Anyone waiting for This is Us season 5? Hopefully will show in UK end of October! Anyone who hasn't watched it, I would strongly recommend it!

Well that was interesting - brought a few strands together.

Yesbutisittouching · 06/01/2021 23:12

Had a good cry during Kevin and Randall’s call. Was a great episode. 👏👏

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2021 04:57

I still don’t know how she didn’t reliese she had a baby or search for that baby or Randals dad /her partner

Hope we find out in e6

Or they might make us wait

TodgerStrunk · 07/01/2021 12:19

It will be nice for Randall to find out more about his mother but it's all a bit Bobby Ewing coming out of the shower for me.

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/01/2021 12:44

i'm guessing maybe she was in a coma or something or had a stroke or brain damage and therefore didn't realise for a long time - hopefully they do something more clever than "it was all a dream"

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2021 17:16

I said previously that the flashback of friends when preg

Surely they would have known she wasn’t dead or in a coma etc

Just weird William lived in same place but knew nothing

SapatSea · 09/01/2021 14:09

I wonder how they will get round William living in the same neighbourhood. Surely a nosey neighbour would see Laurel being taken to hospital or an abandoned black baby matching up with a recent post partum woman brought into a hospital after an OD? Maybe they'll skirt over some of the issues, Laurel will get clean and decide never to return to the area and move to New Orleans for a fresh start. Even then surely you'd want your clothes/ID docs etc?

I couldn't believe kate went to confront her ex bf all these years later, really, would you?

WaxOnFeckOff · 09/01/2021 14:19

Nah, I'd have Facebook stalked the shit out of that situation years before and realised what a shit life he was having, smiled and cracked on with my own life.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/01/2021 22:48

Anyone seen 6

Just downloaded

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 22:59

Yeah, I watched earlier but won't spoil it for you. I still have unanswered questions...

Yesbutisittouching · 13/01/2021 23:02

I loved ep6 🥰 generally this programme is my crying therapy 🤣

SapatSea · 13/01/2021 23:20

I watched and also have questions. Intense

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 23:22

Can we arrange to reconvene to ask questions or are those who've not yet watched avoiding the thread?

Timeandtune · 13/01/2021 23:24

Just watched it. Thought it was excellent Sterling is a fabulous actor.

Tottington · 13/01/2021 23:26

Hmmm... I'm a bit disappointed with this season. I think Kate and the ex was ridiculous. She seemed petty imho. The Randell birth parents stories are far too sugary.

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 23:30

Okay, I'm going to go for my question. Okay I can kinda see why after 5 years in jail etc she would be reluctant to engage and find her child (not completely but ok) But what I don't understand is that fair enough, she didn't have a phone number for William and her baby but she did know where they lived, why wouldn't she get her lawyer to get someone to go round/post a letter in the days after her release from hospital and arrest? It's not like she was locked away without access to paper and stamps in hospital either. Or did I miss something completely? She'd also surely try to track her son down as an adult just to see how he was even if she didn't actually contact him?

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 23:32

It's not like she was locked away without access to paper and stamps in hospital either I mean no access to this in jail/prison not hospital. Apparently she had every reason to believe she was going to get off with a fine and was planning to do what? run away and not contact William/baby?

hohohopeless · 13/01/2021 23:34

Ooh I've just seen this thread. I'd forgotten it was back in January.

Will tune in tomorrow to catch up.

NaughtipussMaximus · 14/01/2021 08:52

Did quite a bit of crying watching this episode. Even more than last episode! Back on form for me.

NaughtipussMaximus · 14/01/2021 08:55

The impression I got was that she was too ashamed, especially after hearing the nurses talking about what a bad mother she was. It might not be especially plausible but I can just about accept it.

WaxOnFeckOff · 14/01/2021 09:26

Nah, I'm not buying it, she wouldn't even write to William to say you guys are better off without me? Doesn't really fit and very convoluted. wouldn't try to make any contact with the people she'd been with for the last few years on the shock of being arrested? It would have made more sense for her to continue to be an addict and only when clean some years after her release she returned to her aunt or rocked up to her aunts addicted and then when clean think too long had passed and she wasn't worthy still.

I dunno, I don't like Randall so maybe clouds my judgement, hopefully this wipes that misery look of his face and he becomes more likeable :)

LutherRalph1 · 14/01/2021 09:31

I liked the episode but still not buying that she wouldn't be in touch. I could see her parents forcing the shame thing but it didn't even seem like she was back in touch with them?

TodgerStrunk · 14/01/2021 10:49

I'm not buying it in any way other than the show runners saw a loophole, that given they hadn't shown her actual dead body being buried on screen, they could get a few episodes out of her being brought back to life.

Why would Randall just drive away and not look for his grandparents or any one other than Hai who knew Laurel?

WaxOnFeckOff · 14/01/2021 10:56

Did he even ask if Hai had anywhere else to live? All that stuff out on show in the kitchen and it was all clean and shiny even though apparently not being used?

LutherRalph1 · 14/01/2021 12:05

He said "you've been looking after it all these years"
Which made me think he lived elsewhere but could be wrong
