Our Girl Thread 57 "Our Girl Revisited"

We have been following Our Girl since 2014 and although there are to be no further series, we revisit time and time again to discuss. As an alternative, we are also watching the 1990s series of Soldier Soldier.

CJ pops in for a chat. Smurf thinks it's funny that she turns her back on him. He tells him to 'op it!

CJ is talking tactics - nice bit of small talk. No she is not OK you pillock!

At last he opens up about his son and what he has done wrong. He comes clean about his feelings for her. Ahh...

Such a shame that Smurf witnesses it. He must have suspected something.

I always think at this point that he should turn green and his eyes should glow red!

Oh dear - Smurf sees them kissing in the storeroom - it has definitely hit the fan now and he realises how deluded he has been. His hopes just crumble into pieces as he realises there's no hope. He must be so angry.

The truck which probably has Badrai on board is approaching the first checkpoint.

Here is the truck at the checkpoint. It's all kicking off.

Off they go to search the truck. It's all very tense.

CJ looks them all in the eye and the look he gives Molly says it all - unfortunately, Smurf is giving him the evil eye and he can't see it. Tense music....

Over the bridge - here we go, Smurf goes off his trolley. We see the tattered flag and remember the start of the episode. Meanwhile one of the occupants of the truck could do with their eyebrows waxing....

Smurf shoots a....goat!

Smurf has lost the plot and shoots at the old farmer with his goat. Realising he can never be with Molly, he has gone crazy.

What’s it with goats? What does TG have against goats?

Smurf and CJ have words on the bridge - everyone wonders what is happening. Only Molly can hear what is happening. Now CJ knows what is going on. Even Qaseem is taking charge of the situation because CJ isn't. This is just awful.

Goats do not do very well in OG, do they? Except the one that Maisie rescued.

Badrai is in the truck, dressed as a woman. He shoots CJ in the leg, blood dripping everywhere. Now which leg is it?

CJ is hit and a firefight starts. Molly has to take charge and treat him. Molly can see Smurf is hit too. This is dreadful. They are pinned down. She is so lucky not to get hit. He calls her Molly.

Molly deals with CJ and Smurf both at the same time and manages to shoot Badrai at the same time. Go girl! How's that for multi-tasking?

Molly takes CJ's gun and shoots Badrai. It's all over....CJ and Smurf need to be evacuated ASAP...

Do we need the close-ups of gore? I’m with Dic Martin when it comes to blood.

Love the song that states "you caused it" - she must feel wretched.

Molly is in shock.

CJ is medevac'd back to Bastion along with Smurf whose injuries are less serious. She can't reveal her true feelings.

We're left on a cliffhanger! Will CJ survive? What will happen to Smurf?

Well, that was just as good as it was first time round.

I should be watching the news but not sure how much more I can stomach today. Our local news has been full of the Andy Burnham v Boris shenanagins.

Distracted by a phone call - just finishing up. Yes, last episode next week. Oh my goodness can you remember that last week when we all waited to find out what would happen. What a week on MN that was. Would be fun to track down that original thread and have a re-read. I might do that as I fancy a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

That really was a very incident filled episode. Remember so well the feelings while waiting for episode 5. Loved it all again last night. Thank you for that link Rhu as I'm sure I never would have found that first thread again. Am now hopefully going to enjoy reading that. Much better occupation at the moment I think than watching current news bulletins.
