Did anyone else watch this on Sky Atlantic with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant? It was a slow starter but actually really good. Can't wait to watch the rest

OP posts:
EyelinerRocks · 30/11/2020 22:32

Disappointed with the ending too

ThrawnCow · 30/11/2020 22:44

I loved it. Thought HG was superb in that last episode. And the boy, what an actor. Yes there were weaknesses but it's been great to watch through lockdown.

WomanFriday · 30/11/2020 23:00

Really odd and slightly disappointing ending. I've also vowed to never again watch something with NK in it again. She is just TOO plastic/wooden - whatever she is, it's not human. Very, very annoying.

itispersonal · 30/11/2020 23:06

Would have liked it to have been one of the others! Feel slightly miffed and meh over the ending.
Thought taking him at the end would have led to a confession of the others.

Agree with NK face, takes away from what they are saying or doing.

BigBadVoodooHat · 30/11/2020 23:13

So, it continued to be stupidly implausible right to the very end. Hmm

HG’s lawyer recommending that they just pretend that the murder weapon didn’t happen time show up at the family beach house. Really? She’d risk throwing away her entire career, and risk getting a criminal conviction, by colluding with her client to pervert the course of justice, for no apparent reason? Hmm

Still, it was worth sitting through that entire heap of drivel for the bit where NC was running along the bridge, supposedly frantic to save her son, and her face was like a pebble with eyes drawn on it. Literally no expression whatsoever. Grin

Lived how the writers trolled her by having the lawyer tell her that she must not show any emotion in the courtroom - she couldn’t even if she wanted to, pet. Grin

My Sky is not working and I've watched this every week so I missed it☹️. Can someone please give a wee overview of what happened last night? Thanks

LadyCatStark · 01/12/2020 08:28

Agree what Nicole Kidman’s face ruined it. Every facial expression she tried just came out as either mild surprise or sulking, neither of which I think she was going for 😂

ThrawnCow · 01/12/2020 14:29

"Embalmed" is right. So sad.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 01/12/2020 15:04

At one point it was like a real Joker type mouth, no need for it..

PuppyMonkey · 01/12/2020 15:14

I enjoyed it on the whole. I think, actually, they'd led us so far up and down the garden path suggesting it might be NK, her son, her lawyer friend, her dad, the dead woman's husband, her son - when it turned out to be none of them and the original suspect, THAT was probably the biggest twist of all. Grin

This. Was just too implausible for me. The courtroom scenes in particular - potential witnesses to be called to the stand allowed to watch the trail prior to giving their testimony. Calling a child to the stand without any prep. Calling a witness who you don't know what they are going to say etc

It's a shame I thought this had potential but far too implausible for me

rookiemere · 01/12/2020 20:37

As an episode it was definitely the best so far, Hugh Grant actually showing a good range of emotions, but as to the ending - I feel so cheated. All those red herrings that came to naught and they could have spent a lot more time gradually building up the husbands character rather than all those unnecessary flashbacks to the dead woman.

Yamayo · 02/12/2020 10:50

So just finished watching it and quite enjoyed the 'reveal'.
Hugh Grant was terrific in the last few scenes.

Agree with everyone who was traumatised by NK's face- embalmed is such an apt description! Compare with Sofie Grabol (who played the prosecutor)

Both actresses are the same age. Grabol is an attractive normal-looking woman and Kidman looks like a weird cartoon character. It's so sad, and totally distracts from her acting.

EyelinerRocks · 02/12/2020 13:17

Yes , I do agree that Hugh Grants acting ramped up a notch when he showed his evil nature.

Like a switch was flicked on , plays a baddie much better than the bumbling Englishman act.

Lalalatte · 02/12/2020 13:52

I thought it was a good ending. No big twist but
You don't need that all the time.
The clues were there as to his true nature, his colleague earlier on saying that he basically fed off the emotions of his patients and their parents.

Am surprised that Sophie Grabol and Nicole kidman are the same age.

Yamayo · 02/12/2020 14:07

Sofie is 52 and Nicole is 53

Lalalatte · 02/12/2020 14:17

Wow, not much older than me

Delatron · 02/12/2020 17:30

I really like Hugh Grant as a baddie. Thought he was very convincing!

Lookingoutadirtyoldwindow · 03/12/2020 22:52

Can I just say - read the book it's wonderful and having watched the TV show Won't have impacted at all.
The book is called I should have known and this really sums it up perfectly

Lalalatte · 04/12/2020 11:33

Thanks Looking, I will look out for the book.

queenofarles · 05/12/2020 13:10

It was a bit of a let down , it started so good but had many unexplained twists , Elena showing up to the fundraising meeting and again to the exact gym Grace goes to, was she stalking? But then Grace walking by Elena’s studio is really weird , just how did she end up there? it’s New York not a small market town.

Rainbowb · 05/12/2020 22:42

Was happy for either NK or HG to go to jail, have never forgiven either of them for trying to kill Paddington....

awaynboilyurheid · 06/12/2020 10:34

Thought the ending was a pile of mince! Hugh Grant was really good in it, but I prefer a good twist so had loads of scenarios of who was the guilty party, which all came to nada!!
How would a much respected oncologist who was able to empathise etc and at the top of his career, happily married, loved by hs child suddenly become a psycopath? thought that was just too ridiculous.
Agree about Nicole kidmans face, agree the final running on the bridge scene it just looked immobile and very strange !!! mind you she did manage to get past all the police officers with a quick wave of her arm LOL

bluepeterbadgeholder · 06/12/2020 16:07

Grin Neither have I!
youngestisapsycho · 07/12/2020 00:28

I was surprised it was actually Hugh.... I was convinced we’d find out in last episode it was actually Donald Sutherland did it and set Hugh up cos he hates him
