Our Girl Thread 57 "Our Girl Revisited"

We have been following Our Girl since 2014 and although there are to be no further series, we revisit time and time again to discuss. As an alternative, we are also watching the 1990s series of Soldier Soldier.

Now Smurf can sweep in and be the shoulder to cry on when everything has gone wrong. At this moment I began to think maybe we had misjudged Smurf and he would be the good guy in all this after all. CJ was really too good to be true.

Smurf asks her to wear the ring.

There's a bit of an engagement ring theme in Our Girl - all these soldiers having them in their back packs - just in case.

Molly takes the ring.

Mission impossible time - should you choose to accept it....

The tense music starts and two section start to get ready.

They prepare for the night mission.

I‘d visions of Elvis trolling the jewellers’ shops of Kabul the night before ...

I think CJ wants to say something but he can't. Perhaps he thinks it's better to let it lie for now.

CJ gives his pep talk.

The helicopter lands and off they go.

Nice one eejit, I'd never thought of that!

Stern words there from CJ - he's going to get her home in one piece - well one of them will at least.

I've never heard thunder that sounds like that!

There's a shot and they all drop to the ground.

It starts to rain and Molly realises it wasn't gunshot but thunder! How often does it rain in Afghan?

Ugh...hate getting all damp like that reminds me of Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Snowdoina!

The bridge, the same one we see in a future series!

Here we are in the compound. Qaseem comes in for a nice little chat. He is very sensitive about her feelings.

It’s raining, raining in my heart ...

They aren't exactly quiet - they really shout loudly when that Afghan army chap arrives. Not really undercover.

The ANA guy is very strange with his football chat! Doesn't seem the most reliable sort.

Everyone waits for dawn to arrive. Molly sits alone in her room. CJ loads his gun - remember that....

Smurf goes to chat to Molly.

They all look a bit bored whilst waiting for some action.

Smurf wanders in to talk to Molly.

Smurf has got it all wrong again - he thinks he and Molly will get married. He really is so deluded. Fate and chance comes into it all again.

Smurf seems quite morose.

We don’t see as much of the lovely Fingers as we do in the other series - including the broccoli episodes.

CJ comes in and in his lovely head jerk movement, gets rid of Smurf so he and Molly can talk. He confesses he has a son and yes, he did want to tell her but the appropriate moment never arose.

CJ looks extremely gorgeous in these scenes.
