Here's a thread if anyone else has made one let me know and I'll get this cancelled!

OP posts:

Wow that ending made me well up. I'm so glad the series went ahead.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 24/11/2020 21:28

(sorry meant to say Peter had a great round with his cranachan custard slices but lost the technical)

Impatiens · 24/11/2020 21:28

Gareth there was criticism of Dave's Custard Slice - they said the custard was rubbery I think.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 24/11/2020 21:29

Ah thank you!

Wherrsmaclickypen · 24/11/2020 21:30

Yes kudos to the whole production team for not giving up and actually pulling this off logistically. But maybe just maybe they will invest in an airconditioned tent or move the shoot to spring/autumn next year!

SequinsandStiIettos · 24/11/2020 21:30

Me too.
The problem gareth I think was him calling it a tower of redemption. But on two of his failed bakes, he still didn't redeem himself Sad
Such a gutsy move though, I approve.
Had he made two other things as layers and they had gone awry, it still would have been 2/4 for both and they could have justified it. But it was a risk that sadly didn't pay off. I do admire those that don't play it safe, mind.

MrsGrindah · 24/11/2020 21:30

They said the custard was stodgy. Looked bloody lovely to me.

MrsGrindah · 24/11/2020 21:31

Baby Ronnie ! Gorgeous

awaynboilyurheid · 24/11/2020 21:31

So pleased for Peter!! felt sorry for Dave but they did say it had been the closest final so hope that makes being second easier , well that and his gorgeous baby I’m sure he’s happy! Lovely final!

CaptainMyCaptain · 24/11/2020 21:31

@SchadenfreudePersonified I thought that. I expect the children that were there in the bubble will have made good friends too. A great experience for them.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 24/11/2020 21:33

Ah thanks Sequins. I need to rewatch Peter's showstopper judging segment, I thought a fair few of his elements didn't meet the grade Grin

TheChristmasPrincess · 24/11/2020 21:33

I felt bad for Dave. You could tell by his eyes that he thought he had won it. But he was very gracious in defeat.

And he has a brand new shiny baby to help take the sting off! Lovely baby Ronnie (how cute is that name, my grandad is Ronald and goes by Ronnie 😍🥰)

awaynboilyurheid · 24/11/2020 21:34

Love the memes that said expecting Pru to start singing,
I close my eyes drew back the curtain ...with her Joseph technicolour coat ( I do love her style but it made me laugh)

CherryValanc · 24/11/2020 21:49

I warmed to everyone in that episode. Evidently a slow burner fir me 😄.

I was fully expecting Dave to win, going by how it goes by each week individually and not overall.

Can't figure out why the seemed to judge it entirely on the showstopper. There were two other bakes!!

funtimefrank · 24/11/2020 21:51

Thank goodness I wasn't the only one with something in my eye and I'm usually nails about this stuff........

Dd2 has a crush on perfect peter (she is 11 tbf) but called it for Dave as did Dd2. Pleased with either tbh and Laura went out with dignity I thought.

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 24/11/2020 21:52

I was a bit confused as I thought all the families bubbled with them but they werent there at the end?

ILoveYou3000 · 24/11/2020 21:53

I'm pretty sure it was only single parents who had their children there bubbling with them.

WotsitWiggle · 24/11/2020 21:54

I thought Dave was going to win it there, if either his babka or puffy thing had been a success I think the balance would have been tipped.

Well deserved for Peter though, he's been great all the way through and is a more natural fit for follow up books / shows which I'm sure is a consideration.

Loved the film at the end, I think this lot are likely to stay in touch because of the bubble, so much time spent together.

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 24/11/2020 21:55

Thank you, that makes sense!

iklboogeymum · 24/11/2020 22:01

Peter hasn't aged in the face at all. He's just got taller. Glad he win. Poor Dave looked like that kid in school who desperately wanted to be picked bless him.

kursaalflyer · 24/11/2020 22:06

@derxa we're close by as well! I was pausing the staff at the end as I know a couple of people who work there. Didn't recognise anyone though!

I'm stuck in Scotland at the moment

lollipoprainbow · 24/11/2020 22:48

I was blubbing by the end ! Just adore Pru and how warm and funny she is.

CoffeeSTAT · 24/11/2020 23:13

Aw I loved that final. I thought all three came across so well. I've been rooting for Peter from the start so I'm delighted he won. He's a superb baker and just seems like a lovely person. Dave I warmed to slightly by the end and Laura seemed good fun.

The cranachan custard slice was amazing. How did he get those raspberries cut in half to perfection at the edge of each one? I love the use of rulers in baking! I'm the opposite and tend to use recipes as mere suggestions, usually with disastrous results...

I'm all happy now after that. Smile

kursaalflyer · 24/11/2020 23:15

@derxa we were due to go to Scotland in the camper this month so I am very envious! You're not missing anything, a large hole has reappeared in the road by the station and there's roadworks everywhere!
