We have been following Our Girl since 2014 and although there are to be no further series, we revisit time and time again to discuss. As an alternative, we are also watching the 1990s series of Soldier Soldier.

Ready of a bit of CJ Dad dancing right now??

Ilovelblue · 10/11/2020 21:26

Re the police inspector - he was in Capital City on ITV which was probably a similar era to Soldier Soldier. He's called William Armstrong. That's the only thing I've remembered him in.

for!

Rhubarb01 · 10/11/2020 21:27

Yes, I remember him in Capital City. I think he pretended to be an American in that.

Rhubarb01 · 10/11/2020 21:28

By pretend, I think I mean he was acting Grin

Rhubarb01 · 10/11/2020 21:29

I don't think Sgt Macleod is all that good a soldier. It didn't take them long to overpower him and he was also a bit wimpy about that wound. Elvis wouldn't have given up so easy or whimpered about needing a drink.

Who’s wearing the pelmet? I can’t see but I’m following the posts.

Ilovelblue · 10/11/2020 21:29

According to IMDB, he's actually Canadian. I used to love Capital City. In a company I worked for, we had dealings with stockbrokers a fair bit and I had personal tours of the Stock Exchange twice I think. Fascinating.

Love the way they are allowed to sit around a Police incident room and just have a brew.

Rhubarb01 · 10/11/2020 21:30

Yes, Debs is definitely a bit of a Donna in the making - Donna of the early days.

Ilovelblue · 10/11/2020 21:31

Briggsy's wife to be is a real tearaway. I think she might have been in love with the idea of an exciting life abroad as the wife of a soldier. Maybe the reality will not be quite the same - is she this series answer to Donna Tucker?

Police got good jobs in those days, dancing in clubs, snogging and arresting slappers!

Ilovelblue · 10/11/2020 21:31

We're on the same wavelength again Rhu!

eejittwo · 10/11/2020 21:31

Rhu, how pre-COVID!

Rhubarb01 · 10/11/2020 21:32

There we go again, Ilove!

eejittwo · 10/11/2020 21:32

I was commenting on sitting around and having a brew.

Rhubarb01 · 10/11/2020 21:33

Ah, this is making me laugh. I don't really care about the lost weapons, enjoying the WAGs in the club much more.

Rhubarb01 · 10/11/2020 21:33

It's usually men that get arrested the night before their wedding on a stag do.

That nightdress, is really awful.

Rhubarb01 · 10/11/2020 21:35

I remember now that his name is Sgt MacLeod but he's not Scottish, but his wife, presumably a MacLeod by marriage, is!

Rhubarb01 · 10/11/2020 21:36

She's also very anxious. Lots of drama. He's very emotional.

Ilovelblue · 10/11/2020 21:36

Sgt McCleod does not look in good shape. Oh no, the DVD has stopped! Eeek.

It seems he knows the man with the gun who was also a soldier in REME.

Rhubarb01 · 10/11/2020 21:38

eejit I reckon the nightclub scenario was also very pre-Covid.

Oh, looks like a shed blew up - not sure why, wasn't paying attention.

Ilovelblue · 10/11/2020 21:38

I have two friends like that Rhu. He has a Scottish surname but it is his wife who is Scottish.
