It also didn't ring "true" for me. Madison and Kev have been planning the wedding with military precision, they also have a planner - no way would Beth and Tess not have been consulted about dresses or been handed them at the last minute and just expected them to fit. There are courier services in the U.S. and it's highly unlikely you wouldn't run altering them past Madison. Very selfish.

diddl I agree about Jack, I detest him and have written on earlier threads about it - he is so entitled and misogynistic (wrecking Becca's attempts to revive her singing career was one of his worst moves, brow beating Rebecca into bringing Randall home before she could think or process what had happened because he'd promised to bring three babies home from hospital - the list goes on). He's like a stutting cockerel.

I was reading a recap and says

Kate and Toby marry at the end of season 2, although flashforwards throughout seasons 3 and 4 imply that Toby and Kate are no longer together by the time the Pearson children have grown up

I don’t R.E.M. this flashwards of showing them split up

Sometimes I think of rewatching them all. Knowing what we now know about all their futures

Then again I don’t have 86 spare hours 😂

There's a scene when everyone is being told to gather at the cabin. And Toby is alone in bed and and whoever calls him says " she would have wanted you to be there with us"

Makes you wonder why they split up

Was it his depression or something else

Maybe Toby will stop travelling home so much (IIRC San Fran is about a 6 hour drive from LA), Kate will feel all the stuff for the DC is down to her and resentment will grow, Toby will grow close to someone in SF. Kate will rely on her boss for emotional support more....

Kate may also find herself alone in LA if Kev is off supervising the house build at the cabin and Miguel and Rebecca move out there too. (she would have Madison)

Just finished the whole five series. The single thing that annoyed me most about this last series was Madison’s total character change. She became essentially perfect as a person. It was hollow.

Really interesting to read here that they were going to reduce the flashbacks to the 90s. That makes sense as they have got pretty tired. I wonder how much of this season’s storyline about Randall came out of BLM and drove a change to the plan, and how much COVID caused a rethink? I’d have totally been there for mixing it up a bit as things really did drag in season 5.

@Abouttomakethewrongdecision that's such a good point about Madison's character change. We kind of loved to hate her at the start!

I enjoyed the episode but don't see Kate and her boss together at all. I struggle to see past him being the teacher in Waterloo Road (even when watching him in A Million Little Things, just kept thinking of Waterloo road then too!) and never warm to any of his characters.

I hope Kevin is happy however or whoever he ends up with. Would like more flash forwards with the kids as adults!

This was very cringeworthy and I don't quite know what purpose it served. Apart from getting something off Kates chest she'd been bottling up for years.

I get where people are coming from with Madison but I want to see how she deals with the break up with Kevin before making a final judgement

I vaguely remember the British guy from Waterloo road it just irks me that why are British men always type cast as the baddies with a stiff upper lip or at least to begin with are.

does anyone know when the next episode is on please? finding it hard with such massive gaps between episodes.

The gaps totally ruined the flow of the programme but yes, the wedding one was the series finale.

The gaps spoilt it. I hope that the next series is available in its entirety from the outset.

I think that the 1980s/1990s have been done in enough detail. Much as I like the Jack actor I’d prefer the flashbacks to the children’s childhoods to be limited in the next series. I’m more interested in the future and the present (and maybe the story of how Miguel and Rebecca became romantically involved rather than just remaining Facebook friends).

I’d like Nicky to find Sally. However, my OH thinks he’ll eventually marry the soldier. I’d find this a bit strange given that Kevin had a fling with her but he is very close to her and they have the army in common.

I’d like Malik’s ex girlfriend to be introduced. I’d prefer more Deja and less of the angsty Tess (good though the actress is).

I agree with all that @GreenClock other than Nicky getting with the soldier - he's far too old for her and she deserves someone much better than him (I'm not a Nicky fan at all - hate his character!)

I'm sad keV didn't marry Madison but of he knew he didn't love her he surely must've realise it was the right thing.
I don't remember flashbacks of the death ed scene really but there is no way Nicky would be with Rebecca.

It looked like keV and Madison were fine in that scene so they just have an amicable relationship, I guess that's best for the children anyway :)

The death scene as in when they were all getting together at the new house and Rebecca was in bed? We didn’t see Kate then if so, hence why there was so much speculation about her and theories online that she could be dead.
