@iklboo

Could do with some females in this..

Why? There weren't any in the actual event. Why shoehorn some in? It's not a soap opera.

Females are usually the murder victim in most dramas so it's refreshing in a way to be watching something without a dead female (normally hideously raped too) as the female part!!

This was brilliant David Tennant was superb, he's so good at playing scary characters

ageingdisgracefully · 15/09/2020 07:51

Lots of information on Nilsen on Wiki. Smile.

butterpuffed · 15/09/2020 07:54

David Tennant is excellent in this, I was riveted , could almost believe that he actually was Dennis Nilsen !

ExclamationPerfume · 15/09/2020 08:05

I've been looking forward to this. I don't rate David Tennant as an actor. He acts the same whoever he is portraying. Disappointed.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 15/09/2020 08:09

A friend mentioned today that he used to take in pot roasts and pork sandwiches for his colleagues at the job centre (she used to work for DWP). Yuk.....

Mrsjayy · 15/09/2020 08:56

We really "enjoyed" this there was
Some.flecks of dark humour I laughed a few times Blush. DT accent was fine it could have been a lot thicker as it can be in the area it's from.

lazymum99 · 15/09/2020 09:19

This is interesting about the flat where he did the first few murders. Not sure I could live comfortably in it

God that is really disturbing. If I'd eaten something meaty he had brought in I would honestly be really freaked out.

@Notverygrownup

Yes that was it! Thank you

Toddlerteaplease · 15/09/2020 10:10

@IHaveBrilloHair yes. It really should have been shown in mid summer when it's still light at 9pm.

MadameBlobby · 15/09/2020 10:14

It was really good but so grim and graphic in its’ descriptions

DT is fantastic in it

I remember seeing a clip of an interview with DN years ago and it was chilling just now matter of fact he was about what he’d done. Awful

OMG 🤢
Mochudhu · 15/09/2020 10:33

@HirplesWithHaggis

Re my earlier comment on his accent, I'm now watching the documentary on C5 which features a lot of Nilsen's home movies - and Tennant has it absolutely spot on!
Yes, I initially thought he over-rolled his Rs and it sounded a bit Brigadoon but the documentary is being shown on Thurs after the series ends so I'll watch it then.

Anyone ever read "Wilt" by Tom Sharpe ????

Meat One.

Well it's not exactly a feel good story about a day out in the country is it. What did you expect?

Mrsjayy · 15/09/2020 11:43

I just watched a clip of Dennis neilson. Chatting away quite the thing about dissection he was so matter of fact

ageingdisgracefully · 15/09/2020 12:42

I actually found it quite mild, given the nature of his crimes. I think it'll become more graphic once he begins to offload to Masters, though.

TurquoiseDress · 15/09/2020 14:18

Am going to be watching this TV, we need to catch up on last night's episode, we did stumble upon the channel 5 'born to kill' episode last night.

I had never heard of DN before this, although I was a toddler when he was committing his crimes.

If you look up the documentary on My5 (it's part of a series called Born To Kill) and watch the very first few seconds of Dennis Nilsen himself on home video, I think you will change your mind...

Unless David Tennant has been secretly channeling Dennis Nilsen in all his roles so far, that is! Grin

Heptember · 15/09/2020 14:34

My DH is another one who had no recollection of Nilsen at all. I on the other hand, remember it being all over the news- which is a bit strange, given I was only 8 at the time. Obviously a very macabre child...

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 15/09/2020 14:47

Bloody infuriates me they have his fringe/parting the wrong way around Angry

ExclamationPerfume · 15/09/2020 15:43

@BitOfFun I watched the documentary and others on YouTube. I've never liked David Tennant. He just plays the one way. Whereas someone like David Jason is a totally different character as DelBoy, Inspector Frost, Granville. He embodies the characters.

OnGoldenPond · 15/09/2020 15:48

Friend of DH lived on the same road as Nielsen while he was committing his murders. Moved out shortly before his arrest. He always said they had terrible trouble with their drains! Shock
