We have been following Our Girl since 2014 and although there are to be no further series, we revisit time and time again to discuss. As an alternative, we are also watching the 1990s series of Soldier Soldier.

Dave seems quiet and depressed, but Belinda is as warm as always. Love how Molly carefully wipes the 'Rosabaya' on her arm.

All is not well with Dave and Belinda. Belinda is thinking of the future and wants to make something of herself.

Here...comes...Shazza!!

Rhubarb01 · 13/10/2020 21:24

Shazza is a bit wacky, wonder if she's got a VW camper van with CND sign on the front?

Rhubarb01 · 13/10/2020 21:24

Yes, I knew I'd heard it somewhere - just forgot.

Ilovelblue · 13/10/2020 21:25

Clearly all is not well with Belinda and Dave.

Belinda's friend Shazza is on the doorstep. Her comment about Molly being in the army doesn't sit well with Molly.

Nothing wrong with making your own soup!

I never took to Shazza but at least she did offer some support to Belinda which is more than Dave did.

Haven’t quite made out Shazza

Rhubarb01 · 13/10/2020 21:25

Molly is feeling a bit left out, now her mum is moving on and has found other friends. Molly is also finding it hard to detach.

Party time...onion soup...yummy, yummy!

Rhubarb01 · 13/10/2020 21:26

Actually, Shazza is right. Molly is almost as bad as her Dad in trying to put down Belinda's idea. They are very narrow-minded.

Ilovelblue · 13/10/2020 21:27

Another catchphrase from Nan - lobbing Shazza off a bridge on the M25!

Look at Smurf sitting there on his best behaviour all excited because Molly has called him.

Ilovelblue · 13/10/2020 21:29

Smurf rings - isn't adapting to life back home very well and urges Molly to come to Newport. He stands at the railway station with a bunch of flowers for her. I've always thought it was rather ungrateful of her to tell him to thrown them in the bin. What a waste!

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 13/10/2020 21:29

Look at Smurf with his flowers - what is he thinking? Surely, she must have realised that he doesn't think the same way about them as she does.

Ilovelblue · 13/10/2020 21:29

"Nothing feels normal" - I think we're all feeling that way at the moment Smurf!

OP posts:
eejittwo · 13/10/2020 21:30

Yeah, but they weren’t all crumpled so someone else could maybe fish them out and appreciate them.

Rhubarb01 · 13/10/2020 21:30

I think Molly is really very concerned about one member of the section in particular, that's why she's impatient to get back. She just isn't seeing what is going on with Smurf at all.

Rhubarb01 · 13/10/2020 21:32

Now he's got Molly's attention, after mentioning CJ was at this spot. Yes it was perfect..so is CJ.

Ilovelblue · 13/10/2020 21:32

Newport is indeed a sh*thole Molly and I've only been through it once.

Mind you, I do like the look of Laugharne. Molly's interest is alerted when she knows CJ has been here when Smurf's brother's ashes were scattered and he read Dylan Thomas.

"Got back together" oh dear, how many hints does he have to drop.

Rhubarb01 · 13/10/2020 21:35

"We need to be together!" - hmm!

eejittwo · 13/10/2020 21:35

Really, Molly gives Smurf ALL the wrong signals.

Rhubarb01 · 13/10/2020 21:37

Crikey - she just ignores all the really strong hints and brushes it off because she's thinking of CJ. If she wasn't she might have told him to take a hike by now.

Rhubarb01 · 13/10/2020 21:39

Love this bit when Molly and Belinda snuggle up together. Molly has come around to the idea of Belinda moving on. She sees that the army and CJ's belief in her are changing her life and Belinda deserves a chance to change her life too.

Ilovelblue · 13/10/2020 21:40

HIdden message in Molly's comment about being friends with somebody you never thought you would be friendly with.

Molly is very suspicious of Shazza's motives and despite Dave being such a rubbish husband and parent, she doesn't like that Shazza is coming between husband and wife.

Meanwhile, the next morning, Smurf and Dave are entertaining all the little Dawes children.

Nan comes in and tells Molly that Smurf is "a good 'un".

Rhubarb01 · 13/10/2020 21:41

Smurf is nice with her brothers and sisters. Dave is really struggling with the idea that he's losing Belinda.

Ilovelblue · 13/10/2020 21:41

Dave's views are pretty archaic!

I thought they could do with Belinda's extra money anyway.
