is a chef. He would definitely spot a P&M and wonder what she was cooking that required it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/01/2021 13:45

Yes weird they mention COVID as in Sonja overworked and people dying

Then a cake for wedding. If not in a world pandemic why would they struggle. Just go to m&s for a cake. Don’t buy a dead mans cake

Would a cake maker do that

Guess they get double money

And yes the fly around the world let alone get time off work

Chelsea obv doing a dodg6 job getting daddy to help help but as she wasn’t playing ball the gangsters beat up dad to warn her

It’s the same in Corrie they make token effort wear a mask to walk in shop or cafe then take it straight off to have a conversation. In 20 years when it’s on classics everyone’s will be very confused.

the80sweregreat · 09/01/2021 14:05

Yes, they will have to have a ' covid alert' marker in the corner of the episodes when it's on classic tv in a few decades time.
(Unless all this mask wearing will just be with us forever now and we will never be able to take them off in public places which how it is in many other countries. I can see that happening too :(

Thismustbelove · 09/01/2021 14:12

When are you going Sonia.
Tonight!

It's always the same.
Does anyone in EE ever prepare for a holiday - make sure their bills are paid, have to sort anything out before they go, buy anything before they go, even go to the launderette to wash anything they might want to bring with them? Nah - they always decide to go and leave that night. Doesn't matter if they are single, married, have kids, have jobs, own or rent property. They drop everything and just go.

Thismustbelove · 09/01/2021 14:18

That's the best part Grin

the80sweregreat · 09/01/2021 14:24

Nope, if people leave it's one little suitcase and off they trot to the train station or get on a cab. I'd have to find my passport and take at least an hour to pack after getting the case out the loft first. Not to mention everything else..
oh to be in a soap and not have to fret about life's big details!

And even when it's a country where inoculations are required Or recommended, visas or any additional thing, not a problem. Pack their suitcase and away with them.

Yes. And at every hand's turn she simply fobs him off with a cuppa of the drugged tea. Just like that.
the80sweregreat · 09/01/2021 14:37

My dh went to India a lot with his job a few years ago and he had to take malaria tablets.
It does depends where you go apparently: I can't remember which part Bex and Robbie went to?
You also need a visa too I think , but maybe not for a holiday?
.. it's another world on soaps eh?

YouBoughtMeAWall · 09/01/2021 14:37

I’m just imagining Ian taking yet another cup of tea out of politeness to his new wife thinking “when should I tell her I don’t like tea?” Grin

the80sweregreat · 09/01/2021 14:50

It would make more sense to see Sharon cooking him some nice dinners or soups as that would disguise the taste of the tablets a lot more I would have thought?
'
'You lay down and have a nap while I chop up Jean's anti depressants for you dear'
She made that trout for dinner one Good Friday , so we know she can cook!

Ah yes the infamous "mobi dick" comment.
Thismustbelove · 09/01/2021 15:02

With Ian - surely people must assume he has covid. Patrick had it so they know it exists. Surely someone must think he had covid and that's why he is tired and unwell - not one of them shows any concern that he is wondering around potentially spreading it to them!!!

Is Chelsea supporting Lucas because she has him lined up to 'do a job' for her and whoever she was on the phone to? Why did they beat him up then?
I thought Phil had arranged for him to be beaten up?

Chelsea spoke about liking the finer things in life so is she is part of a criminal gang now and that's where her money is coming from? What is her job supposed to be?
