Anyone waiting for This is Us season 5? Hopefully will show in UK end of October! Anyone who hasn't watched it, I would strongly recommend it!

Just finished it and yes that's a surprise but if I can watch and still make sense by fast forwarding all the Randal bits then I'll try that. He really is such an odious character. His wife and the girls and his dad were all lovely.

What an end to episode two !
I watched 3 seasons last year so the wait to season 4 felt long. But I managed to watch them all in one go. I don’t like the Thursday wait :(

I'm always saying to my son who watches it with me that it must be exhausting being Randall. In episode 2 he said "it's exhausting being me"

I can't really believe the end of episode 2. Have they completely run out of story ideas?!

Considering Randall being black and how he relates in a white family is a major part of the show..it would have been quite ridiculous to ignore the BLM issue.
Also if you're filming durng covid, it would be quite impossible to not address it or most of the show would make no sense

It doesn't need to feature anything that is happening at the time of filming, it could happily ignore all that. I'm not sure any other series focused on what was happening at the time and this wont therefore stand the test of time in the same way.

I'm just not a fan of the writing this season, maybe they've changed?

I love This is Us. Hate Randall too. He was nice as a child but just gets more unbearable every season. Love Beth though. I was hoping they'd split up.

I like Kate and Rebecca and Jack. And I liked Toby until season 4 when he became a twat.

I love this show. It’s not glamorous or action packed or follow a classic story line but it beautifully encapsulated the everyday of family and tragedy and joy and relationships.
I think everyone now matter who you are can find something in this show that strikes a chord. For me it’s being adopted and struggling with my weight. So I can sympathise with Randall more than other people may do because I can see the impact being adopted has on his thoughts and actions.
I don’t think you are supposed to fully love or hate any character as you would in a normal show with a hero and a villain. I think is shows how complicated life is and how life events can influence our actions. Even Jack who is the ‘hero’ and the loved one has had his total tosser moments!
I’m not sure about the end of episode 2 though. Really want to discuss it but don’t want to spoil it for anyone else! There’s several things about it i can’t quite get straight and I feel it would have changed things in the past/things would have been different

I love everything about this show! The story is brilliantly told I believe everyone can take something from it, in any parts for me it is fascinating how we behave as adults is shaped by the things happened while we were kids- in films psychologists always question the childhood memories, etc and I often thought it is such a cliche but in fact it is true! This show also made me think how I approach my 15yo DD in situations and made me realise the things I might be doing wrong

What time did it arrive on prime last Wednesday? Can’t wait for next episode

I've watched the first two of the new season
Episode one bored me.
Episode two was better but Randall, as a pp said, is just a miserable, entitled test and I can't be doing with his self righteous-ness.
Can't be doing with him at all now. And I agree with another pp he grew on me in a better way than Kevin and now I prefer Kevin and dislike Randal.

I'm exactly the same, really like Kevin now and have gone off Randall in a big way. Not sure if I want loads more story following on from the big moment at the end of episode 2?

Next episode is on the 10th. I wasn’t keen on the first episode of season 5, I do think they were trying to get the big issues out of the way though before the main story line continues. Randal as an adult is odious, so superior. Love love love Kevin, doesn’t hurt that he is smoking hot and so so lovely.

The writing has changed as Jas Waters one of the main writers of the show commit suicide earlier this year. I really think Season 5 is completely different to the rest. Perhaps it’s because they don’t have Jas anymore.

I LOVE This is Us and am nearly at the end of Season 4 I think! Just watched the first Covid/BLM episode with DH last night.

William is my favourite, then Toby. Kate is great. I really didn’t like Kevin initially, but he has grown on me. Feel sorry for Randall - his issues are beginning to overwhelm him.

I loved Jack, but now find him a bit grating. Rebecca - meh, but I am loving/horrified by the dementia storyline as my DM has dementia.

Must search up season 5

So so sad that Jas Waters took her life - the writers are amazing
