This is worse than the crepe monstrosity and the brownies put together.

What were they doing at the start if they didn't cook them long enough

All down to showstopper then because these are all shite and no one was brilliant in the first round.

I do think baker standards this year are not as good as previous years

They should have had at least another 30 minutes - it takes forever to steam a pudding properly

Well I don’t think Sussex Pond Puddings will come up again as a technical!

It shouldn't take long to make the pastry you just have to mix it together, basically. They must have spent too long faffing about.

Why didn't they give them enough time to steam them properly? I think that's a failure of the judges, not the contestants

They could've said in the instructions 'steam for at least X amount of time'

They'd still have and to guess but it might've allowed for some more appetising results (or maybe not!)

How is Peter at the bottom when David is repeatedly poor

There was a lot of faffing with resting and kneading and tying the string.

This is another bloody challenge that has feck all to do with baking

That was a wicked waste of good food. Should be given sufficient time to do things correctly and not undercook.

Suet puddings - just enough liquid to bind the mixture then use straight away.

We like suet in this house and I make a lot of suet puddings/pastry.

You can get vegetable suet, too (presumably scraper doff turnip kidneys or something - I don't think results are quite as good with the veg suet).
