Our Girl Thread 57 "Our Girl Revisited"

We have been following Our Girl since 2014 and although there are to be no further series, we revisit time and time again to discuss. As an alternative, we are also watching the 1990s series of Soldier Soldier.

Molly's parents have turned up to welcome him. Love how they are going to drop her off in Birmingham.

Things are often better between Belinda and Dave.

.... and in the blink of an eye, we are back at Brize Norton. Dave is waving the St George's flag - he's changed his tune I guess! Nan has hired a Corsa. They're taking her to Birmingham so that she can see CJ and Smurf. Not that she cleared it with Kinders first!

Molly is desperate to see CJ - gosh wouldn't we all be. Then she discovers his bed is empty and must be shocked. Smurf turns up to tell her he is having an operation.

Smurf is a rotten actor at times!

As she arrives, CJ has been rushed into the operating theatre again.

Molly and Smurf have a heart to heart. I think he has at last accepted that he doesn't have a future with Molly.

Molly and Smurf clear the air - he's had time to cool down and realises he has to let it go.

CJ comes back from theatre - at least she can see him now. Smurf and Molly sit it out together. It is sweet how they make up. I always feel sorry for him here.

CJ wakes up and probably thinks he's dreaming. Smurf and Molly are allowed in to see him.

Ah, this is lovely when CJ sees her for the first time and tells her to come in.

Fifty sausage challenge time for Smurf!

I can never make out whether Smurf is full of remorse and leaves through embarrassment or is being tactful and wants to leave CJ and Molly alone.

Oh look who turns up, the ex wife and son.

When CJ says "Ditto" to Molly and Rebecca looks suspicious, I wonder if that was one of their pet phrases when they were married.

Perhaps we're hard on Rebecca here. They are divorced but boy does she know that "Ditto" - must be a bit painful.

So getting shot in the arm straightens Smurf’s brain.

I think Smurf feels both remorse and realises it's time to do the decent thing and leave Molly and CJ alone to talk.

Molly takes the chance to sneak back to CJ for another chat.

Two Section turn up to see Smurf. I'm surprised they're not thrown out given the racket they make.

She nips out to see CJ but tells Kinders she's going to get a drink.

The wound is definitely on CJ's right leg!

Mrs Smurf hasn’t got the memo.

They have another heart to hearet. CJ announces he is going to resign his commission. That lovely phrase "We don't have to wait out".

Molly still looks very troubled.

CJ thinks he's responsible for what went wrong - in a way though he's right. He shouldn't have allowed personal feelings to get in the way of his job - boring for the rest of us - but true.

Meanwhile, back at barracks.....

The medal presentation back at barracks. Kinders, to Molly's great surprise, announces to the crowd that Molly has been awarded the Military Cross. She doesn't really look particularly pleased in my view!

Now we learn that CJ recommended Molly for a medal for her bravery. It comes as a surprise to everyone. Her parents are astonished and so proud..ah!

Dave is so too faced. He's only interested in any money Molly might pass in his direction!

Gosh, Dave has scrubbed up.

Back at home, Nan has sussed there's a problem of some sort.
